  1. We dock at the port of Civitavecchia at 7 a.m. and leave at 8 p.m.

What is reasonable for me to try to see/do in that window of time in Rome? I've never been to Rome before. What's ridiculously too much? What's manageable?

Is the Vatican worth bothering to try to see? Or is just being in St. Peter's Square enough?

I don't want to leave Rome and feel like I missed something essential.

  2. We are traveling on Carnival's new ship, the Vista, in August. At one stop, a tour guide said they can have me back to port 30 minutes before the ship leaves. Is that enough time?

We will be ending our day with our tour guide by having a cocktail at sunset in the port town, close to the ship, until we head back to the ship. So if something unplanned to delay us occurs, we will have an option of cancelling the cocktail and going straight to the ship.

Is 30 minutes enough time to re-board at a small Spanish port? (Palma de mallorca)

    Thanks!

  3. I just booked on Monday this week through the Carnival fly program using my PVP and saved about $425 per ticket. I paid $874 each rt to Barcelona on Delta vs. the $1,296 that was being advertised on Delta's website. That was close to the lowest airfare available rt at the time - American was right about $1,288. Our flights are confirmed and space held, we just have to pay in full by the due date for the final cruise payment.

  4. I'd like to take a 7 day or 8 day European cruise to warm weather ports in August or September this year, but I'm having trouble finding cruises that embark and debark at the same port. I need to do this to save on airfare. It's approximately $1,000 more per person to do two one way trips to/from Europe vs. booking a round trip airfare.

I see that carnival has the new Vista ship with round trips from Barcelona, but anyone else?

  5. Okay, thanks. There are two separate dolphin excursions for Mahogany Bay. One is an "encounter" and one is a "swim" and they are at two different locations. I'm not sure what the difference is.

  6. We're on Carnival and will be visiting Mahogany Bay. I'm considering the dolphin encounter vs. the dolphin swim at this port and trying to figure out which is best for us. I noticed that the swim is off a pier or something like that, and the encounter is walking into the water from the sandy beach, which sounds nicer. Also, the timing of each are different, both only last 2.5 hours, tho. One starts at noon, the other at 10 a.m.

What else is there to do on Mahogany Bay before/after dolphin swim or encounter? There are two adults and three kids (ages 7, 12, 14) in our family.

    Thanks!

  7. There are five of us traveling - two parents and three kids. I thought Carnival offered connecting rooms in a 2+3 configuration, with the two parents in one room and our kids next door in a room with a door that connects inside to our room.

I can even see that configuration available on the Carnival website on their Conquest class ships.

But I talked to a Carnival customer service agent last night and she said that they do not offer that in their Conquest class ships. That any room with three beds does not adjoin to a room with two beds.

Has anyone done this? Had three in one room and two in another and had them adjoin, while on a Conquest class Carnival ship?

We're going to the Caribbean next summer, on a 7-day cruise, so I'm trying to get connecting rooms since our youngest will only be 7 years old.

    Thanks!
