  1. YOU should have said the Crown Princess instead of slamming a whole cruiseline. You have cruised for many years to know the cruise problems.

I have cruised on a four day and on a 3 day and on a 2 day cruise. Back to Back. Many cruisers pack their tiny cabins with lots of cruisers and they leave

a super mess for the cabin stewards to clean up the mess in time for the next cruise.

The Crown is a super large ship and if some people get sick with noro virus then it can become a serious problem.

Recently, when I cruised I saw a teenager on the elevator floor rubbing his body in a circle on the dirty floor. Kids don't realize how they are picking up germs by touching everything and not washing their hands when eating.

Crown Princess and Carnival ships located in L.A. ports are getting filled with lots of large families.

The rates are super cheap or free to lots of cruisers so they jam pack their cabins with all of their friends and kids I have noticed.

I do enjoy the 4 night cruises over the 3 or 2 day cruises.

Is it really fair to slam all Princess ships?

  2. I get to meet lots of people and I get to see them on different ships. LOL.

There are some SINGLE cruising groups but you have to find them because I am not allowed to advertise the groups here on this website.

Carnival presently sold me single supplement cruises. I love to cruise on the west coast just because I love just being on the ocean. Can you believe paying only $100. plus taxes for a 4 day cruise? I booked 4 cruises back to back. It was a major sale for this month.

Keep in the habit of being your own travel agent and then book yur cruise through the cruiseline or a travel agency. You have to do your own research.

When you see a great deal BOOK IT. The rates go up if you wait because lots of people start booking and so they raise the rates.

I have total fun by myself because I don't feel alone on the ships. I live alone at home so cruising by myself it is the same as being home except I am on a ship with lots of fun people.

Some of the cruise workers fall in like with me because they like to hear the stories I tell them about the news. They move to other ships so I sometimes get to see them again.

When people ask you if you are cruising alone just say that you are cruising with a group of cruise critics. Always join a Carnival Roll Call because we always meet on the ship at a MEET & GREET. We get to know eachother as time passes and we cruise over and over on different ships and cruise lines.

On the Custom form they ask what family MEMBER is cruising with you. I just write that I am cruising with "FRIENDS". They never ask me who they are.

If they ever did ask I will just say I have my own transportation that will be picking me up. Most important is to be friendly to the officer. THEY just want to hear your voice because they can tell if you are an American. Since I am an American with an accent since I speak 6 languages.

I have a story to tell you. A friend of mine is cruising on the Crown Princess by herself and I asked her to give a message to a crew worker that I know.

We all get to make friends with some of the crew workers.

  3. Yes, it is true that the NOROVIRUS can be caught in a hospital, a large gathering of people, and other public places. BUT.... KNOWING that the
Crown Ship CAN PUT ME AT RISK of getting ill with the NOROVIRUS truly scares me because first of all I am cruising to have fun and I have paid $1,000.00 TO HAVE FUN ON THE SHIP.

I will try to reschedule my cruise on the Crown. I can cruise on any future date. I am a senior with a weak immunity system and I would get really ill with the virus if I have the bad luck of catching the virus.

YES, MY NICK-NAME IS NERVOUS NELLY. I have a right to be nervous because out of 3,000 passengers I can be the chosen one to get ill.
Yes, I am being negative but I have a right to try to keep myself healthy.
I am going to call Princess about changing to another Princess ship.

Carnival allows people to reschedule a cruise but I do have to pay an administrative fee. I am willing to pay the extra money to change to a future date on the Crown Princess.
  4. The Golden Princess is attracting people because the rates are lower than Carnival cruise ships that charge a lot more. I am a VIP on Carnival but Princess gives me more stuff as an ELITE VIP.

Yes, Princess is attracting first timers to their cruise line in Los Angeles.

I notice how tacky some of the new cruisers who walk around eating at the International Café eating their desserts standing around and then get another snack.

It is a fact that Princess has attracted Carnival cruisers with their low rates.

Princess is trying to be a fun ship like Carnival I have noticed. Just watch and see when you cruise on Princess out of L.A.

Princess has had the reputation of being a nice quiet ship but this is the year 2014 and times have changed in L.A. So all you Princess lovers be prepared for all the noise of music playing real loud and people running around the ship talking real loud. They make as much noise as the Mother Ship.

