  1. Ok...we're getting down to the important stuff now...

Any good happy hour specials ( 2 for 1, etc or whatever) at any of the bars on Conquest? Not really interested in fruity "Drink of the Day" deals...hic!

Good luck, They do occasionally have specials for things like the captians party, or some of the bars have $1 off for specific for drinks all day...

Other than that, there is really not that much that they do. If you are heavy drinker, just get Cheers, then after 7 beers, or 5 mixed drinks your remaining drinks of the day are "free"/

  2. Just a word of warning, the group rate is not always the best rate you can get. Even when they throw in things like OBC, grats or a 1 hr cocktail party.

We simply refuse to pay higher for a cruise to be "part" of the group... So the few group bookings we have done, have always been outside the group fare, because it was far cheaper ( inside cabins and usually over $200 cheaper).

What I am getting at here, is be prepared for folks to complain if the fare is higher than what they can book on their own, and be prepared for several people to book on their own... They will still be on the cruise, and they can even link to the master account so they sit with you for dinner ( assuming assigned seating) but they wont count to the number you need to hit with Carnival for the perks to kick in.

    Hope your cruise goes great!

  3. Ok, I did book today under the $49 deposit for the porthole cabin. So if down the line I decide I want to change to an OV, would the $49 dep still apply or would they request the full deposit requirement since the sale would be over by then?

And is there a fee to change your cabin/upgrade after booking like there is for changing the cruise?

You would need to pay the diff between the $49 and what ever the current deposit is for the current sale.

As long as you dont change sailing date, and dont downgrade your room you will not be charged a fee to change it.

  4. As I was walking down deck 5 the first day I saw the staircase behind the taste bar coming up from 4 and instantly remembered the advice. Then forgot it for a couple days, but I was on 7, aft, so I found going up or down a couple flights of stairs to be so much easier than elevators. I spent most of my time on 5,9 and 10 anyway.

We already booked another cruise for March and are inviting everyone we know. The cruise was such an amazing experience.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise! Be careful... 1 cruise a year somehow magically turns into 4 cruises a year when your not watching.

I hope you have a lot more exciting and fun sailings in the future.

  5. So frustrated beyond words!! Why oh why must Carnival have the $49 deposit sale and the entire time their website and mobile site not work properly is beyond me. I mean really is that not what tech people are paid for within the company? All I keep getting is errors and have been getting them for three days. I know before everyone says call your PVP I had one before and they would not stop calling and harassing me so therefore I prefer to do my own booking and plan myself!!

Working fine in both Firefox and Chrome for me.

Clear your cookies, and your any other temp files. Reboot and then try again.. As for the mobile site, it works but it is not as robust as I would like.

You can always also just call the regular 1-800 number, not your PVP.. They dont bother you after they finish talking to you. And since you are already assigned a PVP, then its not like you would get another one.

  6. Thank you for this...I have the first night reservations and I'd hate for this to happen!

    Thanks

We have done the Steakhouse, Cucina and JiJi several times as our first night, and never did they give away our table.

I am very surprised to hear this, and wonder if it is was more of a group of friends took the table... because they were not sitting next to each other, and the wait staff did not stop them..

It cant hurt to go tell them, but they should not give it away.

  7. i have two different offers.

Premier is PC3 and has cash back, FTTF and cheaper rates.

Ultra CODE P3L does not mention cash back, DOU, FTTF, and higher room costs. It does show big cash and gifts.

What is the difference or advantage of the ULTRA? I have been on two premier so far.

I will start with I never qualify for any of these. I just know from a co worker who gets them all the time.

Ultra is a really special cruise, that results in a free gift, nice gift too such as a 60 inch Ultra HD TV, or a Ipad ( he won both on two different cruises). they also have gifts nightly, special parties, free steak house, etc.

Premier has most of the same stuff, just not the free gift promised on every cruise.

He cracks me up about how happy he is to get the free cruises... I swear per cruise he tells me he loses between 3k and 6k on the ship each time. He jokes that the last cruise will result in it being his actual free cruise ( when he does not gamble)

  8. I was told that it is all based on play time and average bet that you play. I was only playing Craps, and averaging ( per their screen) $20 per bet. I had to play for about 2.5 hrs a day for 7 days on a 8 day cruise before I got the drinks on us card.

If you play slots, you get it at 1500 points, which is about $3 dollars play through per point... so if you play $4500 dollars you should get the drinks on us card... or so it has been explained to me... at 500 you get $5 casino cash and at 1000 you get another $5 casino cash.

I dont really think that table games are rated fairly considering the amount of money that is wagered every throw of the dice or ever spin of the wheel, but that seems to be how they do it,

  9. That's the old menu. Not only has the menu changed, but the portions are smaller. In a way, I'm glad. The portions being larger on the old menu meant I walked away without being able to eat dessert and feeling so full I was almost sick to my stomach.

