  1. Your luggage should be checked all the way through. Just confirm with your baggage tags and at the airport.

Assuming it works the same as it does when we go to the U.S., you will go through Immigration/Customs. Go through with declaration, pick up bags, walk through and put them back on the belt. Montreal also has the capacity to show you a pic of your luggage and confirm it is yours so you will need to check the procedure.

For us returning to Canada, we do need to pick up the luggage (and yes we have a connecting flight) and put it back on the belt. Very easy and there are luggage carts there ;)

Oh my goodness Kazu, I was wrong. I am flying into Toronto not Montreal and then on to Québec! Any info on Toronto Pearson?

  2. OP

When you say you have a short time between flights, just how short is the time between your connecting flights?

Even just connecting in the states, I make certain that we have at least 3 hours between flights -- just in case anything goes wrong.

oh my goodness! I stand corrected! I am flying in to Toronto, not Montreal. And there is a roughly a 2 hour layover. Any info now?..

  3. You will arrive in the International section of the YUL main building. Depending on the gate, you have a short or long walk and will be directed to the Customs area. After going through Customs, you will probably have your connecting flight leave from the outlying terminal with Gates 17-34 which has the turbo-prop commuter planes for the short flight on to Quebec City. There is an underground tunnel to that terminal.

Quebec City has a fixed taxi rate from the airport to the downtown area.

so my luggage goes on without me having to mess with it? Just my DH and I have to clear customs, correct?

  4. Hi fellow CC'ers. I will be sailing from Quebec to FLL next month and I have a question about the flights. I have never had to do connection flights before, so I am confused. We booked with Air Canada, and they have us booked on a United flight to Montreal, then our connecting flight into Quebec is through Air Canada.

Soooo does my luggage forward on or do I have to retrieve it in Montreal and recheck it? Our layover is not that long, and my husband HATES airports, so I am trying to make this as stress free for him, (and me) as possible. Thanks for any input.

  5.

It isn't about being separate from other passengers and it isn't an effort to make you feel inferior. It's about offering a different meal for people who paid more. This is most easily done if there's a separate dining room.

I suppose HAL could just hand out a different menu to passengers in Neptune/Pinnacle suites. Perhaps waiters could ask to see key cards before taking orders. How would you feel when the waiter says, "I'm sorry, Madam, you can't order that because you aren't in a suite."

Then cut the Pinnacle in half since they are eating breakfast and lunch in there anyway, there isn't that many of you, you should all fit. And as far as what menu I eat from??? Who cares, you want to be snobs then be snobs. And frankly I do not sail on Hal for real estate or what I eat, I sail for the itineraries and the ports of call. I do not spend enough time in my cabin to really warrant the money for much more than a veranda or SS. I guess if I was old and just wanted to sit in my "suite" then maybe.

  6. One of the things I really like about HAL is that once you leave your cabin it doesn't matter anymore. Inside, Ocean-View, and Suits all get the same opportunity for food, service, and public space.

I agree with these sentiments completely and absolutely. Thanks for expressing them. This was one of the main reasons I selected HAL over Cunard originally.

    Scott & Karen

I so also agree! Who cares what real estate block you have, we are all on the same ship. And if you need to separate yourself from everyone else, (why???), then more power to you. Hope you all are happy in amongst yourselves, in you little havens. Me I find I meet a lot of interesting, entertaining people in the general population. I wouldn't give it up. And by the way, I sail in verandas and suites only. And have no use whatsoever for the caste system.

  7. Mail to crew is best send to a port the ships calls on regularly, i.e. a "turn-around" port, and its done via the port agent. So for ZADM right now, the port of Vancouver, BC is your best bet

Any idea of the address or how I would find it?

  8. Is there a way to send a gift or letter to a crew memeber on board any given ship? I am especially interested in sending something, i.e. letter, to a crew member on the Zaandam. It is on the Alaska run now. Any suggestions?

  9. You didn't make it clear in the other post that you were disembarking in San Diego. I interpreted what you wrote to mean you would be flying there and connecting home to Denver.

When you disembark and clear CBP at the ship, you will be finished with Customs and Immigration for that trip.

Go to the airport and fly home. :)

Perfect! Sorry I wasn't clear on that, too many things in my head and tying up loose ends, has me talking in circles. Thanks to everyone for the assistance. You CC People are always the best!

  10. When you check your luggage in Denver, carefully check the luggage tags attached to your suitcases to be sure it is being directed to Buenos Aires and not Atlanta.

Have a safe trip and enjoy. :)

Thanks Sails I wouldn't even have thought of that.:)

  11. No. Your bags should be checked thru to BA, and you'll only go thru security on Denver. You may need to show your passport t the gate in ATL, but I doubt it. Well, provided Delta is your carrier for both legs. If you switch in ATL to a different carrier you may need to re-check bags.

No, we are Delta all the way through. So luggage goes on and we go eat! When we come back to San Diego, do we go through customs there then?

  12. Correction: Your luggage may get checked in Atlanta, however; and, of course, your passport will be checked in Denver and Atlanta.

Sooooo we claim our luggage and go through customs in Atlanta and clear immigration and passport control there also???

  13. We are flying out for our trip in a couple days. Just a quick question, when we fly from Denver to Atlanta do we have to clear any type of customs in Atlanta before flying on to Buenos Aires EZE airport? Or is it considered a simple layover and we clear customs and immigration in BA only?

    Thanks in advance

  14. Some weeks ago, we had a post asking if hoverboards would be allowed on HAL..... I am very sure the answer is definitely No after the incidents about we have heard. I saw a report of another house fire this week started by a hoverboard. They aren't allowed on airplanes and public transportation in lots of cities is banning them.

So why are vapor cigarettes allowed on planes. Easy enough to sneak a puff in the bathrooms on the planes as well as the cabins on the dam ships. My SIL is one of those people.

  15. I am sailing next month on the Zaandam and am curious about the music offerings on the ship. Does the crows nest still have a musician that plays in the evening/night for dancing and requests? Or maybe a DJ? Love to watch my DH and sis in law dance after dinner. What a hoot!