  5. I am a single senior lady and I cruise solo and what I do is tell the cabin steward not to clean my cabin everyday because I think that the cabin stewards carry germs from cabin to cabin. I may be wrong in my thinking but that is what I do when I cruise. I tell them when my cabin needs to be cleaned up. But what I do is to store all of my touchable things into drawers or store them in plastic bags and store them in my closet space. That way they only have to clean the surface of the furniture and things.

You are supposed to get a napkin to cover the serving spoons at the buffet. I hardly eat at the buffet. I like to be served.

I have to take the elevators but if they get too crowded I wait for another elevator. I cover my face if too many people get on the elevator all of a sudden. I face the walls too. I am afraid of falling going down the stairs because I have partial vision and depth perception problems.

I never use the swimming pool or Jacuzzi.

I need to have air circulating in my cabin so I think the air-conditioner sometimes gets me ill. I take my meds to feel better right away.

I do carry antibiotics and all my meds.

I do come home tired and feel a chest congestion for about a week after a cruise and I think that is because of the air conditioning in my cabin is kept high because it makes me feel good to breath while I sleep. I do wear a night cap, socks, and a robe to sleep at night to keep me warm.

I have cruised more than 75 times in my life-time and have never gotten ill on a cruise ship. I think it is because I have followed all of the ideas that everybody has mentioned here. Yes, I wash my hands every chance I get. When I visit a PORT...and get back to the ship I take off my clothes and store it in the plastic bag for dirty clothes and I take a shower right away. I NEVER EAT IN A FOREIGN PORT. Lucy

  6. Don't waste your time seeing the city. The best part about La Paz is their beaches located on the east side of La Paz. They have beautiful clean clear ocean beaches. My favorite one is called Turkey beach which has a spanish name.

We used to ask the taxi driver to wait for us for a set price.

there is another beach that has great food and you can swim in the shallow ocean. nobody swims at the beach in the city area because it is poluted.

I don't think Princess knows about the hidden beaches. Those beaches are not shown on the Princess map that they will give you. lol. I have cruised on Princess to La Paz and Loreto. You must rent a boat to take you to see the beautiful clean clear ocean and see beautiful fish and birds, etc.

I used to fly to La Paz and go swimming at the hidden beaches. I used to have fun swimming in their safe ocean that is more like a cove lagoon. It was fun to swim and see the baby string rays, blow fish, and other small fish who were not afraid to swim with people around them. I have fond memories.

Any taxi driver will take you go a beach to go swimming. Don't let them talk you in to taking you to Cabo because it is 4 hours round trip. A waste of time.

  7. Princess made that balcony offer to several persons because they have some balconies available. Once they fill them up the offer will be gone.

I was also offered an upgrade to a balcony but my cruise is only a 3 day cruise so I am happy on the Plaza deck. If I was on a 7 day cruise I would take it. I love the Plaza deck.

I sometimes will get offers for an upgrade but I have it set up that I don't want an upgrade in the same catagory. I don't consider those upgrades. Never say yes to that type of upgrade because they will put you in a location you don't want so it is not an upgrade for you.

I hope you accepted the balcony. But you may lose your OBC. It is fun to have obc money to spend on the ship. Lucy

  8. I cruised SOLO and paid $1,200. for a Studio for Aug. 23rd. Then I paid $923. for the Aug. 30th for the same studio cabin. I was cruising BACK-back.

I found out that lots of singles were able to pay only $763. as a solo rate for a balcony. They were all super happy.

I felt cheated because I had paid full price. I was told by my travel agent that NCL would not give me OBC credit. I felt so bad because I had used a $250. PRE-PAID deposit to NCL on another cruise. I used that deposit for my Aug.23rd cruise. I felt that I lost that money. I decided I would never do that again with any ship.

From now on I plan to pay at the last minute for a NCL cruise. I the ship gets full I can always book another last minute cheapy cruise since I am retired and can cruise anytime.

I totally felt ripped off. I lost $640. That is the price of a 3 day cruise.

  9. I save a lot of money by booking the INSIDERS. When I do get a window for a great rate I end up closing the window curtains at night. I don't want the

sun in my face in the morning.

I also put the t.v. on at night as a night lite.

I always open the door for the extra space feeling during the day when I am in my cabin. Plus, it attracts the cabin steward and I am able to talk to him.

I used to put a large table cotton cloth on the open door so people couldn't see inside. lol. I would use duck tape to tape it.

I used to carry a small battery fan to blow on my face while I was in the cabin during the day. I don't need it anymore.

