I have called Celebrity and negotiated with them- before the "move up" program was in place.  Always successful expecially if you are Elite or higher.  Got a good deal- works if you sail when the ship isn't full non-prime time.  Do not hold out too long or you will be out of luck- call and negotiate

After final? What did they do for you? Ships not full, and we are Elite as well.

As others have indicated, the prices most likely will drop after final payment date.  However, on several cruises that I have been watching, the low prices available after final payment do not include any perks.  As such, if you currently have any included perks, I believe you would lose them if you upgrade to a discounted fare that does not include perks, such as an exciting deal or resident/senior rate.

With a suite, Go Best is included, unless you do the Move Up deal, correct?

I have Go Best with my C1 right now.

  3. Hi all,

I am trying to make a decision on upgrading to a suite on a cruise I have coming up in June. The final payment is Monday.

Here is my question. There are about 35 suites still available (16 left for a party of 3, which we are). The prices have come down, but should I hold out until after final to upgrade?

Does anyone have experience with the suites dropping further when there are this many still open? I will be so frustrated if I bite the bullet now and then they drop.

    Thoughts? Thank you!!

Hi, we have been to Reykjavik and Akureyri last year. In Akureyri we rented a car from Europcar, which was easy and very close to the docking area. In Reykjavik was also a rental car company in the docking area. I do not remember exactly, but I think it was Europcar, too. Never heard about another cruise terminal in Reykjavik.

Thank you! You are correct, I found the Europcar and I appreciate the help.

Both town would be excellent for horse riding. When we disembarked at Akureyri there was a private tour at the wharf looking to fill a van. It was an excellent day and included an opportunity to swim at the mineral pool.  I would probably horse ride at Akureyri if the weather is good. There is an information office ( with wifi) not far from the wharf and they were happy to book Reykjavik excursions.  Check out the hearts in the traffic lights.

    Thank you so much!

  6. I have been reading all of this helpful information, as I am planning for a visit this June.

Thank you of all those who have posted.

We will overnight one night at each Reykjavik and Akureyri, and will definitely rent a car at both ports and plan on seeing and doing as much as possible. One thing we really want to do is go horseback riding, they look so gorgeous.

Could you please tell me if you recommend doing this while in Reykjavik or Akureyri? The horses in Vik and the black sand beach looked fun, but the North looks amazing too. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thank you!

  7. The constellation is older, but it is still a great ship and well maintained. The crew is outstanding and we love the smaller size that allows for more interesting itineraries. We love the S class ships too. We are sailing on Connie the end of this month. We cruised on her over this past summer and summer before. I think it would be hard to be disappointed. Enjoy your cruise!

  8. Lagoon Service Bora Bora. Hands down, one of the best days of our lives. We swam with sharks and so much more with the most amazing guides.

We also jogged to Bloody Mary’s the next day, had a couple of cocktails and took a cab back to the port with friends we met there from the cruise.

It’s pure heaven no matter what you do.

    Enjoy!

  9. You need to make sure you fully understand the term of perks in this context.

A suite (depending on the level) comes with a long list of benefits that you receive on a move up.

Many times a suite comes with the Best bundle (the “perks”). These are not included with the Move Up bid offer. If you current booking includes the Best bundle you will receive them with the move up offer. Whichever bundle (Big, Better, Best) that is with your current booking will remain. But you cannot take advance of any normal additional promotions included with a full price booking.

This is my recollection of what was describe in my Move Up bid offer.

Not really a deal breaker for me.

Let me know if you need further clarification as I know the BBB bundles are confusing.

That helps so much. I appreciate you taking the time to explain it. I called Celebrity this morning and the representative actually said “I really don’t know too much about the move up program”. [emoji15]

So, as of now I have a concierge cabin with Go Best. It came with two perks and I purchased the other two. So if I bid on a suite and X actually accepts it then I will keep my 4 perks and everything would stay the same as far as amenities that come with being in the suite class, correct?

This is assuming I even receive a the Move Up email.

With this new promotion for this weekend, I am debating just paying for the upgrade. It will be about $2500. I did not get a good deal on the CC this time. [emoji51] I have stayed in SS a few times, and of course loved it. There are 12 SS left, 1 of each higher up suites.

I wonder how in the world they decide who gets the MU offer?

  10. We also got the email for our 8/25 ABC Island sailing. In March we sailed in a Sky Suite and got all 4 perks included, this sailing in Aqua we only received 2 perks. I understand that if you win a Move Up bid you do not get any additional perks, kind of a deal breaker for us. Plus, the minimum bid for a SS or CS "seem" to be more than the price to have booked them outright in the first place. The extra room in the SS is nice but Luminae isnt that much better then Blu in my opinion so we didnt bid.

Is this right? The Move Up comes with no perks if you bid on a suite?? That is a deal breaker!

  11. This is one port it is worth paying the extra and parking directly at the port. This is coming from someone who always tries to park off site. We have tried a few lots in Miami, all with bad results, including damage to our vehicle. The port has great covered parking and your car will look the same as when you left it! ;)

  12. I am wondering when we might be offered a Move Up, we are on a Apr. 2019 cruise that seems to be very slow selling cabins. I have a B2 cabin and might be interested in upgrading for a good price.

I just called and asked this the other night, and they said a month out.

Here is what the X site says:

Eligible Reservations on all Celebrity ships within 30 days of departure date. Program excludes Galapagos Ships.

Maybe someone received one earlier? I would like to know as well.

  13. Thanks el be there in two weeks and wondering about tours VS renting

IMHO, I would not spend the money on a tour. It is so easy to get around and see so much. The car cost us 45 euros. We went to Budva (amazing beach town, about a half hour away), went to the beach and then had a fantastic lunch. Then back to Kotor, returned the car and went to the walled city. We have been a few times, and this is one of the most beautiful places we have been. We absolutely love it. I hope you have a fantastic vacation!
