  1. Its been a couple years since I've cruised with NCL, so I'm a bit rusty on the latest rules.  As a Platinum tier benefit we each get a voucher for dinner for two in Cagney's or Le Bistro with a bottle of wine (per stateroom), and a voucher for dinner for two in Moderno (or Los Lobos or Q) or La Cucina (per stateroom).  I'm confused by the "per stateroom" qualification.  If both people traveling in the stateroom are platinum rated does this mean that we only get to use one person's dinner vouchers (2 dinners total) instead of using vouchers from each person (ideally 4 dinners total)?

I was checking the website recently for my upcoming cruise and it says for 2-20 people charge is $59pp including transportation. Is this incorrect or were you travelling as a single?

I am traveling solo.  so maybe they jack up the price figuring that they can't split the transportation cost between multiple people.  should I ask if I could just pay for the beach pass and plan to get my own transportation there and back?  Does the set taxi rate work for beach resorts that far down?  Are there taxi's there readily available to take back?

Maybe I should look more into Blue Kay going as a single.  Can I just show up and pay as I go?  Or do they offer an AI option?  Has anyone had more luck with their website than I?

  3. I will be in Costa Maya on 2/15/19 on the Cayamo cruise.  I've visited all the ruin options on previous cruises, so this time I was just planning to chill at a nice beach for the day.  I was going to check out Maya Chan but they are already fully booked for the day.  Almaplena looks beautiful and great reviews so I reach out to them and got a quote back of $85 for the day ($45 day pass + $40 transportation).  Is it just me or is this really expensive?  Is this the recent cost that others are paying?  Is it worth it?

Blue Kay sounds interesting as well, but I can't figure out the website (from Spanish to English) and how to review prices and menu options.  Can I just show up and pay in person?

  4. I just got a quote from Almaplena for $85 ($45 beach pass + $40 transportation) for 2/15/19.  Is this in line with quotes that others have recently gotten?  Seems rather high.

Maya Chan was already fully booked for the day I will be in port.  And I can't seem to figure out the Blue Kay website (can't find the option to change to English and not seeing the beach pass option).

  5. We had a writer tour the ship this weekend, as well as a photographer. We'll have a full photo album next week. For now, check out our First Impressions, link below. The line also announced that it would be expanding into Asia with cruises on the Mekong. It must be selling (and I have to admit, the excursions sound really cool!)

Will the photo album have cabin pictures? Of all the (3) categories?

I've been thinking of branching out to River cruises for awhile, and I'm in the age group, so this line has definitely sparked my interest. Loved the First Impressions post.

  6. I've only sailed on RCI once before, and I forget what I did the first time. Does RCI allow you to bring on board sealed bottled water bottles and sodas upon embarkation or from ports? NCL just recently changed their rules to not allow carry-ons, so I wanted to verify where RCI stands with this.

I will be sailing on a 10 day Rhapsody cruise from Venice in October, and it would be my preference to bring on a handful of water and soda choices with me (I won't have a beverage package).

  7. Sounds like you have a plan which will work for you. However taking the bus from Pile to the cable car does not work. You can walk from the Ploce gate, which is our far eastern entrance, to the cable car. It is not a long and difficult stroll. If the Dubrovnik pass includes the wall, then of course Fort Lovrijenac is included. Enjoy your limited time here.

Thanks for the feedback. Is there a bus route that goes from the port area to the cable car instead?

  8. A couple DIY logistic questions.

I'm planning to do Dubrovnik on my own; our ship is docked on Wed 10/19 from 1pm to 8pm. I'm thinking of using the local bus routes to and from Port Gruz, walking the City Walls, going up the cable car, and exploring the Old Town. I might order online the Dubrovnik Pass (154Kn) which would basically pay for itself just with the City Wall entrance fee and a couple bus rides.

    Does this route sound ok?

    - Bus from Port to Pile stop. Visit Fort St. Lawrence. I know that the Fort is included with the regular City wall fee, but is it included if you have the Dubrovnik Pass?

    - Bus from Pile to Cable Car. What bus number for this route?

    - Round trip Cable Car

    - Enter City walls at Ploce Gate and walk all the way around.

    - Enter old town and explore various sites to make way back to Pile Gate.

    - Bus from Pile back to Port

    I appreciate the feedback, thanks.

  9. I'm wondering if anyone can give me some information about the shuttle boat to various beaches in Mykonos that I've read about.

Where is the boat located at?

    How much does it cost?

Which beaches does it go to?

Is there a schedule for return trips?

  10. Have all the dailies and intend to scan the first 2 pages of each one and it them on Google Drive with a link on here - is that OK ? [emoji41]

That would be great! Could you also include the Reflection Today page (timeline of activities) and the back page with the daily food/drink recommendations? It would be much appreciated.

  11. can't wait for more. Especially postings of the dailies.

Were you still going to send copies of the dailies to all those who posted their email addresses on the other thread? I will on the Epic at the end of March, and would love to be able to do some head start night time planning by viewing the dailies ahead of time.

  12. Hi,

Came across this after reading your post - I am not affiliated with this site but the pictures are amazing :) YUM!

    Enjoy....

Thanks. I've seen those pictures before of the more standard fare items. What I'm hoping someone has are pictures of the nightly "special" meals from O'Sheenans. I've read that they have Prime Rib, Fried Chicken & Pork Ribs. Like MDR dinner dishes. Just hoping they look as delicious as they sound.
