The crew does not get the tip until after the cruise so your statement sounds like if you spend over your allotted budget, the tips are staying off.

I don't have an allotted budget the tips IMO are part of what I owe at the end of the cruise but I like to see what "extra" I'm spending at a glance and it is harder when the necessary amount is already included. I also prefer to pay excursions directly to a credit card and not have them on the account.

You can also request a glass from the bar, pour your soda over ice before you enter the dining room and throw the can away no one will know where it came from and you won't get any looks.

I will remove mine as soon as they add them and put them back on the last day. I'm not a fan of tipping before service but I don't want to deal with handing everyone cash either. I know this adds time but I should be able to do it at the kiosk and it will make keeping track of my onboard spending easier.

That's my suggestion, they don't. I'm thinking about bringing my own SF maragrita mix on board and hand it to the bartender and say "tequila only." "Skinny Margarita" mix is good - zero calories, no sugar, it works for me.

If you ask for your Margarita "flat" it's made with lime juice instead of sour mix,it's not as sweet but there are far less calories and less sugar.

What you can do.

Use a luggage lock and slide it through door lock. This will work.

It effects the air conditioning for the people down the line from you

In addition if the door is open your child could slip out onto the balcony without you noticing

This is what i'm worried most about. Without the door latch I don't know if I would even be able to sleep.

Friendly suggestion.... bring a bunje (sp?) cord with you to keep the door open. That's what we did (when the weather was nice) and it kept the kiddo from going in and out. The doors are kind of heavy so I was always worried about him getting his fingers slammed.

Thank you but I'm worried about them being on the balcony with out me so I would rather keep it locked when we are not out there. I may bring a bungee for when we are sitting outside though,they don't take up any room.

We just upgraded to a balcony cabin on the Pride with my 2 children, 2 and 4 now I'm worried do all the balcony doors have child locks?

Ah, the CHOGs blog... :) I have been on numerous cruises and watch this all the time... I do wish they would police, not a hard thing to do. It is not meant for the people who come and use the chairs. But I have witnessed people coming and plopping their stuff down and disappearing from the area for well over 90 minutes. If you are to be gone for a few minutes, sure, not a problem. But please stop from monopolizing the chairs if you are not going to use them in the immediate time frame.

 

And for the people who need to store stuff... really, is your cabin that far away that you can't go to it and return in say, 15 minutes??? I didn't realize the ships were that big.

Yes the cabbie is pretty far away to store your towel,coverup,sunglasses,sandals. I'm not saying you need 4 chairs for 4 people but cubbies would help the chair storage problem.

Edited to add: I always try when I use a chair to hold my things when I swim to find one that is out of the way and never levee things there for hours usually only 1/2hr while we swim.

Maybe you could send one or two people in a cab with all the luggage and then everyone else is free to walk without dealing with dragging bags around.

I live between the Boston and Portland ports. Late September early October is my favorite time of year here. It can get cold especially at night but typically it's warm enough for just a sweater during the day. Late October is less predictable and we have had over a foot of snow a few days before Halloween.

How far is the drive? You could rent a car for one way so you would still be able to fly home.

Since I live in a house with a spouse using walking aids, I can answer this, but you might not like the answer. Being handicapped is unfortunate, but does not mean one should get special treatment. Plus, most of the special treatment is only perceived as special. Example. If you do arrive at the port early, you will get on early. However, you still need to walk from your seat up the ramp, and on the ship. Going in front of the line, does not change this process. It also does not help the process. The walk is still the same. So jumping to the front of the line, does not change the process. It also does not make it easier. Once on the ship, you still need to walk the ship. What happens then? Same issue happens at a mall. I always find it amusing how some complain of the lack of handicap parking spaces, but yet, are going to a mall where they are walking around. The space offers very little help for anyone that walks. Same thing at Disney. Handicap spaces at the beginning of each roll, but yet you are going to Disney and will be out all day. There is no entitlement for being handicap, especially, when there is no real benefit achieved.

 

 

You will have access to elevators etc if needed. However line jumping is not on the list. Sorry

I had a friend growing up who's father was wheelchair bound the handicap spaces don't only get you closer to the entrance they give more space between you and the vehicle next to you. The complaint of not enough handicap spaces could be fixed by putting additional spaces much further from the entrance to keep other cars from parking too close.

But only if your ship still has the old menus. The new menus don't have the bitter n Blanc, Creme brûlée, grand mariner soufflé, etc.:(

I don't have a favorite Carnival that I can remember specifically.

My favorite restaurant dessert is Olive garden's black tie mousse cake.

My research shows,(I can't say for sure because we haven't traveled her yet) that there is also a coffee and sweets shop I'm picturing Starbucks that is extra charge.

Kangaand2roos... are you sailing with your kids? If at all possible, could you get a few pictures of the Camp Carnival activities for me (ages 2-5)? I've been trying to locate some more up-to-date ones but haven't really had any luck. I'd like to give my kids an idea of some of the things they can look forward to doing. :D THANK YOU!!! A C-pap is a device used for sleep apnea,not sure if it has any other uses.

 

I'm not so much worried about the port or the ship sailing. I'm a little worried about getting TO the port if it's really bad. MD isn't especially used to very large snows, and PA has been known to close roads to all but emergency vehicles...

As it gets closer if the weather forecast is still predicting heavy snow you could reserve a room at one of the park and cruise hotels, the price shouldn't be too much more then just parking at the port and you wouldn't have to worry about the drive as much because you would have a whole extra day to arrive.

I had the same problem I had to log out completely and then it let me log back in. No computer reboot needed.
