  1. I'm on board the dawn. We just got towed back to the dockyard. There is another ship coming in but I'm not sure which one it is.

Actually I had a good view on the webcam, she was under power with a small tug alongside. Came in at 7 knots, so it looks like an inspection is in order for two things.

    - any hull or propulsion damage?

    - why did Propulsion lose control?

  2. Plenty of website trouble - especially on Sundays - it seems. since you have until tomorrow I would call at 10 am Monday and get a confirm - if you have not got that by then. I tried to pay for my excursion for five and only four went through and then the fifth said unavailable. Was able to fix it over the phone. Do not delay past the final date though. Many have had their cruise canceled along with all amenities, by assuming....

  3. I've not done much research on any cruise lines outside of NCL. I have looked at Disney - which I think is considered more upscale. Back to perception of quality - I'd really like to know what you get. DCL is about 2x the cost over NCL for my current booking. (5 in a balcony suite.) Knowing I could go to the GV suite for the same cost as a balcony on Disney keeps NCL safe for now, even with the Royal Cluster F... :mad:that Del Rio is causing to go on right now.

  4. I've never seem it done early in the morning. Its usually the last port day a 2-3 hours before leaving. See my link 26:45 is where it starts, not many crew and it really was not that loud. We were on the Sun next to the Epic is Coz

Awesome video - thanks! - can I ask what you used to edit it? We had a;ll the same excursions and experiences on Jewel in 2014 and are going back on Dawn in 2016!

  5. I said I would share after a few responses - :D

I'm an early riser, but these days I usually get up sometime in the middle of the night too. No one really starts cleaning before very early morning on board - so you can be up enjoying the day! I spent some very peaceful time up all night on the Jewel - guess what - the entire 12th, 13th, and 14th decks are cigar friendly at 4am! I'll usually have a bottle of red wine with me, and have the ship basically to myself. I will see one of two cross the pool deck, and then see one maybe two workers pressure washing the walls and decks. But for the most part - quiet and cool.

  6. We board these vessels with thousands of others. We enjoy the parties, the gatherings, the family dinners, and so on. We also enjoy the solace of our cabin - be it an inside on deck 4 or the Grand Villa. But some of us sneak away from the busier areas to find our solitude - am I alone in this quest? Where do you find your 'me place' or maybe it's 'we place' with your beloved. I'll share mine after you answer.:)

  7. Actually the deposit is able to be used for suites too, just not Haven. I just booked five pax in a suite and used the FCC as the deposit - it works out to under 5% deposit - vs the 23% deposit 'called for'.... and well over a year to come up with the final payment....:)

  8. What is a REPO cruise

Not for the faint hearted, the ship is taken to a distant US port. Large marine vehicles are taken and they don't stay at their home any more - for a while... Hate to be that captain that goes out looking for his ride and it has been Repo'd...:D

  9. Hello Cruisers!!!

The Dawn is back in Beantown to take us all away to the island of swizzles and rum cakes and lazy summer sun on the pink sandy beaches and the best fish sandwich and Rum with ginger Beer !!! :D:D

So get your bags packed and tixs in hand and sun lotion cause Beantown is going to rock the Dawn all summer!!!

Hope to see fellow Bostonians and other folk on the ride there in August.

This will be our second trip to Bermuda on the Dawn, we are still shellbacks with the cruisin thang!!

    Have a sunny day - Y'all:)

Next year we'll take the lady down-river to the Western Caribbean - you Boston folks take good care of her.

  10. 11 months I'll be in one - with the big balcony. I suspect noise is not a problem. No one really starts cleaning before early morning - so you should already be up enjoying the day! I spent a very peaceful night up all night on the Jewel - guess what - the entire 12th, 13th, and 14th decks are cigar friendly at 4am!

  11. You have to log in to My NCL to register passenger passports, etc, and that is where you can make payments - at any time. I also have never waited until the deadline, God forbid something happens. I usually pay a little here and there. I doubt NCL could do it automatically - because they would be using a stale credit card from probably a year or more ago - not bloody likely the same expiry date, etc. Plus I too would be peeved or worse at an automatic charge of over $5000:eek: You can also call and do it over the phone, if you don't mind giving out your number that way.

  12. :)

I think it depends on the hotel director and how full the ship is (in particular the suites). I co-organized one in Nov. 2010 on the Pearl. We were quite suprised to be taken from the check-in desk over to VIP check-in. Truthfully I had no idea what was ging on (it was not explained to us why) so I just assumed that we were getting early boarding. Once on-board, we were give the whole VIP shpiel by Carlos Zarate the concierge (Lunch and breakfast at Cagneys, VIP debarkation, etc, etc) . Stupid me went up to him and said, Excuse me sir, I think there has been a mistake, we are not VIPs. He said, Maam, you are our very special guests this week. Do not question it, just enjoy!

It took me a few hours to put 2+2 together and realized that it was because of the M&G (it came to together when I saw the other organizer in Cagneys with us!)

We also got Champagne from the Captain, invited to a special cocktail party that was hosted in the 3 bedroom Garden Villa (wow!), got canapes each night, and VIP debarkation and tendering.

I do not think this is the norm at all, but perhaps because we were sailing under capacity (I think the hotel director said we were at 93%).

Basically, I would not expect anything but it certainly was a nice surpise!

    That is SO Carlos....
