    What are "package regulations"?

    This is from Gov.uk....

Refunds in the event of termination

14.—(1) The provisions of this regulation are implied as a term in every package travel contract.

    (2) Following a termination under regulation 12(2), the organiser must reimburse any payments made by or on behalf of the traveller, having deducted any termination fee.

    (3) Any—

(a)reimbursement required under paragraph (2), or

    (b)refund required pursuant to—

    (i)regulation 12(8), or

    (ii)a termination under regulation 13(3),

must be made to the traveller without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days after the package travel contract is terminated.

Abta (Association of British Travel Agents ) applied to the Government to extend the period of 14 days but it has not be extended.

  2. We usually book the whole package with Regent (flights, transfers etc) and they would indeed refund back to us.

However  this TA takes the Regent cruise then adds on the flights and transfers. They are not paying us until the suppliers pay them, which is against the package regulations.

Even when they say Regent have refunded them, they say they are still waiting for the suppliers to pay them!

  3. Thank you Susie

we are still waiting our refund from our TA ...over 90 days.

I am informed that Regent has processed the refund but our TA who offered an Abta Credit note that if not paid by July I would be! I refused this credit note .

By law refunds should be made within 14 days.

In April I applied to my Credit Card ....today I am advised that they’ve are looking into it...

It has been a long hard battle with no refund yet...
I will not use this TA again.

    Hello

i believe  we are using the same Agent in Chorley. We are having the same difficulty getting our refund from them although I have it from the cruise company (Regent) that my refund is processed.
Now the agent is saying that they have to wait for the other suppliers and they haven’t yet received the refund.

It is now over 90 days!

Whilst we are pleased that people are getting their money back, we would have expected that cruises cancelled by Oceania would be paid back before those cancelled by passengers and that cruises with an earlier leaving date would be refunded first. We are 98 days from a cruise which was cancelled by Oceania and should've left on April 14th. We are in the UK though and that seems to make a big difference. Our TA keeps promising us the money should be here soon but we are losing patience, we paid in full in October 2019 which means that they have had our money for 8 months +, earning interest from it and we have had nothing from them. On our roll call, people have been posting when they have been refunded quickly and without exception they have been from the US.

  6. With Covid 19 having stopped people taking cruises this year we are possibly looking at cruises for 2021.

However there is a problem with this.

My annual travel insurance is due shortly but like many insurers they have removed the cover for Covid 19.

We have a cruise booked for April 2021(having transferred the deposit from an August cruise). So we will not now be covered for anything related to Covid 19......

Since this has been the cause of all cancellations this year what would you do?

  7. Our cruise was cancelled in March. On the 21st March the following was in reply to my enquiry to Regent UK.

We have cancelled your booking and  will process the refund to your Travel Agent  shortly .

    no mention of 90 days!

the following is in their reply to my email on the 15th May

I believe they are now beginning to process April refunds this week and this is being done on a cruise by cruise basis and in date order.

Looking at the spreadsheet I don’t see evidence of this

  8. My TA has only advised that when I get my refund I will be advised about my fcc.

Who knows when that will be. This is the recent info I received from Regent UK.....

Our accounting team is a tri-branded one and are processing refunds for the three brands. Regent are currently running about 45% refund requests, but our sister brands are somewhat higher. I believe they are now beginning to process April refunds this week and this is being done on a cruise by cruise basis and in date order.  We are trying our best to expedite the process.

I’m still waiting confirmation documents for a cruise booked on Marina, Oceania next April. The booking was made over a month ago....

  9. When my March Cruise was cancelled I was offered a refund and a 25% fcc. I immediately booked the following cruise which was subsequently cancelled mid March. Because full payment was required I had to pay. The fcc was put against the cruise but I had to pay the balance although Regent were already holding my money. I was told that this was because I was using a different TA.
At that  time refunds were being processed in a couple of weeks.

    I’m still waiting a refund.

my fcc was to be used in 2020!!

  10. Hello MKLions we are from the UK

We had a cruise booked on Marina in August this year and have moved the deposit to a cruise on Marina in April next year. Oceania applied the penalty (as per T & C) £200pp. However this was converted to a fcc. We didn’t actually lose the deposit. The fcc could not be used for the transfer.

We also had a cancelled cruise on Regent (actually two). The first was fully refunded with a fcc which we immediately used for an April cruise. However although this was cancelled mid March we cannot get our TA to refund!

Regent are claiming  upto 90 days and our TA have offered an Abta credit note as security until July 31st! that’s almost 5 months. Unacceptable and against our UK law. (section 75 Package Regulations ) it should be paid in 14 days.

I would not advise paying the balance.

  11. I had my 16th March cruise cancelled and was offered a full refund and a 25% future cruise credit. I immediately booked the 16th April cruise (at the time it looked ok!)
I have been refunded for the first cruise which comprised of credit card payments (these are back on the card) and a cheque payment which our TA returned to us.

By the way I had to pay in full for the 2nd booking, less the fcc....

I’m using another TA for the 2nd booking and they would insist that Regent cancelled the cruise, even though we could have cancelled on a significant change, Government advice  being over 70!  We would be covered under the ABTA/Atol Package Regulations.  I persisted and am now waiting to see what I am refunded.....

  12. I’ve already had a refund from a cancelled cruise Voyager 16th March). I used the fcc to book the 16th April Voyager cruise who’s itinerary has been greatly changed with no notification from my TA or Regent. I get my information  here . Thank you.

i would add that in booking my second cruise I had to pay in full because I used a different TA.
If this cruise is cancelled (which looks likely) I will have over £25,000 on my credit card which I have to pay 2.99% as a cash withdrawal!!

  13. We were on the March 16th cruise which was cancelled, booked over 12 months ago.

We were offered a refund and a fcc which we put to this cruise as there is very little left to choose from in 2020 (terms of the offer) . A lot of the cruises were waitlisted. We also have a higher, non refundable deposit here in the UK. I believe this makes a difference to the current bookings.

Since  booking this second cruise prices have dropped due to cancellation!

Changing Italy to Turkey was ok for us but more Greek ports ....??

  14. We were on the 23rd March cruise which has now been cancelled.

Kitekat check with your TA I think you’ll find that you get a full refund and a 25% fcc

here is what our letter via our agent said...
Regent Seven Seas Cruises will provide a full refund of your paid fare per person as well as a Future Cruise Credit of 25% of your paid cruise-only fare per person. This credit can be used toward any Regent Seven Seas Cruises voyage that sails in 2020. Please advise our Reservations team or your Travel Advisor that there is a credit in your name when you reserve your next Regent voyage.

sadly it’s very difficult finding a replacement at such short notice .

  15. I’m about to book a cruise on Voyager and have previously enjoyed forward staterooms although not further than 708. I know there is an overhang on the forward cabins .......does anyone know if 706 is affected?

otherwise the other available staterooms are 645, 641 or 656? Is there vibration in any of these? Or any noise from deck 5?

    thank you.

  16. Thanks to all of you for your feedback and suggestions. We finally made the decision to book the Rio-Barcelona cruise. My husband, still insists, that he will be fine with the number of cruising days. We have our air (paid deviation) and have only one transfer in Miami. Seems that with one of the largest cities in the country, there are no direct flights to Rio. We have Business class, so I guess we will be fine--just hope that we can get to the airport in February, as you never know with weather. Looking forward to meeting all of you who are taking this cruise. Our TA is taking care of getting Visas for us.

Glad you sorted your flight. See you onboard.

We were on Voyager this year Bangkok to Abu Dhabi and wondered if we would enjoy so many sea days.....it was wonderful.
