  1. Loving your review! And the rating system!

We're DVC members, so we're at WDW every year - our tradition is to add a cruise to our land vacation at Disney. We've had two Disney cruises and they were fantastic, but I've never understood those who have the attitude that if it's not Disney, it's not worth doing! We're sailing on the Oasis this September and I can't wait! Just like I can't wait for more of this review!

  2. Thank goodness the OP never sat by me when I pull out my little packets of vinegar. In Canada we have white vinegar on french fries (I can't eat them without it), but the rest of the world doesn't seem to have anything except that horrid malt stuff - so everytime I pick up fast food I add a few little vinegar packs to my stash to take on my travels. I never realized until now that I was so tacky...:o

  3. Wow! If I smoked I'd be lighting up a cigarette right about now!

This has to be the most amazing report I've read - and the good news is - I haven't read your last reports - so I have them to look forward to!!!:D

Thank you Sherri - and YES - you may come along on my next cruise. (See I was paying attention). Best Wishes for successful surgery and a speedy recovery! Can't wait to read about your future adventures!

  4. Enjoying your - and Ziggy's - adventures so much! Everyone has to have a pineapple drink at least once!

As for future solo cruises. I think another RC would be a good choice. NCL somewhat caters to solo cruisers - we've never had a bad cruise on an NCL ship. They also have "freestyle dining", with a good selection of restaurants. At your age I think I would give Holland-America a pass - they cater to a much older crowd than you and Ziggy! (I presume he will be going along). Celebrity, too, tends to have an older dynamic. Princess is a good line - but you may find the majority of cruisers a bit older than yourself - I think alot depends on the time of year. Many, many people love Carnival (just check out their forum) - and there are certainly lots of young people on board...

You sound like a girl who really appreciates nice things, nice surroundings and fun times - I think you'll find that RC and NCL (and perhaps Princess) will deliver what you want. Don't know how interested you are in sailing Disney - and you have to keep your eye out for bargains - they do exist! - but those are never-to-be-forgotten experiences! Amazing.

  5. Here is an appeal from me to all the locals (and anyone else) who can help me with information to put together a "Beatles Route" on this thread for people that want to explore the history of the Fab Four on foot from their cruise ship. Specifically, I am looking for any 'hidden gems' that perhaps not everyone knows about, but they must be accessible on foot within no more than a half mile or so from the Pier Head.

I am ashamed to confess that I am not a big Beatles fan (in the sense that I do love the music but have never visited the sites or museums).

I am not talking about the outlying sites, like the houses, but just ones in the city centre. These are the ones I already know:

The Cavern and Matthew Street area

    Hard Days Night Hotel

Eleanor Rigby statue in Stanley Street

    Beatles Museum at Albert Dock

The Beatles story on the Pier Head

The Beatles exhibit and show at the Museum of Liverpool

I am sure that the Beatles experts on this site will know more great places and I would be grateful if people could post the details of what they are and where they are on this thread. I will then endeavour to map out a trail for people to follow when they visit, as several people have enquired about this.

Of course, if such a thing already exists elsewhere, I would be grateful for a link so that I don't re-invent the wheel! Thanks:):)

Liverpool? That's near Scotland, isn't it?;)

  6. I'm enjoying your review so much!

Being a complete newbie to RC cruises, could you give me a little info on the Cabanas? How much do they cost to rent for the day? Do we book them at the RC site, whilst booking excursions, etc. How many days out can you book them? I apologize for so many questions! I'm just trying to get my bearings, planning-wise! Thank you!

  7. Missy - I am enjoying your report so much! It's just making me smile - your enthusiasm and excitement of your first cruise is contagious! Never lose that excitement and joy in new things - it makes life so much nicer! (I like Ziggy very much. A million years ago when I was young my boyfriend (now husband) and I had an intrepid stuffed traveller too - Zachariah the Raccoon; oh the adventures that Zachariah had!) Anxiously awaiting more!

  8. I think I read that Clp n Zip in Roatan was taken over by Carnival so must book thru them to zip line.

Technically it is Carnival, but we didn't book with them - we just walked up to the Clip & Zip counter when we got off the ship. This was just last Thursday.

  9. We went cavetubing in Belize last Wednesday with CavetubingRUs.com I can't say enough good things about it; Dave, Henry and Marcel were wonderful and the experience was amazing. I simply e-mailed them and Dave responded to me immediately. They meet you right outside the Port when you tender Belize. The cost was $50. per person, which you paid after your experience. The caves are about a half-hour EXCITING drive from Belize City. You must be able to walk half an hour carrying your Tube. I am past middle age and had no problem at all. You also have to ford two rivers - which is fun and wonderfully refreshing. You are required to wear shoes that can get wet - no flipflops. A pair of old sneakers or Teva sandals are best - water shoes are not as good, as the paths are composed of rocks. The guys are friendly and experienced and have a lot of information on the plants, animals, etc. as you walk through the rain forest - I promise you will love it - especially being "blessed" by the Mayan gods! As for ziplining - if your next stop is Roatan, your boyfriend will be able to zipline just a short (5 minute) walk from the ship. Clip & Zip offers 11 ziplines and terrific guides. It cost us $60. per person. lDon't do the Ships tour. Just walk off the ship and you'll immediate ly see the sign for "Clip & Zip". We were able to have a private tour - just my husband, myself and our two guides. As we finished the ship's tour was just starting. We were able to walk back to the ship, shower and change for the beach. Lots of time to do both. If you don't want to zipline you can spend about an hour shopping while your boyfriend goes - but I highly recommend trying it - it was so much fun. Michael and Joshua were great guides. (it's been named one of the 5 best ziplines in the world)
