  1. Hmmm, If it was me, i probably wouldn't be ready to sail for about a year after having a baby so I think you'll be asking for a pretty long extension. I'm not sure how successful you'll be at getting an extension longer than 2 or 3 months, especially if you've had the voucher for a while.

And I really wouldn't want to wait until right before it expires to get a yes or no answer. What if it's "no" and then it's too late to try to use it?

Under the circumstances, will they let you transfer it to a family or friend.?

I would hate to lose a voucher that big (and I'm quite curious what on earth happened to get such a large credit).

    Can John Heald help you?

I'd be bugging everyone I could to get a "yes" answer and I'd want it in writing.

If you are going to lose it, I'd be taking one of the New England to Canada cruises or a Bermuda cruise. Even if you never get off the ship, at least you'll be waited on for a week.

Good luck. I hope it all works out.

  2. My pvp called and emailed me yesterday about this offer. Inside cabins for $75 per person with $100 onboard credit. There were many many cruises available with dates thru October but they were selling out like crazy as we were talking. I was trying to coordinate with my travel partner and by the time she would text me back with a yes or no answer, many of the options were already gone. Although there were lots of ships and dates available, it was still pretty hard to find 1 that fit my schedule and offered an itinerary that I haven't already sailed.

I logged into the Carnival website while talking with him and it did not show nearly as many options as he was offering so definitely call, don't just log in and think the list that you see includes all of your options.

  3. I don't get marketing emails from Carnival at all because ex husband and I took 1 carnival cruise back in 2004. At that time, I set up both VIFP profiles with my email address because he didn't even have an email account. They insist that email address belongs to him and say it is flagged as "no emails". I've tried to have them change it several times over the past 2 years, but it never changes. I took 5 carnival cruises since 2014. I'd take more cruises if they emailed me about the specials. It's pretty frustrating. I guess I should be thankful that at least the booking confirmations come to me.

  4. Unless you have a balcony, you probably won't spend much time in your room having drinks anyway. If you want to bring ginger ale in case you have a queasy stomach, I'd order 1 six pack from bon voyage for $10 and I'd pack some ginger gum or ginger candies. They are lightweight and don't take up any space. I bring them all the time but rarely use them.

I always buy the bottled water which Carnival sells so cheap now and I bring one of those little flavor bottles that others have suggested.

I carry on 2 bottles of wine too but I never remember to get a wine glass from a bar before going to my room and I'm not going to bring a glass of wine to dinner with me in one of the little glasses they leave in the cabin, so I don't usually end up drinking the wine either unless I have a balcony. Oh, and about the wine, I usually ask someone in line behind me to carry 1 bottle thru security for me. On my cruise this month, I had 2 bottles in my backpack. They made me open the backpack to show them that it was wine, but they didn't question why I had 2.

Hope some of this info helps.

    Have a great cruise.

  5. I was just in M88. (Not sure if it's a 4b). It was very quiet.

However, I personally would not take this room unless there were 4 people staying in it. I should have taken a picture of the cabin. My bed was against the wall and there was an upper bunk mounted to the wall above me. It sticks out from the wall about a foot and it ran the whole length of my bed. I hit my head on that bunk more than once. Had to try to remember to sleep on the outside edge of the bed -and apparently my memory stinks while I'm sleeping. Mom's bed was in front of the window so the upper bunk on her side was only over her head. Luckily she is short so she schooched down in the bed to keep from hitting her head.

It was a free cruise for me so the room was good enough but not something I would pick on purpose since I travel solo or with 1 other person so I don't need the bunks.

  6. I was assigned late and waitlisted for early. I called and they changed my assignment to anytime and kept me on the waitlist for early. If late dining is your last choice, you gotta make sure they know it.

When we boarded, we were assigned Early so it all worked out great, but we were just a party of 2. It might be harder to get your 1st choice if you are a larger party who booked late.

  7. There was recently a question in another thread about whether VIFP points are earned on a bb cruise, and whether you would only get credit if you paid to upgrade from inside to ocean view or a balcony.

I just wanted to report that I cruised in a free interior room last week and today I see that I've been credited with 5 more days toward my next status. (I'm trying to get from gold to platinum).

    What a pleasant surprise.

