  1. The use of the Piazza most of the day and night for loud activities and entertainment was one of our biggest complaints about Royal/Regal Princess. On the Grand Class ships you can relax with a dessert and cappuccino and listen to a solo piano or guitar or string trio and have a conversation. This is impossible on Royal/Regal.

On our Feb 2016 Regal cruise there were very few loud and annoying activities in the Piazza. Most events were fantastic and not too loud (like a great string quartet and some great street performers) and all events were quite brief. The majority of the time the Piazza was a great place to chill and people watch.

  2. When we were on the regal in February, we boarded at around 11:30, waited at a nice table by the pool while eating a nice grilled chicken sandwich, and went into our room around 12:15. The official "room ready" time was 1:00pm, but since our room was on Lido, I "checked it out" at 12:15 and it was completely ready, including the canapés I ordered. So we just went in early. PS don't waste your $ on the canapés.

  3. Motley fool, a very successful and respected stock advisor service just issued a "buy" recommendation for CCL, indicating very good prospects for the stock to outperform the broader market over the next several years. So you can add good prospects for share value growth to the dividends and the shareholder credit as reasons to buy. :) Of course, if you're the kind of person who freaks out when share value rises and falls within a 10% window, then maybe it's not for you.

  4. I booked a California coastal on the Grand out of SF before the 3 for free promo started and had to pay a non-refundable deposit. I assumed that they only do a non-refundable deposit on certain cruises because other cruises I looked at when making the booking did not have non-refundable deposits.

  5. For the first time in my cruising life we have 2 cruises in our personliser, just booked a 10 day Mexico on the Ruby for January, and a 14 day Transatlantic in April on the Crown.

The Transatlantic is the interesting one as we plan to book a round trip flight from the UK to Florida in April and a return flight in October, if all goes to plan we can sail to the USA on the Royal and then use the other half of our ticket, 2 cruises for the price of one flight

Funny, I just experienced the same "first." It's nice, isn't it. :)

  6. It's my understanding that immigration information must be provided to Princess, who in turn provides it to immigration officials, several days ahead of time or boarding will be denied.

FWIW That's exactly what I was told by a Princess rep when I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get my renewed passport until about 2 weeks prior to sailing. She said get the info in as soon as I received my new passport or else it could cause big trouble.

  7. I think I was censored:eek: Talking about unheated beds:eek: my last post isn't here:confused: Im amazed.

I CAN'T understand why its soooo hard to believe that the chairs/beds were NEVER HEATED. My LAST (thank god) thoughts on this.......If by physics, logic, chance, alignment of the stars or just plain luck....that these things were at one time heated......THEY ARE NOT HEATED NOW :D and have not been heated the past few years.

Waiting to read the lame reply on how the company knew nothing about the 'Broken' heating elements. And the promise that they will be working ASAP:rolleyes: That bridge for sale is called the Brooklyn Bridge.

I have no illusions about them correcting the problem. But your assertion that they were never heated is unsound.

In any event, I choose not to take the absurd excuse given by Spa personnel ---that they are not designed to be heated and were never heated--- lying down. I would rather continue to confront Princess and the Spa Management Company with this "lie," than simply shrug my shoulders and accept it.

I was given a full refund for the Enclave fee for myself and my wife. If the problem persists on my next cruise, I will turn up the heat on the Spa management company even more.

There isn't any Brooklyn Bridge being purchased here.

  8. 2015 on the Royal. We were told the bed were heated when we purchased the package but for the 17 days we used them they were not heated. Told the staff but that fell on deaf ears.

Thanks for sharing. I'm doing my best to "turn up the heat" on the management company, or whomever is responsible, by shining as much light on the issue as possible to the corporate powers that be.

  9. I wrote a post....must be on the other thread about these beds.

I said you cant find ANYONE at Princess ( their management) that could tell you this very day whether these things are heated TODAY wherever these ships are in the world. For a company to say they had no idea the heating system wasn't working and no one mentioned it in 3 plus years. Makes me shake my head.

