Happy birthday for the 7th David.
I would like to ask you for some help on P&O UK M&G's how do I contact you?
-
How many people outside of Australasia can differentiate between the New Zealand flag and the Australian flag?
I know we just consider Australia as our western isle but I'm sure we need to be recognised on "our own" after all we are world leaders in a good number of things!!!!!!
Yes they are reminiscent of corporate flags but that is good in my opinion. Lets face it Canada made the change and didn't regret it and little (in size) Norfolk Island is known world wide.
So numbers 2 or 4 would meet with my approval.
(OK wait for the comments!!)

Great capture David, thanks

Hi Pete, We are boarding at San Francisco also, disembarking at Sydney. We are staying at the Hilton, Union Square the night before the cruise flying in from the UK early afternoon on 24th. Don't know what time we will get there or how far that is away from you. (we're not Kiwis or Aussies though - UK poms!)
Edsnan
All welcome Edsnan. (In fact we are ex poms from Bournemouth 40 years ago!)
Keep in touch and if we get a positive result we can organise a meet up in SF or even a meet and greet on Aurora.

I know a lot of New Zealand / Aussie cruisers have taken advantage of the recent GREAT special on the San Francisco to Auckland/Sydney leg of the Aurora world cruise next January (over 100 pax from one online travel agent in Auckland alone!)
We are amongst them, flying out of Auckland on 23rd Jan and staying for 2 nights at The Sheraton, Fishermans Wharf before we board the Aurora.
I was just wondering if any would like to discuss San Francisco or Ports of Call across the Pacific, or arrange a meeting at the hotel before we board?
I have started a thread on the P&O UK roll call.http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2250100
see you there

Hi David,
Please add us in January 2016.
Aurora, 25th January, San Francisco to Auckland.
Thanks.
Kiwipete and Norma.

We did this cruise on Aurora in 2004.If my health allowed me to fly , I would be booking in a shot. The bargain we thought we got then , pales into insignificance at the prices being offered today.
If you like Oriana Pete , you will love Aurora.:)
We've done it! Booked this one and really looking forward to being in San Francisco again and to sailing out under the Golden Gate bridge.
Thanks David.

Not quite that much yet.
200 pounds is around $AU 428 or $NZ 473.
However ,I do begin to wonder how long it will be before they start paying us to cruise:D:D
Aurora, I believe , is the sister ship to Oriana, and almost identical.
Did this cruise on Oriana twice and loved every minute so have to consider it seriously.
Especially as we have enough airports to cover the air fare!!!!!!

A recommendation from the enquiry is that cruiselines should include in the safety instructions to passengers on what to do in the event of a 'man overboard' incident. It is reported that Carnival are expected to adopt this recommendation.
Obviously not regular cruising people. Already done, and has been for a long time!!
-
Yes. Did that same cruise on Aurora in 2004 . Its a segment of the World Cruise. Great cruise on a great and now classic ship.:):)
We have done the same segment twice on the Oriana which is sister ship and identical to Aurora. As David says, a classic ship and a great cruise. If you're thinking about it just "Do it" you won't be sorry!

I thought the elephant park would be accessed from Benoa rather than Lombok, if going from Lombok you would have to catch a ferry to and from Bali and then cope with the traffic from the ferry. I have seen the queues waiting for the ferry to get over to Lombok, wouldn't want to risk it if on a cruise schedule.
Maybe Carnival offer it as a shore trip from Lombok? sorry if I have misunderstood.
My sincere apologies, yes it was Benoa.
It must be my advancing years and retreating memory!!!
-
As you said time is an issue in Lombok. Traffic is a nightmare so we decided this was one place we would spend the extra to do a "ships tour" so as not to "miss the boat".
We chose the trip to the elephant park and would definitely recommend it to anyone remotely interested in elephants.
A very interesting bus trip to and from the park with a stop in the town on the way back.
The elephant park itself was just amazing. Great setting, great restaurant, great elephants doing rides etc. A memory we talk of often.

Good morning David.
Please could you remove Norma and I from the 9th and 19th September cruises on Golden Princess to Alaska and across the Pacific.
Health and mobility problems determine that we stay closer to home. So please could you add us on 29th November, Auckland to Auckland via Melbourne on Golden Princess.
Many thanks David
Pete

Looks like "Nessie" could make an appearance!!!
-
Does Dawn have Australian plugs (power points?) in the cabins- particularly in suites? Or does the ship still have it's US/Europe pairs from when it was built?
TIA!!
Australian / New Zealand plugs.
-
beautiful day yesterday by the looks of it being NZ probably snowing today
:D;):p
Any weather is just perfect for playing Aussie in the Cricket World Cup!!!!!
-
Keep safe Anna.

The machines will accept Australian dollars or you can charge to your on board account.
It's worth noting that the machines don't pay out winnings in cash, you have to transfer it to your cruise card and then Go to the casino office who will pay you out in cash.
IT DOESN'T GET CREDITED TO YOUR ON BOARD ACCOUNT

Can't help you with "Golf Cruise" but can recommend a company in Napier that organises "Premier Golf Tours".

And to you too David. It would be good to see you on a cruise again in 2015.
Princess excursion Tranz Alpine Railway Akaroa
in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Posted
It is a long journey to get to the start of the rail trip and of course the same length back to Akaroa.
I think you would be better to spend your money on the Taiarei Gorge rail journey in Dunedin. This is truly a fantastic experience and better than the Trans Alpine in my opinion.
We will be joining you in Auckland on the 29th.
Can't wait.
