Hate to be the damper on this parade but this is spring break in Canada, you may get more kids than you expect.

I'm just off the Splendor on Feb. 5, not many kids at all on that voyage. March 9th I'll be in Virginia, won't be the same on a land vacation, but it will be warmer than home!

  2. I'm leaving on the Splendor on Jan. 28. I totally understand the up and down rates for school holidays. Also the idea of cruising to the Bahamas in the winter from some place cold. Being from Canada, the Bahamas is warmer than here, ergo, I am going some place warm....... besides the cruise for me is the vacation and the time spent on the ship with my mom (we are considerably older than you guys) is a big part of our enjoyment and together time. These are the memories that stay with you no matter what the weather!

  3. I'm one of those that don't understand the hurry at dinner. When we go out locally, we always take around 2 hours-wine, appetizer, wine, salad, wine, dinner-you get the picture!!

I'm with you, dining is part of my cruise experience. I do understand the concept when with children (that's part of the reason I choose late dining -- less children) but other than that, I'm in no hurry, I have no place to be in a rush.

  4. We are on the Glory Jan 5th sailing and I will report back. A concern of mine is having to share a bowl of potatoes or salad or whatever. How do I know if the person that served themselves before me, washed their hands? Do I need to ask? I don't think so!

I would hope they don't put their hands in the potatoes!

  5. Just printed out my documents for next weeks Glory sailing and of course it states boarding 1:30 -4pm. Now I have been on 26 cruises, 5 being with Carnival so I know better. But with the low prices Carnival is promoting there are many new people cruising for the 1st time. Can you imagine the mayhem at the pier if everyone showed at 3pm. There is no way in heck they could board so many in such a little time frame. Fact is Carnival as well as many other cruise lines count on the fact that many guests will arrive early to space boarding out. How about being honest and state boarding begins at approx 11:00, but the least crowded time to board is between 1:30 and 3:30.

    Just a suggestion!

No more mayhem than having 2600 people show up at 10:30 and all demand to be boarded prior to noon. Personally, I don't want to be in the cattle call to board.

  6. It covers soda and some non-alcohol frozen drinks but no coffee. These are covered by the program but don't count toward your 15 drink limit.

It's really not that hard to drink that much especially on sea days. I've purchased it on our last 3 cruises and think it's totally worth it. I drink Bloody Mary's in the mornings (start about 10am) and switch to margarita's or mojitos in the afternoon with the occasional beer then wines with dinner and during the evening with an occasional martini thrown in.

My break even point is 5 or 6 drinks and I like having the expense be capped.

I'm in complete agreement with spreading a few drinks out over the day, toss in a couple of non-alcohol drinks and the program works for me. The only problem is, my DH has not had a drink in 23 years and having to both purchase the program does not make it financially worth it for us. I wish there would be a way of a doctor's letter or something that would allow for only one person in the cabin to purchase the program.

  7. Oh cool, that makes me feel so much better!!! Thanks for this information. I cannot wait for this trip. 90 days sober today.

Congrats on your 90 days and here's to many more. Remember when wanting a virgin drink from the bar to send your hubby for it. So much easier if you don't have to wait while the bartender is pouring/mixing a cocktail for someone else.

My DH is a recovering alcoholic (20 years) and cruises with me all the time (I'm a one drink and a glass of wine with dinner) and we find plenty of things to do on board ship (for him most of them are involving eating) but we've never had a problem with people who have over indulged either.
