  1. Planning a 7 day Alaska cruise 2 adults and 2 children in summer 2017.

    I have a few questions.

    1. I have 45,000 points , if I use 30,000 for an up grade will I be able to use the 15,000 or part of it lower the cruise fare.

    2. When would I need to redeem the points? Could I wait until just before sailing.

    3. The up grade is for the cabin right, no matter how many people are in there.

    4. Any through on the best use for my points, inside to ocean - ocean to balcony or just to reduce the cruise fare.

    Thanks

  2. Sounds like a great cruise, great ship and great ports.

I would do it if I were you.

We lived in Sitka for awhile back in 1977 and use to watch the cruise ships come in. We have been to Icy Strait in 2007 both are tender ports. Also been on the Pearl twice.

    Found these photos.

You can see the cruise ships in the background.

  3. The pool with the slide is the family pool and the one you can see in the back is the adult pool. There are two hot tubs by the family pool and two by the adult pool. I know at least one hot tub by the adult pool is adults only, I not sure if both are.

As for being quieter the pool will be but you will still hear some noise from the other pool.

  4. OP -

Show me another mass market line that will adjust your price downward after final payment.

At least they offered you some OBC. They were under no obligation to offer you anything at all.

NCL isn't a rip-off. You just had unrealistic expectations/hopes and are upset that you didn't get your way.

I agree, it's well after final payment.

Which cruise ship are you sailing. I have family sailing on the Jewel on April 6th.

  5. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids age 6 and 8 cruising on the Dawn this July 4th, this is our first ever cruise so we are very excited. We have a mini suite, we will be travelling from Ireland and will be visiting the Boston area for a week pre cruise, I will be trying to pack as light as possible but just wondering where luggage can be stored in the stateroom, can they fit under a bed? are bags better than cases? I appreciate your replies.

Welcome to cruising and cruise critics, any questions please ask. Someone will have the answer.

Enjoy the your stay in Boston and the cruise.

  6. We were at a travel show this past weekend and the Princess rep was tell us about this, he didn't go into much detail but did say it was getting work done to it and heading to Asia.

We sailed on the Sapphire a few years ago just after the International Cafe was installed.

I was doing some research on the Sapphire the other day when I found that the Sapphire was originally the Diamond before the fire on the Diamond.

DiamondPrincess01.jpgDiamondPrincess02.jpgNews photo of Diamond Princess on fire.DiamondPrincessFire-01.jpg Diamond Princess Sapphire Princess(Princess Cruises: 2004- ) Two sisterships of 113000grt were ordered from Mitsubishi in Japan, to be named Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess. Two photos of Diamond Princess under construction at Nagasaki on 31st May 2002. She was originally due to enter service in 2003. On 1st October 2002, a fire started in the Art Gallery, which spread to much of the ship, causing extensive damage. Princess have stated that the ship will be rebuilt, but I do not have an estimated completion date. The second ship of the class was renamed Diamond Princess for 2003 delivery, and Diamond Princess will enter service as Sapphire Princess.
