Thanks for the responses. I would really like to find some kind of tour that would pick us up at Wings Over Kauai after our flight so we do not have to rent a car but at least I have a car reserved if I do not find any other options.
As much as I would love to see Waimea Canyon I am afraid that would be pushing it time wise as we have to be back on-board at 4:30PM.
We love beaches but would really like to see more scenery, waterfalls, etc. I don't think the botanical gardens would be to high on our lists. We also like activity type days like kayaking, ATVing, ziplining, etc. I have contacted several tour operators about a NaPali boat tours but none of them worked with our time frame.
We want to make the most of our limited time in Kauia as it is one of the islands I am looking forward to the most.
Thanks again,
Juli

My husband & I will be in Kauai September 27th from 8AM-5PM. :) We booked the Grand Deluxe Air Tour with Wings Over Kauai for 9:30 AM. We should be through by 11AM. WOK will pick us up & return us to the port if needed.
Does anyone have any suggestions for the rest of the afternoon or have any recommendations for a tour that would pick us up at WOK & return us to the port after our tour? I am really excited about our flight but want to experience more of Kauai in our limited time there.
I have booked a rental car in Kauai (that I can cancel) but since we will only have approximately 5 hours after our flight I am afraid it will take up to much of our time with the rental process & getting our bearings.
Thanks,
Juli

Thank you so much. How was the water? Cold? I think this is what we are going to do!!! Appreciate your help so much!!
We usually go in Jan/Feb or Sept/Oct & we have always played in the water (we usually have some fun games of pool volleyball). It felt a little colder than usual this time & we had a short day there so we did not get in the water.
The beach at Breezes is gorgeous & the staff is always extremely welcoming. They provide towels so you do not have to take any off the ship. Also if you want to try the rock climbing wall you need tennis shoes & you have to have socks to try the trapeze (that thing is HUGE!) & you have to be 'dry' inside & out! :D
Definitely try a Dirty Monkey! The best drink ever!
My friend Mike did a review with a TON of pics of Breezes when he went with us in 2012. Here is a link to his review if you are interested. Our day at Breezes starts on page 29.

1:30 - cabin poker crawl $5.00 per person
poker/cabin crawl
calling all cruisers...any more crawlers wanting to join us for the fun.................................
we still need 1 more cabin !!!!
an aft-wrap or suite would be awesome *wink wink*
for those that aren't sure what is involved, here is an explanation
each cabin has a deck of cards and as the crawlers arrive they pick a card and then host cabin writes down their pick on the scorecard.
The host cabin can also participate, and sometimes they decorate or offer up some refreshments of some sort...maybe something from their hometown.
At the end,we tally up the scorecards and find the winning hands.
There will be 1st place,70%, 2nd place,20% and 3rd place 10%...also a
"boobie" prize for the worst hand ;0)
also if you would like to crawl without offering your room, then please let me know, so i have an idea of how many scorecards/cheat sheets to make up. Now don't be shy, because anyone can play even if you don't know how...that's what the cheat sheets are for !!!!!!

thanks for all the replies, I am going to book chilkoot, the day we are there is the day that we actually take the bus up and the train down. that still gives us 2-3 hours to spend in Skagway after the excursion.
We took the bus up & the train back when we went with Chilkoot in August. The best pics we took from our whole trip were from that day! It was breathtaking!
-
We absolutely loved the See Antigua by Sea last January & have it booked again for February (we rarely do an excursion twice but it was so much fun!).
It was our favorite day of our trip! The scenery was stunning, the food & drinks were good, the staff was friendly & did I mention it was FUN?!? :D
I have heard a lot of good thing about the Deluxe Lobster Lunch & Champagne Cruise too though.
-
That is correct Cool Breeze. They're an excellent outfit and as long as you don't just decide to do something else without telling them no problem. We waited about 40 minutes for a cruise group that didn't show even though their ship had docked 3 hrs earlier so I would think they were charged since they never called.
Great day even if you don't snorkel. We hit a very bad squall on the way toCaneel Bay but tye rest of the day was worth it. Their lunch is spectacular, and the Nooners are excellent and they work!
Have fun!
Thanks. You are always so helpful on this board. No shows should be charged unless it is through no fault of their own like the ship coming in late.
We did an island tour/time at Megan's Bay with Airforce 1 last time we were in St. Thomas so we wanted something different. We have been going back & forth on going to Trunk Bay or going with New Horizons & I think New Horizons is the winner! :D
Funny you should say it is a great day even if you don't snorkel. I really don't like 'fishies' but love the ocean. Go figure.
I called New Horizon again today to ask a 'few' more questions & so far I am really impressed. She also said I should be able to swim to shore at Honeymoon Beach & hang out there while others snorkel. :)
Do you know how much a cab will be there? She said she thinks it is less if you have two or more people? Thanks also for suggesting in another thread spending time at Sapphire Beach if you have extra time. It sounds great & we are in St. Thomas from 8-6 so we should have some time before or after.

I'm doing the same exploration. The leader so far is New Horizon, which has mostly great reviews at TripAdvisor dot com. They charge $75 per person and can take up to 12. However, they have a strict cancellation policy and apparently do not budge on it. If your ship comes in late and you miss their departure, you still pay.
We are also interested in the day sail trip with New Horizon for our cruise in February, 2014. I called New Horizons yesterday & was told you are not charged if your ship does not come in or is late. Is that not true?
-
Thanks so much for posting the pictures. We made the trip 10 years and planning on doing again next year.
You are welcome. I am sure you will have a great trip! Alaska is beautiful!!!

