  1. Thanks to intervention by David Dingle and David Rousham, Carnival/P&O UK, British Military OBC has now been added to our two cruises on Aurora (£125) and Oriana (£75), plus in addition we got early booking obc of £220 and £170 respectively.

It really was a mix up on the original application, P&O staff in UK and Australia unsure of the system, flick passing the issue.

I am really impressed with the personal response I got from Messrs Dingle and Rousham. Well done gents.

    Thanks to all.

Thats great news enjoy makes it all worth while Perseverance:)

  2. Western Med, next month. And it couldn't come sooner!

The upgrade wasn't massive, only one grade up. But as P&O paid for most of the cruise because of our disastrous February cruise, I for one aren't complaining about the upgrade :D

Have Fabulous time enjoy your upgrade , hope this makes up for last cruise :)

  3. I took some 2 in 1 washing tablets, the water on the ship is so soft that I only needed one per wash. Depending on how long you are cruising/how many washes you anticipate a couple of packs of 2 don't take up much space.

Thank you everyone for there input ;)

  4. So far, P&O hasn't charged for the launderette on any ship. I think if they tried to do that on Britannia, there would be an outcry!

Either bring your own washing powder/ tablets, though or buy from the shop.

My dearest wife has asked has anyone tried these before

Fabrite Washing Powder In A Sheet - Non Bio Fresh Linen - 24 Sheets

    she is looking at

    found them on Amazon

dont want to carry boxes of soap powder etc in my suitcase lol:D

but if these are pre packed individually would be fine :)

share them between us keep weight down in case

  5. As ex serviceman been both conflicts South Atlantic ,Gulf , I am really proud too see our actions

been rewarded as good will gesture i never asked for Free on Board Credit or for Free Upgrades even though I have sailed with Princess Cruises in past , Thomson Cruises , it personally it does not bother me old saying if its for me it will not go past me comes too mind it was just off chance i was paying T.A when i was looking inside my wallet for my debit card that young lady saw i had Military Veterans card being that she was engaged or Married too serving soldier , TA said did i know P/O give extra on board credit to Servicemen or Ex Servicemen in my case to this i informed her i have already received onboard credit on Select booking of £70 she took copy of my Army service details phoned me few days ago told me increased to £75pp i am really thankful for Extra O.B.C may not sound much but pays towards Gratuities and I am going to have wonderful time on Board Britannia Jan 1st 2016 Celebrating my silver wedding we love to thank you young lady TA for being very observant in our case :)

  6. There is a posting on one of the other sites about Neil being ill.

The bestest bestest captain in the whole wide world as far as we are concerned.

Our best wishes going to him with the speed of a 1000 gazelles, to recover quickly.

Personally i don't know this person but as captain i wish him a speedy recovery

  7. oOhers have posted they booked a select fare with no cabin nos, just a guarantee.

So do pando sell more of a certain type of cabin at select fare, than they have. Then hey presto thos people who paid a select fare, but not a certain cabin, do they get an upgrade.

In that sense people paying a select fare, get upgraded first. just a thought as to how/why pando sells select fares without people having an actual cabin.

Thank you English Lady for kind understanding feedback :)

  11. Had fabulous time /excursion with Reyno Tours

General Tour is about 4 to 5 hours.

Entails a 40 minutes drive from the Capital Roseau through West Coast Route into the Layou Valley Rain Forest, 15 minutes stop at Mr Nice Fruit Stand, 40 minute stop at the Emerald Pool , 20 stop at the Jaco Falls, 1 hour stop at the Mero Beach then back to the Ship.

it was our first cruise with Sea Princess cant recall how much it cost but was reasonable for 4 tourist

  12. Where is the cabin you have booked. If it is a fore or aft cabin, you could get upgraded to a midships inside.

Also there needs to be cabins of the grade you "could be upgraded to" available.

Sometimes if you have booked the highest grade within a category (ie mid ships inside, high deck) you could be upgraded to the next type of cabin.ie outside(with window)-but could be for/aft or lower deck.

Or the upgrade fairy could go completely outside the box and put you in a suite.

If you do get upgraded please do come on here and let people know what you went from and to-might help us work out how the fairy works.

We have Booked Front of ship Deck A PF

just looked at my Cruise Personaliser

    Deck:TO BE ASSIGNED

    Cabin: GUAR

    Category:

if this makes any sense please enlighten me

so does this mean they have not made there minds up where they are putting us

    David & Angela:confused:

  13. Some house builders give discounts and special deals to people serving in the forces, some shops do NHS staff discounts, loads of places do student discount, civil servants can get Costco cards, pensioners get cheaper meals in pubs or cinema ticket discounts. Sometimes deals and bonuses are done as a "Thank You", or an acknowledgement of peoples hard work and commitment, other times it's done to help boost a companies profile with a large section of the community.

I think it's a nice thing that p&o are doing, and if they were giving OBC to anyone for whatever reason I would rather it be to current/ex service people than to people who complain about the state of the towel animals, or the attitude of the waiting staff.

At the end of the day it's a commercial decision and brings them in-line with the other parts of the company so it's hardly surprising: I just hope they expand it to other nationalities.

Well said Cloudyrain as ex serviceman could have not said it any better you hit Nail on head

  14. Hey you don't know that! None of us know how it works and this was only my own personal speculation - and you booked early and you booked Select and you registered for an upgrade, so you have quite a few chances of having the Upgrade Fairy visiting.

Good luck! But whether you get an upgrade or not, enjoy your cruise as I'm sure you will.:)

We sure will have wonderful time Sailing on new ship Scriv

    Thanks :)

  15. Oh gosh, no idea, sorry...... the only thing I have observed over the past couple of years is that there are very few upgrades from an Inside to a Window. People seem to get upgraded within their category.

But again I must stress this is purely my own speculation!!

And it may all be very different on the Britannia!

Oh well looks like lost out on upgrade no worries :(

  16. What type of booking did you make ie Select/Early Saver/Saver?

I think when and which price you book at now seems to have an influence on the likelihood of an upgrade.

    Good luck.

This will be our first cruise with P/O Britannia sails on 1.1.2016 . we have paid Select price

would we have slim chance of upgrade as our Deck A is now fully booked for that 2 weeks in Caribbean where would you estimate upgrade would put us oh its Inside Cabin for now or no chance as its new ship confused about upgrade status we have never received or asked before when sailing too Caribbean either on Princess cruises or Thompson cruises in our opinion would be fantastic to be upgraded cabin with window :)

  17. We also went on the Carnival Fascination out of Jacksonville, FL on our first cruise a few years ago. We drove there from Birmingham, AL and it wasn't a bad drive at all. The port was easy to navigate and we were boarded within an hour of arrival. It reminder me of a regional airport.

Me, my wife, and our 2 kids paid something like $1750 for an ocean view

OMG i have just paid $5505.52 cents in your currency for 2 weeks on P/O Britannia Inside cabin for 1.1.2016

which just includes myself and wife but then again i do have too fly too Barbados lol:D

  18. You will have to wait until April as the first cruise is not until March.

Ooops I knew it was a new ship did not know it was not finished yet lol

Thanks guys need wait a bit longer glad i have Booked cruise
