If you can book the shows you want to see before you leave home I'd suggest you do. A few of the blue man group shows were sold out on last weeks cruise & the dream girls.
The resturants you can book while on board there's plenty of screens about the ship that show you what's full & when's available.

Yes ill like to hear about her med visit. Ill wave at you in Naples next week I'll be on Epic but wishing was on Oasis.

Still undecided about TA Kim' date=' maybe?
Someone asked if there is a perfume shop on board, there certainly is, I had a cheeky spray of perfume every night. I had my eye on a Calvin Klein perfume it was $65 onboard and I did not buy it. I saw it in Barcelona airport and it was reduced from €55 to €29 euros.
Another question was about duty free shop in Barcelona port, I think there were 3 or 4 shops, 2 of which sell alcohol, 1 wine the other spirits. This year we bought 2 bottles of wine, the scanner was set up just before entering the ship but no one was manning it. If you're undecided you can always get on the ship to check security and then go back to duty free, it's not far.
OP great report, it sounds like we did totally different things and both had a great trip![/quote']
Thanks ill prob ask my cousin to check barcelona airport on her way home so can see if best price us away on ship, airport or Debenhams. ;)

Thanks for the insight I'm doing this cruise next week. A question which might be a biggie. Is there a perfume store on board & if so how do the prices compare to uk or USA. I've a gift to get & debating waiting to see if on board of get it at airport/barcelona or Italy.

I'm taking the super concentrate robinsons with me on epic. I struggle to drink water & at home always have dilute squash.

I just had a look at your sailing on the US NCL site and there are insides, balconies, and mini suites available. The MX comes out at around £1040 per person after a rough conversion from USD. They still have B1 and that's showing at £1010 per person. Those are the prices after taxes. Obviously the UK would have different price points but hopefully that gives you an indication.
I don't know why NCL UK and NCL US doesn't show the same thing - we had this happen when looking at prices, too.
Thank you for this. The prices are little more than we paid. Mum will ask if booking early was the best choice least I can now say that yes it was since last minute doesn't always mean cheaper.
-
So I know it's paid & I don't have to think about it while cruising.

That sounds like a different situation. You call and ask if a cabin upgrade might be available; that might be the only way.
I suppose they could have sold cabins to the UK travel agencies who are still marketing "their" cabins; if so, "their" cabins are only available the that TA's clients. In NCL's mind, such a cruise is sold out.
Or maybe cabins are available via NCL but they are not putting them on the website.
How are the prices of better cabins on the travel agency site?
Thanks for this reply, that makes sense. The prices for a mini suite are about £899 but we've an aft balcony which I'm not giving up. It was more a idea on pricing for future reference than a change.
-
I don't think it's sold out as it's available on some uk cruise sites. Just not showing any prices on ncl just says email for info or request callback. I'm happy with the cabin chosen just curious about prices for higher cabins this close to sailing.
-
If your cruise is within 45 days & is no longer showing as been able to be booked via NCL website how can you view the prices? Or even see if a higher class cabin is a worthy cost to upgrade?
Do you just ring them & see what's available?

The 1st sight of the ship & just hearing the sea.

Thanks for your reply.

I'll be in Barcelona for the weekend with my Hubby before our Epic cruise. He'll fly home morning of cruise. my mum flies in same day from UK around 12pm.
So can I check in without her or do I need to wait for her to arrive at port.
Thanks in advance.

Wow exciting, I'd surprise him the day before but try to get the eve shift off & maybe drop him a few clues around the house. This way your not having to secret pack for him too.

Quest channel has mighty ships at 10pm featuring the Epic. It's ch167 on sky. Should add it may be a repeat & some may have already seen it.

Thank you for the quiet zone pics & detailed location.

Following & waiting to here about peaceful nice seating outside on deck reviews.. I was debating posh passes but unsure if mum would join me as she nit a sun queen & prefers shade.

Thanks for your reply.
-
Thanks. I'll stick with the balcony since it's the same layout.

Do the mini suites have a proper enclosed bathroom?
I'm looking at upgrading our balcony to a mini & wondered about the bathroom situation. ( sharing with my mum)

Sailed RCCL before & they had little smuckers peanut butter patties with the jams at breakfast. do ncl( epic)have similar or is it just in a big tub for all to spoon out?
-
I normally get t-towels or dish cloths I think you call them in America for my parents.
We used to collect fridge magnets but our fridge is now built in so no way of attaching.

I use a type of lanyard that clips onto the waistband of your pants and has a retractable cord on it. I clip it on the waistband of my pants and then my top covers it and no one can see it. I even use it on my dress pants. It is always handy and no one will know you are wearing one. I purchased it in the gift shop on board. I also bought one at a local store. I like it better than wearing it around your neck. It also keeps it from getting demagnetized from any electronic device or magnets in or on your purse.
Gwen :)
I use something similar for my work pass & it's quite discreet, I normally store my sea pass in my bra if stuck without a pocket or bag while pottering on ship. :D

I think they price it higher for the European market too. I noticed the allure seems more expensive in the med than in carribean. Now that could also be due to port taxes & other factors.
I was looking at the 3-4day cruise on anthem but not if it's going to be £600 each.
