I think I should mention that 7440, 7442, and 7444 are all rear facing extended balconies (they are deeper than a normal side facing balcony). Here is a picture of have of the Conquest ...QUOTE]
Thank You for posting. We have 7442 for October 2017 on the Conquest
We did have the same room location on the Dream. Love the aft balcony but couldnt justify the expense for the corner aft with the "kitty corner" bed. The board won't let me upload my photos

Oh no. No bad experiences. I am a big fan of Johnny's PoBoys.

Depending on how much later you are looking in the year, you may get her after dry dock. She goes in for dry dock 9/30 and finishes 10/13.
And we board 10/14/2017 which Beats the **** snowstorm outside my window right now

The Journey cruise was great. DH and I really enjoyed it. San Juan was a nightmare! We did the B2B. Guest Services advised us to go through Customs and go into San Juan instead of sitting around the terminal and waiting for the ship to clear. We did that and it was a mistake. When we went to get back on we said we had the In Transit Guest cards. We were sent into a line and the wait began! Someone from Carnival finally came and added four people to move it faster (only two to start). When he told two to put the paddles down and take from the VIFP line, one said no and walked away with the other one. The Carnival guy brought us to a young man who couldn't get into the computer and requested help. He wanted the health form and credit card form which we had filled out onboard. The guy from Carnival finally told him just to go get our Sign & Sail cards and take the photo. He had a hard time finding the cards. He took the photo and we went find some space to stand and wait to get thought security. That was a mess in itself. When we got downstairs, we found out the photo needed to be taken again because it didn't appear. Over two hours to get back on board! What a way to start the second cruise! They were a lot of frustrated people trying to get on board. John said they don't usually have that many Platinum and Diamond member getting on. Carnival doesn't keep track and make adjustments?
Did the B2B also. Must have had the travel Gods with us. We got off the ship about 9am and came back at 4:30 pm. We had heard from other sail-ers that it got crazy; especially those coming on board. Yeah,,,it was Hot that Sunday in San Juan. There were 4 ships in San Juan that Sunday also. The trolley system was overwhelmed. One van taxi pulled up to a trolley stop we were at...said $3 apiece and Ill drive you all to the Forts. No Problem !!!.. Still a great port city

We were on the back to back for 21 days just before you. Also from New Hampshire. As writing this the sun is going down. Would rather be at Sea Looking forward to more of your review

We are doing the Dream in October. Please keep posting ...:) enjoying.

Just a thought. You did not say when you were thinking of sailing or itinerary. Would they be overwhelmed if you all picked a "Spring Break" cruise or are they Young-un's too at heart. Being in your parents age group...for their first cruise I sincerely hope you have a memorable family experience.

thanks! we were in 7446, we liked the room, and the location was great. We had a couch, some of the aft balconies just have a chair instead of the couch.
In 6 mo. we will be on the Dream in 7456. Supposed to have a couch with the 2 beds rolled to one. Did you check out the "neighbors" rooms?

Nice review Dela.
We also did the So. Caribbean 6 years ago on the Victory. Love Old San Juan.
Did you notice any "changes" within the island stops that seemed significant to you since your previous Victory sailing

The Regular Balconies are not private as people from the lanai can look up at you. It also blocks your view looking down to the water.
Thank You so much for posting this. We were able to make the switch to an Aft balcony on Deck 7 for $50 per person

Below are a few links of some of the types of watches i am looking for. I was hoping that those who are watch fans as myself, and have been cruising recently, could give me a hand regarding where I may want to shop. Also curious if there are any "Caribbean specific" watch models I'm general, I am interested in Tag Heuer Aquaracer Quartz units, or possibly Oris TT1 Divers or the Oris Equis models. Here are a few examples of watches that I would be interested in looking at. I appreciate any feedback.

I am so looking forward to this trip. I have recently survived beating cancer, and this trip with my wife and son will be very special for me.
First off- let me congratulate you on your great Medical news. Certainly a reason to Celebrate !
Now I'm not versed in watches; but Diamonds and Honesty. I found my blue and white diamonds Man's ring at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147346-d2354226-Reviews-Caribbean_Gems-St_Maarten_St_Martin.html

You mentioned Caribbean Specific above.
If you Contact Manu in advance of your trip, I'm sure he can work with you and advise.

Staying the night never really occurred to us. I was thinking about flying in in the morning and going right to the ship. It says it departs at 4pm, is it not advisable to do that?
Highly advisable to fly in minimally the day before. Experienced cruisers swear by this. Having personally made embarkation with 15 minutes to spare by flying in the same day--- too stressful.
Tampa vs. NOLA -> NOLA wins ! The city is called the Big Easy for a reason. Do spend some time there pre-or- post cruise.

8 of us from the Norwegian Dawn also did a six hour round the island and beach stop with Natasja. She has a wonderful personality and really was a lot of fun. We saw her Mom too at one of the beach stops.
We suggest having aqua shoes for the beach. Not smoothe sand like in Magen's Bay but slightly rocky

Thanks to the both of you for threading this "live". We did the Golden in April 2013. Your story is bringing back warm memories-which are helpful as I look out the window at 12" of snow here in New Hampshire. Happy sailing

Booked recently for the Norwegian Dawn through one of the larger online Travel Agency's. The OTA has a "contract" with Travel Guard. The coverage has 100% cancellation refund . Last year we went through InsureMyTrip.com Many cruisers use them as well. Just a vote for Independent Insurance-although we have never had to use it.