The charge is now $90 pp.

I believe it is 90 on some ships, my reservation for next week on the Elation was confirmed ar 75.

  10. Until recently, every night I wore a polo shirt and black slacks.

Now I sometimes will wear nice black shorts and the polo..

For formal night, I used to go with a tux, then a suite, now I just we wear a polo and the black slacks, unless my wife would like to dress up. Its just not worth it to me to bring and waste the time and energy to dress in a tux for dinner in the MDR.. And besides, I dont violate the dress code, I just come in right at the bare minimum.

  11. I have a few question?

What kind of food do they prepared? Do you have choices or is it this like here is your food eat it or leave it? Also what if someone can not eat shellfish do they make something special just for them?

The menu is preset, and they will provide you the menu. Here is an example ( not sure if they are using the same one from 2014, I think it has updated since then ) http://www.zydecocruiser.net/CarnivalSunshineBloggers/chef_table/index.html

When you confirm onboard you will be asked about allergies and they will make you something that is similar to everyone elses but safe for you. My wife does not eat onions and mushrooms and they made everything for her without them ( sauces included)

  12. I would definitely sail on the Fantasy again - I love the size of the ship and the things that she has to offer. I'm trying to talk my husband into a quick 5 day on the Fantasy this fall before we do our big family Magic cruise in February - wish me luck!

I had to chuckle at this... If my wife even remotely mentions doing a cruise, I am texting my PVP to get the best rates...

I hope you can sway your husband to go on the quick 5 day.. I used to think they were to short, and while I would love to only do 7+ day cruises, 5 days enough to carry me to the next major adventure.

Nice review, thanks again for taking the time to write it.

  13. Since I have been posting off topic so much I figured I would check on your actual topic for you.

Carnival does not sell Cruise cash for casino in their Funshops. I called my PVP and he said that he has not heard of that, but did know of the bar/photo/cash versions.

I did several searches online and have not found any place that refs it. So, I do not think this still exists. I know Princess does it, as we saw it last night when looking for something else in their cruise personalizer.

  14. I wasn't aware they had casino cruise cash. I knew they had bar cash, photo cash, and cruise cash.

I have the Carnival credit card and if I purchase the $500 cash i get double the points which would be 1,000 points which equals $10. So goes the theory of making more in the credit union

Interesting, my Carnival credit card ( which I stopped using because I have better options) gives me double points also for Carnival Purchases, but 1,000 points is worth $1, not $10.

If yours is a giving that rate of return I should probably ask them why I dont get that. That equates to 20% cash back for purchases on Carnival, which I have never heard of any company getting anywhere near.. It is also 10% back on all regular purchase. 2% like mine card offers makes sense more sense for the credit card company.

Even if you do get 20% back, the problem here is I could still do that after the cruise is over, having my S&S card charge to my Carnival card. Earn my .5% at the Credit union till a month and a half AFTER my cruise. Then pay off the card in full and get the bonus points from it on my next cruise. And since the OP has two booked there is a next cruise to apply it too. Now you have used your money to make more money, not given it early to a corporation.

  15. Has anyone done this in Freeport? How was it?

What beach is it at? We did a snorkel excursion at a beach resort / beach in Freeport and there was another excursion there that was all inclusive.. They looked like they were having fun, and the food and drinks were good ( we just had to pay for our own after snorkling). It was at Paradise Cove...

  16. Because I'm smart with my money. The few cents my $500 would earn in my simple savings account (until my cruise) would cost me more (in travel costs) to go withdraw it before my cruise.

Thanks for the answer. Not sure I agree, but I do see your point.

I have a cruise for Nov 2018, I just cant see giving any company any more money than I am required to ahead of time.

Perhaps if I was cruising next week then I could see doing it, but not 165 or 650 days out as your signature indicates your next cruises will be. Surely, you will drive by the bank between now and your cruise to go grocery shopping, to work, or to even deposit something...

$500 at .5% ( not hard to find ) would yield $2.50 for the year... or almost $1.25 for the time till your next cruise. My credit union is now offering 1.5% so that is about $3.75.

Again, good luck with getting the answer and thanks for answering back. It is always interesting to see other peoples point of view.

  17. Hi!

I've always purchased the max ($500) general cruise cash each cruise. If I purchase the casino cruise cash, does that amount automatically go into my casino Player Bank or is it OBC?

    Thanks!

I cant answer your question... I do have a question though, why are you in such a hurry to give Carnival your money ahead of time? You could simply put the money in a simple savings account and withdraw it to apply on the ship.

Hopefully someone can provide you an answer.
