I go to the Mariner Luncheon because it is the only time they give out the HAL tile for the ship you are sailing on. Great souvenir!
Is the Mariner luncheon on embarkation day?

Do you happen to remember the bus pick up spot? Is it close to the docking area?

We LOVED the Budapest to Nurnburg cruise. The markets were all different and amazing. We cruised on AMA Waterways- I highly recommend that company.

Will we be admitted to the dining room on formal nights with a nice dress shirt (possibly a tie) and no jacket?

I’ve been reading about the extremely low water level this summer - what is it like traditionally in the spring?

I just googled this, looks like you can use € but the exchange rate won’t be favorable. If possible, use your credit card for purchases or withdraw a small amount of Albanian Lek. I guess if I were there for only a few hours and only interested in buying something like water etc I’d just use €’s but anything else...your choice.

Thanks! If we do an excursion credit card would be my choice. Possibly lunch/drinks. I will go with CC and if not Euros.

Our ship has Sarande, Albania for a port stop. Can we use Eoros there or will I need their currency?

fayew, our cruise in May, on the AMADante, Medieval Treasures had 130 people, 60 were Canadian and 1/2 of them were from Nova Scotia and our hometown. We all knew someone that knew someone. It was one big kitchen party. Had a great time and made new friends from here. The waiters were busy at the new "Sip and Sail" pre dinner cocktail time, lol.
What was your weather like in May?

OK, our first river cruise is about to start, AMA Dante, Aug 09, Nuremberg to Luxembourg, with precruise in Prague and post cruise in Paris.. Suitcases come out on Aug 05 and we will pack, as light as possible (that will be interesting). Catch our flight for Prague on Aug 06, for our short precruise stay there.
We are looking forward to this trip on AMAWaterways, as we have heard many good things about this line. Bringing lots of shorts and sunscreen, as temps are quite high, 80s/90s. Fingers crossed that we don't run into any itinerary changes/long bus rides due to the low water levels on the rivers.
Please share your thoughts when you return - we are booked on the AmaDante for a May cruise. Which cabin category did you select?

My travel agent just advised us of a new app that AMA Waterways has for river cruising. Might make things easy to check out while travelling.
AmaWaterways recently developed an app calledAmaCruiser, which is available for free and features a live cruise-tracking mapas well as photos and information about each of the destinations and theavailable shore excursions. The app gives users the opportunity to upload theirphotos and create a personal cruise album or share images via email or onsocial media. The daily cruise newsletter is also made available during thesailing, with the daily schedule of events”
Thanks fir the AMA App hint!

Sadly it can't be done. But it was a good idea.
One time when we knew we were going to spend time at Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, we stopped at a store not too far from the dock and bought some bread and cheese and took that with us.
Maybe you can find a store near your dock and pick up a few items to take with you.
That is a good plan

You mention two different events in your title and your post.
What used to be called the "Mariners Welcome Aboard Lunch" is held on embarkation day in the Main Dining Room from approximately Noon to 1:30 pm and is now open to all passengers.
The "Mariners Luncheon" is for Mariners only, held later in the cruise towards the end and you will receive an invitation.
Which one will we receive our tile?

We did the Christmas Markets cruise: into Budapest and out of Prague. Both cities are amazing and extra time there is a good plan.

Lanai cabin on the Volendam: good, bad or ugly?
in Holland America Line
Posted
I am a solo traveler and I have booked a lanai cabin on the Volendam for two cruises - first one October 2023 round-trip San Diego Pacific islands to San Diego. The second one is a longer one 94 days round-trip San Diego to the South Pacific circumvents Australia New Zealand and comes back to San Diego through different South Pacific ports. I sailed on the Mazdaam but did have the lanai cabin. I’m very fascinated by this option since I like the promenade deck. Just wondering if anybody has had any lanai experiences could share pictures any issues with the designated seats outside the door noise etc.
Thanks,
Robert