There should be a box near the chair or at the base of the chair, where maintenance can be done.....Or do they have to jack hammer the whole chair if a $2 fuse blows ....

Can't wait to here the response you get. Its acknowledged they wanted the beds/chairs to be heated. But they cant/wont admit they NEVER were working/hooked up/designed correctly.

Im sailing the Regal 3 times in the next 11 months (6 times) since 2013. Ill bet dollars to donuts they wont be working, baring a Drydock between now and then. I enjoy steam rooms and ONLY pay the high Enclave price with OBC...never out of pocket money.

    Good luck everyone, happy cruising.

I too am skeptical as to whether they will actually correct the problem. But the absolute stupidity of the cold beds just makes me feel obligated to do my best to confront the issue.

  10. Since I understand some really love the hot beds I am glad to here that they are supposed to be heated.

I don't think the snarky replies you received are deserved. Thank you for finding out.

Will anyone get back to you with an explanation?

Thanks for your support. Some snarky replies are always expected, as there are "a few in every crowd."

The Spa manager said she would do her best to let me know the results of her inquiry.

  11. I just spoke with Cust Svc rep from the company that manages the Regal and Royal Enclave. She confirmed directly that the BEDS ARE DESIGNED TO BE HEATED AND SUPPOSED TO BE HEATED and that if they are not it means that something is wrong.

She said that she has never had any complaint about the beds being unheated reach her ears before mine. She also said that internal inquiries have been sent to their operations department, and that she was eager to get to the bottom of the situation so it would be corrected.

Let's all pray that this actually results in the problem being corrected!

  14. They serve no purpose. To think they once worked and have been broken--FOR YEARS:eek: Suggest the hard working maintenance workers dont know their jobs. The Enclave can get hot and 'everything'--floors, chairs, beds etc can appear hot. The truth is ....They have never been heated (chairs, beds)

You wont find anyone who has used the Enclave who will tell you they found the chairs/beds hot on two different cruises.

NEVER, will you find someone who found them Cold on their first cruise...BUT HOT on their next cruise,

You can't find anyone with Princess who can tell you they are working this very day...on a current cruise, where ever the ships are in the world. I doubt they are heated on the Majestic, unless they've taken notice of these threads.

My hope is to get to the bottom of this in my talk or talks with Princess.

My powerful suspicion is that the beds are designed to be heated, but that there is either:

1)a technical issue with Regal/Royal (i.e broke and too troublesome to fix or design defect makes them dangerous to operate) or

    2) a legal issue (i.e. concern over liability), or

    3) a Spa management issue with Regal/Royal (ie they don't like people hanging around too long on their lovely heated beds).

For what its worth, I think that any of these three possibilities is more likely than Princess being daft enough to stick unheated rock beds in their new Enclave.

  15. 3

It was the first week in March of 2014. I believe she entered service in May or June of 2013? Somebody will correct me if I am wrong. I can say for sure they were not heated. They were warm because the room was warm, but not at all heated.

I think if they feel warm it is due to being heated.

If they are at ambient or "room" temperature they "feel" cool because the "denser than air" (or more heat conductive) tile transmits heat out from your body at a faster rate than the ambient air.

On my cruise they felt "cool" because they were unheated and at ambient room temperature.

Any Physics people out there to confirm/rebut this for me?

  16. 2 things....we are speaking about Princess ships. The 'Princess' Grand class ships have obviously heated beds. 'Princess' advertised their new ships would have this feature and they DO NOT. I guess this is the point this discussion is about.

My hope is to get to the bottom of this in my talk or talks with Princess.

  17. Ive sailed the Royal once--Regal three times.

IMHO , the beds have NEVER been heated--no heating attachments to the chairs. The room may be warm (makes chairs appear warm). But they've never been attached to a heating element. Just 8 rock beds

But advertisement says they are heated--so it must be true.....NOT

I don't recall any visible "heating attachments" on the beds in the thermal suite on Sapphire. The heating mechanism is inside the chairs IIRC.
