  1. On my last 10 or so cruises I have only eaten in the speciality restaurants.  Before they were part of free at sea promotions I would buy a 6 or 7 night dining package.  Our cruises are so much more enjoyable.  I like the cooked to order food, the private tables, the quieter atmosphere.  I don't like the "show" stuff in main dining or the mass cooked orders.  We cruise every February but this is our first time since Covid (we go in 2 weeks).

  2. I'm new to these boards, and in the same boat (no pun intended) as you. I slimmed all the way down to my idea weight but then put it back on (even more than you did) after a couple of years, in large part due to the fact that I developed osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia and working out was painful and I didn't have the energy. But I'm trying to work through the pain, force myself to have the energy I took for granted before by remembering my goal and putting inspirational pictures on the wall (perfectly sculpted WWE superstars!). I started about 2 weeks ago and have exercised every single day, but due to my health issues sometimes I have trouble keeping up. I'm using 2 streaming exercise services: Beachbody and Daily Burn and using a Max Trainer. I LOVE these programs and this machine (highly recommend all three!), but I've come to the realization I need to ramp it up to twice a day instead of once because I don't have the stamina to go more than 20-30 minutes and usually have to use the modifier, so I'm not seeing the results fast enough to meet my goal before the cruise. I'm also dieting, including mostly sushi, yogurt, and other low calorie stuff. I'm tired of wearing shorts and t-shirts to the beach! Hopefully if I change my plan from "work out every day" to "work out an hour a day in two to three installments" I can do it!

Sounds like you are doing great. I am not much of a workout person. I can never commit. I leave for work around 645 am so there isn't time in the morning and get home around 4pm most nights...sometimes later if I have meetings. I don't like organized exercise. I love to walk, golf, hike, kayak, or basically any outdoor activity. Can't wait for longer days and clear streets (expecting 16" more of snow today).

I told my husband we need to be more active. Once I lose the rest of the weight, next goal is to get more physically active

  3. Started dieting in August from a really bad place. Down 55 lbs and hoping to lose another 15 by my cruise on April 1st.

I eat healthy, strength train 4 times a week, twice with a trainer and have started training for my first ever 5k which is soon after my cruise return.

I won't be ready for a bikini but a nice tankini will work and I can actually fit in a water slide. So excited!

I use myfitnesspal too! I've lost 41 lbs in a year, but gained 12 back over summer because I quit everything. I've managed to lose those 12 also! I cruise the end of May and would like to be down another 20. Anything in the loss department I'll take.

Good work and can't wait to look better on the beach

  4. I cruise May 21 and I have lost about 34 pounds since Sept. The past 2 months have just been fluctuating the same 4 pounds. Now that holidays are over, I'm shooting for another 36 before the cruise.

    Welcome aboard!!!

I'm more of a lurker but, figured I'd chime in.

I had started last May to lose weight for our upcoming March 2017 cruise. I had lost some weight by counting calories. Well, I stopped counting calories and the weight crept back on - after Christmas I was within a pound or two of my starting weight. So, back at it.

I'm down a total of 5 lbs. from my starting weight last May. I would like to be down another 10 but, with 45 days to cruising (who's counting?) that might be pushing it a little.

I will be happy if I just continue to go down no matter how much and not up. I really just want my summer clothes that fit so well last summer to fit me on the cruise (amazing what 10 lbs can do to the fit of clothing).

I do know that regardless of my weight I will have a great time.

    WElcome aboard!!!

Update...so 5 full weeks in and down 19 pounds!!!! 9 more weeks until my cruise hoping to lose between 20-25 before then. I just did a last minute 4 day cruise last week and lost 4 pounds that week while cruising...walked 8 miles every morning...had a protein bar for breakfast, salad with chicken for lunch and then meat and veggies and salad for dinner with a ton of water and no alcohol (I was with my mom and sister who don't drink)!

  5. Wow you can do it again!! I know it's a great accomplishment.

I'm down 4 pounds and am fighting off the salty potato chips daily. But I will look great in my beach wear and cruise wear.

Well done for keeping the weight for 5 years and on the plus side you have not put all back on. Wow 6lbs off, that a great start, you must be pleased with that.

Thanks ladies and yes, I am very happy that I managed to still keep 25 pounds off. I too am very excited about thinking how my vacation photos will look and that is what keeps me going daily. I am going to Vegas for work March 1-5, I plan to stay in ketosis (I am doing low carb), but will allow myself a little higher calorie count and a few drinks.

  6. I'm so happy to have found this sight. Want to drop weight for our upcoming cruise. Have lost 90 pounds and need to drop another 30. Thinking about all the food options on the ship and oh boy......not easy to eat yogurt and fruit with those croissants. [emoji6]

I lost 86 pounds in 2015, and have gained back about 15 this year. I'd like to lose 30 before my cruise at the end of November.

I need to start swimming again and jogging. Had a horrible upper respiratory infection that turned into bronchitis this fall and winter, so haven't been exercising at all for months.

Great job ladies! I lost 75 in 2010 and kept it off until August of 2015. I gained 46 in the last 1.5 years with an extreme amount of stress I ate and drank way too much. I started January 2nd. I hope to lose 30 pounds by my cruise April 17th!

