  1. Does anyone have any experience with renting a vehicle here? My husband was part of the Hurricane restoration with his KY National Guard Unit and wants to show us around the island where he spent nearly 2 months assisting the locals with the clean up.  🙂 TIA

  2. I was in St. Thomas back in 2006 and loved it!  My husband was a part of the Hurricane Relief Mission with the Kentucky National Guard that went down afterwards.  He was devastated and was humbled with the fact that he and his Soldiers could assist with the recovery.  He is anxious to get down there in September and drive around to the places where he spent a lot of his time.  It will be good for our kids to see where Daddy was for almost 2 months helping the locals get back on track and restore the island.

FirstAnthem, You should find out how many ships are in port the day you are in St Lucia.

We’ll be there in late September & will be on the only ship so I doubt we’ll have the crowd-factor to deal with for our Cosol Tour.  We only chose Cosol over Spenser Ambrose due to all fees paid at conclusion of tour while SA requires a $10 PayPal deposit.  Not a huge deal but I like the flexibility in case we change our minds when we get there.

Hi!  If you don't mind my asking...what sailing are you on in September and when?  We will be there in September, as well! 🙂

  4. Just a hint from a local  if you're driving to Santa Monica, apart from the parklng lot by the pier (tbh I wouldn't bother actually trying to park on the pier itself), all the other ocean side parking lots close at dusk (6:30 pm-ish). We usually park in one of the City's parking lots on 4th Street, which will also be handy for the pedestrianised 3rd Street Promenade...

Thank you, so much!! I really appreciate the heads up! I'll take any and all "hints" [emoji39][emoji39][emoji6]

  5. Good morning !! We are staying at a hotel near LAX and have a rental car for a few days before cruising. We are taking an uber to Long Beach. My question is: should my whole family load up the rental and return it to LAX and catch uber from there ? Or should I leave my family at the hotel, take the rental back myself, shuttle back to hotel and take uber from there ? Make sense? Haha

  6. Thank you, all! I'll check out your recommendations. We like everything. Good seafood, all American, Italian, etc. Definitely don't want to spend a fortune since we are a family of 4 with a very nice vacation laid out (but also don't want junk or eat what you pay for /cheap quality kind of food either.). I want to stay away from chains that I can find anywhere.

Yes, I made the ignorant mistake of booking hotel by LAX just bc of not wanting to spend of fortune on that part of it and also because I knew we'd have a rental car and just drive wherever.

  7. Hey! We will be out there starting next Friday. We fly into LAX around lunchtime. Are there any must eat at places? Two adults and two children (ages 3 & 8).

Our potential itinerary is below so any suggestions you have, let me know:

Friday: LAX (hotel) and plan to go to Santa Monica for the afternoon/evening

Saturday: Hollywood/Beverly Hills. No real schedule aside from a 11am two hour tour.

    Sunday: Disneyland

Monday: driving to Long Beach to board the ship

I heard there was a place in Beverly Hills we should go for breakfast but I can't recall name.

All suggestions welcome!! Beachfront restaurants are also of interest. We will have a rental car.

    Thank you!! :)

  8. As far as a bus in Hollywood I would reconsider, just this week they had several that were shut down to to major safety issues. I agree with the Universal Studios Tour, but you have one of those in Florida, and one of the Disney world Parks have a movie theme, if I remember correctly. Just eating at the Universal Studios City Walk area, with interesting shops and the Hollywood theme would be fun for all of you. You could easily combine that with a drive through Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

The stars do not really live in the places the tours tell you, and I would not feel safe walking around Hollywood with children.

Just the buses or any tour guide company ?? Did you mean a company in particular ?

  9. Thank you all so much! I just got caught up with these messages. Yeah we are stuck at the Westin, as we did Priceline. [emoji53][emoji53]. We are doing a cruise so I didn't want to spend a ton on a room and after looking at half decent beach hotels, the prices just weren't worth it.

How about the hop on/hop off buses ? Any thoughts?
