  1. We agree with To the sunset.  We used SPB and were in a group with four others from our ship plus two more in a minivan with driver and guide for two days.  It was very efficient and moved at a pace which suited us all.  The less able were allowed a rest while some of the others scurried up the hills.

A new move by SS is that VS members who are entitled to L P Rose Champagne at the start of a voyage now get a bottle for each segment that that are on board for

The total number of guests is 260 only, so no crowding in any restaurant

I think the Rose LP must be for 250 days thinking back to when we first had the treat.

We will be staying in London for a few days before the cruise.

For sure we will go to the National Gallery and St Martin in the Field for a day, but is there some hidden gem you would recommend?

    Thank you.

If the weather is kind, walk to the top of Primrose Hill for views of the City.  A short stroll from there is Camden, always an interesting spot.

Marylebone High Street is also worth a visit.

  4. Silver Box arrives anything up to three months before your cruise and if you have used a TA will come via them.

On expedition ships, including the Silver Galapagos tours are discussed and booked on board.

Have a wonderful cruise.  Galapagos is magical.

  5. Today will be a bumpy zodiac ride ashore, then a brief hike around parts of the island to see puffins and Arctic terns. It looks rough out there. Hope we make it!

Time to gear up with every waterproof item of clothing we've brought. More later!

JP when we went to Vigur in mid June we were soaked on the return trip.  One of our friends had her life jacket inflate in the zodiac!   They work.  It was rather exciting.  Hope you had fun and many thanks for the updates.

Given that November sea temps are near coolest, would having both be a good idea?

We went in November and I wore a rash vest and swimming costume under the wet suit and was never cold.

  7. We were on the Cloud last month and as soon as I boarded I noticed a smell of sewage on Deck 5 in the corridor.  I mentioned it to the Hotel Director and he said it would be gone when we sailed.  He was correct but each time the ship stopped sailing, either docked or anchored, the smell returned.  On the day we disembarked there was some kind of extractor plugged in mid corridor.  I don’t remember what it was called but it was to alleviate the pong!

i didn’t experience a bad smell anywhere else on the ship.

  8. Does this mean you can arrive at that restaurant at any time during that one hour window, or do they give you a more specific time once you get on board?

You will receive a card on the morning of your reservation.  We usually confirm with the Maitre D that day what time within the slot we plan to come.

We are looking forward to our Silver Shadow cruise coming up shortly.

One thing I am curious about is the reserved dining time.  For example, we have a reservation that is confirmed as "Early - 7:00 to 8:00".

Does this mean you can arrive at that restaurant at any time during that one hour window, or do they give you a more specific time once you get on board?

    Thanks

  10. , I tried to book the walking tour on the Isle of Scilly and was immediately wait-listed.  The only other alternative is a tour of gardens.

i think you will find that you visit both St Mary’s and Tresco (that is the case for our Cloud cruise in June). All the islands are very small and easy to walk around.

  11. Laundrette is a self service laundry.  The Silversea ones have two washing machines and two or more tumble dryers as well as an iron and board.  I wouldn’t worry about any noise.  We have been opposite the laundrette in the past, with no problems.

  12. I see from the Marine Traffic app that Silver Wind was not able to anchor at Anguilla today and she is sailing towards Tortola 12 hours ahead of schedule.

The same thing happened when we were on board at the end of January. We circled in the vicinity of the anchor area but when the tender platform was opened, the waves were breaking over it.  I imagine the same thing happened today.

Anguilla will be sorry not to have had the cruisers dollars.  The stop in January was to be the first visit by a Silversea ship.
