  1. They do not bring irons and ironing boards to your cabin on Celebrity.

Now that bites the big one! On all the other Cruise Lines I have been on, you could have an iron and ironing board brought to your cabin for immediate use. I have always had one the first night, ironed what I needed ironed, then the room steward would pick it back up, then I was good to go for the week.

On Carnival, they had "Ironing Rooms". I know most people are not like me, I iron everything! Yes I am Nuts! I like to look crisp and clean........it's my nature....I know what you are thinking:rolleyes:....but I am surprised that irons are not available thru the room steward.

Drats, I guess that I will have to have everything sent out to be pressed.:p

  2. hahaha great idea, thats what I always do :)

now can I ask a question about getting iron in my cabin since I dont want to have my clothes wrinkled?

Who cares about ironing, it's only a seven day cruise............

When my clothes are wrinkled, I just send them out for pressing.......no need to iron......but it's only a seven day jaunt...........

but here is a wonderful solution........Downy Wrinkle Release.........but just don't substitute for Botox, it does not work........

  3. We were on the Silhouette in cabin 7356 that had the bed by the bathroom. This was the very end cabin on deck 7, just like your cabin on deck 8. However, because there is one less cabin on deck 8 due to the aft structure, I'm guessing that your cabin will have the bed by the balcony.

Another way to tell is to look at the deck plan. Look for cabins that have a square which indicates that the sofa is also a trundle bed to sleep an additional person. These sofas are always located by the balcony, therefore the bed is by the bathroom. Every second cabin will have the bed by the bathroom and vice versa. Even if there is no square appearing in the cabin plan, you should be able to tell where the bed is by counting off every other cabin from the last cabin with a square. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the methodology! I have counted and it seems that the bed is by the Balcony....that's a big YAY! Easier access to the closet and more room to dress for dinner. Thank you so much, if it's any different when we sail, then I will report back. I love this thread!

  4. Hi Sandi,

First, wonderful review! Thank you! We were on Reflection before you and really enjoyed it.

Second, educate me please!:D I saw a few posts and even pictures of fabric boxes/containers you brought with you on a cruise. What do you use them for and is it worth bringing them (luggage weight issue)?

    Thanks!

I wanted to let everyone know that I just found the 10 x 10 cubes at Target in the special "Dollar Aisle". They are Knock Offs of the Closet Maid Cubes and guess what..............THEY ARE ONLY THREE WHOLE U.S. DOLLARS A PIECE. They come in Grey, Natural, Lime, Purple and Hot Pink. Perfect for the cruise and weigh practically nothing!

    WHAT A FANTASTIC IDEA!

The Original Closet Maid Cubes are around $9.00 a piece but.....there is a great 7" x 7" pair for 7 bucks that will fit into the cubby holes on the nightstands by the bed.

The collapsible hanging shoe rack is $13.95 and has two hangers (not Velcro) to clip to the closet rod. Also does not weigh more than a pound.

Thank you so much for your review..............LOVE IT!

  5. I am re-posting my original question as I think it got lost in the tumble.

Thank you to anyone who can give me an insight.......

I have been following this thread since you started it and now we are taking our first Celebrity Cruise. Thank you so much for the great photos and insights, and to all the other contributors as well.

My question is this, we are in cabin 8338 on the Reflection, (and I have seen the photo you have on this thread), however, in your opinion, will this cabin and balcony be kind of dark due to the complete overhang?

And, is the bed by the bath or by the balcony.

Thank you to all who can provide some details on our cabin choice.

  7. I noticed earlier in the thread someone posted they had time to shop and do other things prior to boarding but they took an evening cruise.

Our ship leaves at 4PM will there be time for us to get off the Kon-Tiki and possibly do the mountain top skytram?

The NCL Excursion is from 9:30 am until 12:30pm, the EPIC leaves at 4PM, plenty of time to go on up to Paradise Point for a Bushwacker and then head back down to the ship for sailing.

Years ago, though, once you got off the Kon Tiki, if you found your way back to the ship, even tho there were hours before sail-away, you were lucky! So many ships left their Kon Tiki passengers at the dock.........or just tossed them aboard....that was the Kon Tiki and their famous Rum Punch...sad those days are gone!

  8. I remember the Kon Tiki's in St Thomas, Grand Cayman and Antigua on many cruises I took in the 1980's. Oh my gosh, each time that famous Rum Punch crept up on you and everyone became everyone's best friend in about an hour and a half into the trip. I remember stumbling from the Barge to the ship, only to crash in the cabin and miss dinner..... each and every time.

It was so much fun, as it used to take the crew over an hour to get all the drunks off the boat. There were more alcohol induced "I Love You's" mumbled to strangers and it became a Conga Line, Limbo Loving, Dance Fest with the best Hi-Energy Music from the Steel Drum Island Band.

I am on the Norwegian EPIC this Thanksgiving and I saw that the Kon Tiki was back. It brought back many memories and initially I thought that it probably would not be the same experience. More tame, more of the Spirit of the Kon Tiki, from what the reviews have said. Frankly, I don't think I can drink like that anymore (even though I fantasize about trying to).

Well the Rum Punch is still there, albeit not free, but still available. We are definately booking the excursion thru NCL, and, what the heck, let the Rum Flow! Limbo here I come!!!

  9. Oh great we are in 11226 and 11222 so guess that means NOISE!!! Think I better stop reading the boards because I am getting more and more discouraged about our cruise and booking it on the Dream :( we even splurged for balcony and adjoining room with our friends....NO kids.....darn

Thats why we chose a spa balcony on deck 12...sure it does not have a roof and we get the sun all day and the stars all night, plus lots of people with condensation from their drinks dripping down our back....but who cares....no boom boom boom from the weights, and since there is no reason for privacy on our balcony since we WEAR all of our clothes, then Yippie!!! Who cares if someone can look over, if they do, then I will just look right back and wave hello and invite them down for a martini!