  8. I think we played Quest last year on the Fantasy. It was late night, played in the Punchliner Club, adult themed, and the scavenger hunt consisted entirely of things people had with them in that room at that time. (I.e. Not a game where you ran all over the ship looking for things.) is that what you are asking about? If so, we played it in October 2014 on Fantasy but they didn't play it in November 2015 on the Fantasy, and I think the cruise director did change between those 2 cruises. I have read that the cruise director choose the activities but I don't know that for sure. Would love to hear from John Heald about the activities and how much the CD has to do with those activities.

  9. I'll be taking a taxi from the cruise port area to Atlantis to spend some time in the casino. Will there be taxis outside the casino waiting to take people back to the ship or do I need to arrange for the driver to pick us back up when he drops us off? Last year I used the water taxi but this time I'm traveling with my mom and she would not like the water taxi. In general she is nervous about just taking a taxi to the casino anyway, so I just want to know what to expect.

    Thanks

  10. I'm taking my Mom on the Carnival Fantasy next week. She just turned 80. She is not a beach person and doesn't even own a bathing suit. Mostly we plan a lot of R & R on the ship but I do want to get off the ship on both islands.

In Nassau I think we can take a taxi to the chocolate factory, then over to Atlantis for some casino time, but I haven't found anything to do in Freeport.

Does anyone have suggestions for non-strenuous non-beach things to do in Freeport?

  11. Yes your boarding pass and your luggage tags should both have the FTTF logo. Your Sail and Sign card will also have it in case you want to use priority tendering or the priority line at guest services. Also you will have a letter in your stateroom with a special phone number for guest services and you will automatically get zone 2 luggage tags for disembarking.

  12. Thanks for asking this question, and thanks for all the answers. I would love to dine at the chef's table but I don't eat any fish or seafood at all, and I don't eat tomatoes. I've been hesitant to try it because I'm so darn fussy.

I have 2 questions...do they contact everyone in advance to get their likes/dislikes? And for those who have tried it, was it primarily fish and seafood?

  13. I tried the steakhouse on the Liberty in April. It was not spectacular but it was very good... good enough to go again. I've read reviews where people rave about the service but I thought the service was better in the MDR on that cruise. I don't eat fish or seafood of any kind so my dinner options in the MDR are limited. I think the quality of the MDR beef has declined so that leaves me ordering chicken most nights, with an occasional pork or pasta dish. So because I'm so darn picky, I'll definitely go to the Steakhouse again, or pay the price to order a Steakhouse steak in the MDR.

  14. Thanks for the perspective about jumping ship. I've enjoyed reading everyone's experiences. My first CCL cruise was in 2004 on the Destiny and I loved it. The next year I went on RCCL Adventurer of the Seas because my travel agent assured me that it would be so much better than Carnival. I paid quite a bit more money on RCCL and stayed in a much lower room category. I loved that cruise too. At that time, I felt they provided a similar experience but not at a similar price. (I thought Carnival's food was slightly better but Royal Caribbean's entertainment was slightly better.). RC was just not worth the price difference to me. Since then I've been on 5 Carnival cruises, with a 6th coming up in January.

An Alaskan cruise is on my bucket list and I'm about to book one with Princess. It's very expensive, partly because it's Princess, but mostly because it's Alaska. I've actually been a little worried that I will be so spoiled on a Princess cruise and I'll never be satisfied going back to Carnival. I've been equally worried that I won't be "wowed" at all and I'll feel like it was not worth the outrageous price. We'll see.

  15. No one has ever commented on anything about my cabin at check-in and I'm usually pretty chatty. I don't think you have much to worry about. Of course it's possible, but very unlikely.

As for sleeping in a balcony room, pull the curtains completely shut and I think it will be dark enough. If you are worried about slamming balcony doors (which never bother me), you might consider bringing a cheap white noise machine. It would be a shame for something like noise to ruin what should be a fantastic balcony room.

    Have a great cruise.

  16. Well if it's any conciliation, I've seen it happen the opposite way too. On a cruise last year, a friend went down to the front desk and insisted they remove an erroneous drink charge from her bill, which they did. When she told me about it the next day, I reminded her that I paid for some trinket for her when we were on an excursion because she didn't have cash. When we got back onboard, she bought me a drink as repayment. So the charge was valid but Carnival removed it from her bill when she complained.

I don't think there is a deliberate attempt to double charge us but most of the crew work 60 or 70 hours a week. Under those working conditions, I'm sure they make more mistakes than land based servers, including ringing things in twice.