In Skagway, can you just do the train or do you have to take the bus to get to the train. You said with the bus and the train it was bit of a long day.
It was a long day & we went in to it knowing that it would be.
We chose the tour that went the farthest so obviously it would take longer whether you are going by bus or train. And the lunch was REALLY good at Bennett Station House! :D.
'I' actually enjoyed the bus part of the tour more but that was probably because our guide was an absolute doll & we made frequent stops.
The scenery from the train was BEYOND majestic though & we saw sights that you could only see from the train excursion that goes that far. It is not even comparing apples to apples. Entirely different experiences though the bus & train parts of the tour were both amazing!
You also have to understand I do not sit still well on a good day :p. I have jury duty right now & it is a challenge sitting in a court room all day !
We explored several options for Skagway. We checked out Chilkoot, Dyea Dave & renting a car & exploring on our own. We decided since it was probably a one time trip for us we wanted to see all that we could see! And I think we did!!!
Chilkoot does offer shorter tours. Here is there website...
I would highly recommend them.
The most beautiful photos we have from our whole 18 day trip (except the whales :D) came from our day with Chilkoot.
As I said I would DEFINITELY do the Bennett Scenic Journey once! With my type A personality I am not sure I would do it twice but a lot of the scenery we were able to see was only available through this tour. When I look back at our pictures I am SO happy we chose this tour!

wow what amazing pictures. My wife and I are planning a trip in july 2014. Yours pictures are getting me so excited, they are also giving me really good idea of what excursion to go on, Thanks
Thank you. I love that 1st picture. I would like to claim it but I think J.R. took that one. :p Looking at our photos now it is hard to believe they are real. Alaska is insanely gorgeous!
I now have access to my friend Robin's pics & can post more if there are any of the excursions you are interested in. She took some great photos too.

Thanks for taking the time to post such a fantastic review! Your photos are incredible!!
Thank you. I am making a book of our cruise at Walgreens for J.R. for Christmas. Shhh! :D I think he will love it & it has been extremely easy to do (except for choosing the photos to use ).
I will eventually get around to scrapbooking our trip & then I will probably use almost all of our photos! :D

What a wonderful review! Your pictures are amazing. I had tears in my eyes looking at the beautiful whales...I can only imagine how you felt! My kids and I sat here in awe looking at the scenery and animals. Alaska is one place we want to see with our kids before they leave home. They're 9 and 8 now, so hopefully that will give us plently of time to save for it. :)
Thank you. Robin & I both got so emotional when we saw the whales (I think our hubbies did too but they didn't show it as much as we did :p). There is no way for me to describe how majestic they were!!! And they were SO close!
Whale watching is what sold me on going to Alaska & I booked with Harv & Marv as soon as I booked the cruise. I am so thankful I did as their tours book up fast. If we could have only done one excursion it DEFINITELY would be the whale watch with Harv & Marv.
I love the pictures we took but I REALLY love the videos Robin took. To be able to hear the sounds they make as they came to the surface still brings chills! I have watched the videos over & over.
It is wonderful that you are sharing reviews & pictures with your kids. Treasure every moment! My 'kids' are 26 & 22 & I still do! :D
Juli

Thanks for sharing your great review and your pictures are just amazing.
I never thought that Alaska would be on my bucket list but now it is.
Thank you. As much as I LOVE the Caribbean my Caribbean pictures do not compare to the ones from Alaska. One of our friends is a photographer & can not wait to go to Alaska after he saw the photos of the reflection lakes. It was absolutely breathtaking & even VERY amateur photographers can easily take incredible photos! :D

So glad to see this part of your review. We used Luggage Express on our first cruise, Valor out of Miami, and it worked really well. We're also using Seattle Express for our trip to the airport. We have 1 PM flights and my sister and brother-in-law will be with us so with four people we shouldn't get mixed up with anyone else.
Joyce
Luggage Express worked out amazing especially since we had so much luggage. We had a delay getting our luggage tags but they told us to just come to Customer Service when we got back from Victoria. Our luggage did not go out until after midnight with the delay but our suitcases were among the 1st few off the conveyor belt when we got to Nashville.
I researched a LOT before the cruise & Seattle Express was the best deal. If we had left the ship earlier we would not have been in such a time crunch but we wanted to savor every last minute! :D

I'm so glad that Robin shared her video -- it's a great one!Almost like being there right Tara? :D Your little one was so well behaved that day even if you lost your video. :(
-
Here are the links to the youtube videos of the whale watching with Harv & Marv. Be sure & have the volume turned up for the first one. MAJESTIC!
-
Hi Mike,
I have been looking forward to your review! I wish y'all had gone with us to Alaska instead though! :p You would have been in picture taking heaven!
Since you can't join us on our Valentine cruise keep Hawaii September 18, 2014 in mind. I want to see my Canadian 'sister' (& you & the kids :D) again!
Hugs & 'almost kisses' from J.R. (& me)!!!

Robin downloaded her videos of the glacier calving & whale watching with Harv & Marv to youtube. I will try to post the link to the glacier calving 1st (even though the whale watching ones are my favorites :D) but computers are not my thing  so I hope it works!
To get a grasp on how huge this glacier is look at the boat in this picture compared to the glacier.
-
Time to go back 'home'! :D
This was a picture of the glacier taken from the ship.
Heading to Skagway!
-
There was a lot more ice in the water at the 2nd glacier.
-
How cool to have a picture with a REAL glacier as a backdrop!
Breezes Nassau - just returned
in Bahamas
Posted
Breezes is always our go to place in Nassau. We have been there in January, February, September & October & the atmosphere is different every time but we always have a great time. We usually take friends with us we have met on the ship & the day goes by way to fast.
The beach is gorgeous, there are plenty of activities or you can go further down the beach for quiet time, the food is good (we have yet to eat at the buffet inside but friends said it was better than the ship's food) & the staff is so welcoming. Can't wait to go back!
