  1. My old standard is "you can't help me, ok, then give me your supervisor." If their supervisor can't fix it...repeat until you get someone who can. Don't settle or give up, push it up the chain and eventually they will get tired of transferring you and just fix your problem.

 Don't hang up, ask the agent's name and then keep requesting, nicely but firmly, to be transferred to the next higher up. Always tell the next higher-up the name of the person you just spoke with So sorry this happened so close to your sailing date, especially since you are at work and you really don't have the time to do this. It may be helpful to call late tonight. If you get "accidentally disconnected" call right back. The suggestion about John Heald is a good one, too.

  2. I am thinking of doing the small boat in Tracy's arm. Will I be able to make early seating for dinner if I take the second boat at 2:30? Any thoughts if I want first or second boat?

    Thanks

We are scheduled for the first excursion, which leaves at 8:30 a.m. A little early for me but I'd rather be early than be tired and in need of a nap on the second one.:D

  3. SailorJack, my friend, my friend. You've just accomplished what no other poster in my many years of being on Cruise Critic has ever even come close to doing. Things have been a little less than happy-go-lucky here in the Colorado mountains and I really REALLY needed a good laugh. And laugh I did! :D Sometimes I had to bite my finger to keep from laughing out loud and waking my DH who is sleeping in our recliner on a six-week recovery program to heal three broken ribs.

Well, my friend SJ! You did it. What a joyous time I had reading your review. I will be doing the Double Digit DooDah for some 72 more days before doing the Single Digit Shimmy and then enjoying sail away with DH, D Sister, and D - BIL & SIL on our way to Alaska in July. In the meantime I will be informing my fellow travelers to check out your review.

Salut, my friend. Especially with the "tuh kill yuh!" The flavored tequila sounds delish.

  4. I have your first choice and I have used it when needed. I should mention that I have everything (25 foot extension cord, surge protector, an adapter so I can plug a three prong cord into a two prong outlet, the 3 plug extension you listed as your first choice ...) and I have not had any problems.

    As to Carnival plugs ...

This is from the Carnival Spirit in 2010 ...

Is there such a thing as a convertor that will convert 220 into 110. Something I could plug into the 220 and the plug a 110 extension cord into the convertor?

  5. I use one of these, Belkin makes them. About $20 on eBay. They have three outlets, two USB power ports, surge protection and a turn-able plug. I also got the idea from one of Zydecocruiser's reviews.

Surge protector or no surge protector? That is the question. This looks like something I would like but it says "surge protection" Will it get confiscated?

  6. I'm trying to get as much done as early as possible for our Alaska Cruise on Carnival Legend in July. If you have a picture of your non-surge protected extension cord, Please post it for me and if possible give me the brand name. This is on my list for this coming week.

Having fun doing the Double-Digit Doo Dah!:D

  7. I can't speak for the OP, but the on line booking algorthym will often limit your selection based on what "offer" you have selected.

I encountered that very dilemma, GrillinChillin. I was trying to book online and was having a very hard time.

I called Carnival directly and was able to book the cabins I wanted, that were unavailable when I tried booking online myself.

It always pays to not give up and pursue other avenues in order to get what you want.

I believe that was her way of saying that I wouldn't look at the site despite the instructions of where to "take a gander":) The poster often makes such helpful remarks:rolleyes:

  9. Due to several health issues that make standing for any length of time difficult for my husband I requested wheelchair assistance with embarkation and debarkation. We have priority boarding. Should we arrive early? My paperwork says wheel chairs are available on a first come-first served basis. How does this work, both embarking and debarking? At debarkation will he be assisted from the cabin to customs?

The paperwork says there is no curbside assistance for embarking and debarking. Who will push the wheel chair? We are traveling with BIL and SIL who do not have priority boarding. If my BIL pushes the chair can he and my SIL board when we board?

Will we catch any flak or raised eyebrows if once on board he no longer uses the wheel chair? (Not that I give a &@^> !)

  10. No more Triple Digit Tarantella! Now we're into the Double Digit DooDah! This has been a long wait. Just filled out all my docs and printed boarding passes, luggage tags etc.

Carnival Legend is sold out, according to what I can see, so I guess there is no way to upsell to a GS or the ultimate VS.

Just read a review of an Australian itinerary. Loved it. Wouldn't mind trying some of the food offered only on those itineraries. What is vegemite? Only heard the word in a rock and roll song from the '70s.

  11. I knew I had seen one previously and just co-incidentally, I'm reading a review on the NCL board by a cruiser that also sails Carnival and she's the one that did it ... she reviews her cruises as her son, it's very entertaining.

Anyway, here's a link to the review with pictures as to what she did to her sons crib. It's near the bottom of the review and around a crib, but could easily be adapted to go around the sofabed.

Clever! Wonder if she took it down everyday?

  12. I've been reading posts re: the one electrical outlet in each cabin and the criteria for bringing your own power cord. I read that there is one outlet located at the desk area and that the one in the bathroom is useless except for electric razors.

My questions are: Is the outlet installed vertically or horizontally? Are the plugs one on top of the other or side by side? How much space is available between the outlet and the top of the desk? Does anyone have a picture of the type of power cord they were able to use and specifically a photo of it plugged in in the cabin?

  13. We use a charging station that has 3 plug-ins and 2 USB ports. One problem we had wss that the outlet in the room is at the desk and is placed very low, only about 1" above the table top.. We didn't have enough clearance , so had to buy a 12" plug extender to use it.

What is a plug extender? We will be three in the cabin. My DH sleeps with a BiPap+a portable oxygen concentrator. That is two plugs. If I want to recharge my phone to use as a camera and our other cabin mate needs a little electricity also it appears as if we may have a dilemma.:( Are there other places on the ship where we may plug in long enough to charge a device. I've done it many times, sitting on the floor in the airport.:o
