  1. We did both about ten years ago when they were slightly different itineraries.  Two weeks was not too long and at the repeated stops we were offered alternative activities.  It’s a long way to go so we wanted to make the most of our visit. An incredible place.

absolutely not similar. original was One port in Egypt and then on to Saudi Arabia and Oman. Why would u think it's similar doing 3 ports in Egypt backing in the sun on some beach and then returning to Aqaba.  enough, be sensitive with your comments as its frustrating enough being on this cruise and sharing

When I booked over a year ago it was a round trip from Aqaba to Aqaba with two stops in Egypt, Sharm, Jeddah and Yanbu. Then it was altered to Aqaba to Muscat with no Egypt.

  3. I am a regular cruiser with Silversea with over 300 days on board starting 18 years ago.  I am travelling solo so while not big bucks, the cost is significant.

It appears to me that passengers in the USA have been treated more generously than me in the UK.

  4. I am booked door to door on this cruise. Today I was sent the link to the airlines to choose seats.  Also the link to book Blacklane transfers.

Then I checked the Silversea website and the cruise in its altered state is there for sale with port stops in Safaga (for Luxor), two ports in Saudi, Salalah in Oman finishing in Muscat.

However, on checking My Silversea, Safaga has gone and just the three ports and six sea days remain.  The formal nights have been added!

It is extraordinary that the loss of a port is not communicated to future passengers and that the website is offering for sale a cruise that will not happen in that form.

An option to transfer to another cruise is not available to me. I have asked.

  5. I received this from my TA today:

I have just spoken with Silversea and they have advised that there will be itinerary changes on your sailing, however they do not have definite details yet, but hope to have the information in the next few days.

She said she will get back to me on Monday.

  6. I was on a cruise on the Moon which docked at Honfleur in May 2022.  We used the Shuttle for the short trip into town.  They ran all day every half an hour from the Car Park in the centre of the town.

  7. Hi Fletcher

We did a cruise on the Silver Cloud in November 2012. It was a round trip from Barbados to Manaus.  The Cloud was not an expedition ship at that time. The itinerary on an Expedition ship would be different (better, in my opinion).

The Amazon is obviously very wide and there are few towns but we stopped most days (Belem, Santarem, Boca da Valeria,  Parintins, Alter do Chao) and were overnight in Manaus.

    - we found it fascinating and the river itself is extraordinary with differences in the colour of the water in a couple of places.

    - the towns are small but are a good starting place for nature visits.

    - on excursions we did indeed have great sightings of mammals and birds but from the ship not so many.

    - we sailed the Breves Narrows which is only possible on the smaller ships and was a delight.

    - we sailed both during the day and overnight.

    - the lights on deck and on balconies were turned off from dusk as you suggest, to discourage insects.  We did not see any mosquitoes although a few other interesting insects arrived on deck from time to time.
