I did not see anyone parasailing the day we were there, but I know they had other things you could rent. We saw folks using pedal boats and also small hobie cat sailboats. I do not know the prices, though.

No, we never left the port area. After lunch, three of our group did a little shopping and watched the folks swimming with the dolphins for a while. The other two stayed on the ship.

We booked it, but it was pouring rain when we reached the port and the excursion was canceled. :( So I cannot provide a description for you guys. Sorry!

Sorry, but I can't really help with the dress code questions, as we will either have a sandwich at our beach loungers or at the outside bar/grill. They do have showers and changing rooms, so if it turns out you need to change for the restaurant it should be fairly easy to do that.

I found them via Facebook. I sent a message and they replied within a day or so. I made my reservation that way for our port stop there next December.

Some additional information (as of 10/11/13): Chairs and umbrellas are US $10 each. Taxi from Port Zante is about $16 (1-4 people) and takes 10-15 minutes travel time. You get showers, restrooms, and they also have food and drink available (indoor restaurant, terrace grill, or even beach service where they will bring something to you at your lounge chair). There is no downpayment required. They told me that they only hold your reservation for 1 hour, so if you say you will be there at 10:00 and don't show up until 11:15, you probably will find that you no longer have a saved seat.

I was wondering the same thing. Their website has no reviews for this excursion posted yet. Anyone????

We have a private tour booked for next month with Victor Bodden tours. We did not pay a deposit - will pay cash when we arrive in Roatan. We made the reservation last January. I don't know if perhaps the policy has changed and a deposit is now required? Also, if the ship skips the port for some reason, we will not be charged.

Does the Carambola Beach Resort accept US $ (cash) for payment? In reading through these boards, it seems that the Marriott requires a credit card for food/drink purchases. Would prefer to avoid the international currency conversion fees that the credit card companies tack on, if possible. Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed comparison of the ruins. We are trying to decide between Altun Ha and Lamanai, so I will share this description with the rest of our group. As we will be traveling with my Dad (80 years old) and two in our group are not very active, I'm thinking that the shade of Lamanai will be the deciding factor.

Can anyone tell me how prevalent mosquitoes are at Lamanai and Altun Ha? Thanks.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences onboard! We are sailing on the Jewel in October out of New Orleans. This will be our 11th cruise, but our first on NCL so I was glad to read all the details and see the photos. I appreciate you taking the time to post all of this!