  7. Congrats for what you did accomplish, that's great!

I just started my work out today -- Cruising at the end of May, so almost the same time frame as you!

My goal is 20lbs - I tried to make a bet with my bf to wear one of those European swim shorts if I made my goal but he wasn't willing to make the deal. I can only assume that's because he's confident I can do it! LOL

yes, my hubby would not be caught dead in those trunks.

Well here's to good luck for both of us

  8. Hello all. I lost 75 pounds from September of 2010 to February of 2011. I kept it off until August of 2015. I have put 46 of those pounds back on in the last 1.5 years...totally bummed after maintaining over 4 years.

I started January 2nd. I am cruising on April 17th. I am hoping to take off at least 30 of those pounds by then. I would love some company along the way. anyone else in that time frame?

  9. We loved the Reflection last year and can't wait for our cruise in 2 days. We did the 5 night dining package at specialty package. We ate in MDR once on lobster night and it was delicious.

I hate Main dining on all cruises (because I hate the atmosphere, hussle bussle and singing and dancing). We starting cruising NCL about 7 years ago for their restaurant selection and then changed to celebrity 3 years ago when we realized they had it too.

The small price to pay for the week is so worth it to have an amazing vacation (5 night package was $130 each for week (2 Tuscan, 1Qsine, 1Lawn club, 1 murano)

  10. I am 45 and my husband is 49 this will be our third February in a row cruising on Celebrity (second year in a row on the Reflection...we leave Saturday).

We alway get the drink package as part of our cruise and then we upgrade to premium. We love martinis and wine and craft beer so having the premium just feels more relaxing (it is about $80 for week upgrade per person).

Every night on the cruise there was dancing until midnight or later. It started early in main area, then in martini bar and then other places (it moves). It gets quite wild and crowded. Not sure about your cruise as I think the Caribbean in February brings people out of cabin fever.

We always buy a dining package also. We love the cooked to order meals of the specialty restaurants and the more personalized service and private seating. We buy the 5 dinner package (2 Tuscan, 1 Qsine, 1 Lawn Club, 1 Murano...can't name our favorite love them all).

We are well traveled (we just returned from Vegas a month ago, we head to Nashville next month, Vegas again in April, Paris/Barcelona for 3 weeks this summer). In between we hit up Foxwoods or other driving range destinations.

No regrets and have a ball.

BTW: Rooms (1st year we did Aqua, last year regular balcony, and this year Concierge balcony)....we picked them based on the best offers available (this year we got tips, drinks, $300 onboard credit for CB when we book in Nov 2014 for $1150 each).

  11. We thought about the dining $29 a day package, but you can only book on board and it is touch and go. We wanted it booked before we left and it is a good discount to book ahead.

So we are eating dinner 2 nights in main dining and we are trying to figure which two nights because as we board we will book all other dining.

  12. I usually avoid the spas on cruises because the constantly try to sell you product and I am not interested, but hubby and I are going to do a spa day while the ship is in port in Jamaica in 2 weeks.

Just wondering if anyone is on the Reflection or just off and can tell what what kind of special deals/packages are offered while in port (I know the menu has different prices for port days), but I remember the dailies have specials on top of that from last year.

    Thanks

  13. In two weeks we will be on our 3rd Celebrity Cruise. Our first was Aqua and we got a great price and we loved loved loved Blu (and the shower and footstools on balcony were nice).

Last year we did a regular balcony room because it was almost $500 cheaper per person. We used the money we saved and bought the dining package which we loved even more than Blu

This year we are in Concierge, but only because of what was mentioned above (we booked in Nov 2014) and we got all three (drink package, $300 obc, and tips included) and it was pretty cheap (maybe $1100 each base (before taxes, fees, and insurance). We upgraded to the premium drink package and bought the dining package and it feels like a luxury cruise for a good price.

  14. Upgrading to premium is about $75 per person for the week...money well spent...you never worry about whether anything is included...we have never been denied anything we ordered. Also, with premium if you ordered something higher and they did charge they only charge the difference (so if $16 drink you would pay $3) with the classic you would pay the full $16.

We never regret paying the fee...taking away the stress about whether something is covered or not is worth the $150 (both of us) for the week.

  15. I have only cruised celebrity with a drink package. I take it as a perk when I book and then I upgrade to the premium. When we cruise we do drink (too much). We usually have a "fluffy" drink or two during the day. We have a pre and post martini to dinner and then watch shows or in the casino we have a few drinks. At home we drink nothing except when we go out to dinner or have friends over.

I love not having to sign slips.

When we cruised with other lines we always signed for drinks...I think it totaled about 700-800 for both of us for the week.

  16. This is not because we are cheap...we want to get a good walk in to start our day. On vacation we like to log 20K step per day. We have been to GC several times and been to seven mile beach but we are having trouble remembering if the walk to the beach area is safe or not.

  17. We did not care for this tour. We had done the cooking tour 2 or 3 times on previous cruises and loved it (about 15 people total) in Cozumel.

This was a mad house...well over 100 people and inside...too crowded and too impersonal...couldn't wait for it to be over.

Also said you could use resort pool...not very welcoming, wouldn't even let us have a towel.