I sometimes get free window or balconies because I am a VIP on Carnival and Princess.

I think that is the reason or maybe the upgrade faires like me. LucyR.

  10. I once saw a lady with a poodle dog walking around the ship. When we got to a port I saw her without her dog. She left the dog on the ship. She never told me what her medical problem was because she didn't have to tell me. That is what she said to me.

Another time I saw another lady with a small dog on a cruise ship.

Recently I saw a man who had a service dog that was a pit bull dog. He said that kids could touch his dog. I told him that was not a good idea.

I like seeing people with their service dogs.

  11. I was informed on the Sapphire that the handicapped cabins were done first because a lot of the cruisers in those cabins stay in their cabins a lot. LucyR.

  12. The Sapphire has installed new mattresses on all the cabin. They also installed new flat screen t.v.'s. Also new drapes in all of the cabins. They have been painting and cleaning and installing new carpets in some cabins and hallways.

They are getting ready for their relocation to an Asian cruise in April.

The ship is also including new Asian dishes at the buffet.Plus, they have hired new Asian workers.

They have also installed some type of t.v. box so people can see more movies

on their t.v.'s for free. I hope my cabin will have the new t.v. addition to my

cabin when I get on the ship on March 23rd. LucyR.

  13. The BREAD is better at the Horizen Court Buffet. They have some great soft rolls. They also have pretzel style. They only have them at the buffet.

I used to put some in a plastic baggie that I take on my cruises and eat them later in my cabin with butter on them as a late snack. LucyR.

  14. Tell them you are a Captain Circle member and you will get a better rate quoted than listed on their website. That is what I did and I have booked 3 bookings. The Princess travel agents are super nice people and will take their

time with you in answering your questions. They have a special code for the

discount if you book with them.

They have really affordable rates. I am single and they gave me a great deal

    for solo me cruising.

  15. When I was in high school the boys would sing here comes the clowns when they would see girls with lots of make-up on.

I used to wear really red lipstick and I felt I looked like Minny Mouse. My mom never taught me how to do my make-up. I had to learn on my own and I also learned to cut my own hair at the age of 13yrs.old because

every time I went to a hair dresser they would give me a lousy perm or cut my hair really bad news.

Even today I still have to cut my own hair because the last time the gal

cut my hair too short and it was a terrible cut and perm.

Now my hair looks beautiful like BETTY WHITE. I am an old senior now.

I prefer the old style of the 1950's. I even watch movies on how Bettty Davis used to comb and style her hair for the movies. lol. LucyR.

  16. The best thing to do is go to a cosmetic dept. and buy the right color of make-up for your skin color and type of skin, buy some eye make-up, face powder, blush, eye brow pencil, etc. You can buy all of these items at

any dept. store. A sales gal will help you choose what you need.

You make an appointment with one of the ship Spa gals to apply your make-up. Choose the gal that is wearing lots of make-up on her face because she will know how to apply your make-up just right. She will not put it on you extra heavy. She will follow your orders on how much you want on your face.

Now.... here is the reason for taking your own cosmetics. It is not sanitary to use other peoples cosmetics, especially lipstick because it can have a virus on it. Mascara will also have germs that will cause your eyes

    to turn red from germs.-

I think you will look amazing and beautiful if you wear make-up.

I always wear really nice make-up to have my professional photo taken on the ships. I have learned how to put make-up for having my photo taken on the ship.

Handy hint for you other ladies who do know how to put on your make-up. Put lots of blush on the edges of your face because it will make your face look really healthy and nice. I learned this from the photos that have been embellished to look better. The blush looks normal on my face.

  17. Please don't try to walk to town because it is only a road with hardly any walking space or places to stop at. It is safer to just take the shuttle into town. Please stay in the tourist area because there is nothing to see where the people live. They don't like the looky loos.

  18. It is close to all the action on the Atrium Paza deck. Plus, when ever I want a late snack I can just walk to the Coffee Café and get a late night snack without having to take an elevator.

I am booked on P231 on the Sapphire for March. I am super happy that I found that cabin and booked it.

All of those cabins are super quiet. Since you have an insider.... make sure to put your t.v. on channel 44 on mute as a night light and in the morning you get to see the sun and the outside world. It is like having a

    window.

A few weeks ago when I woke up I saw the NCL STAR SHIP taking up the whole screen on my t.v. It was so funny. We were in Puerto Vallarta. lol.

  19. Recently I cruised on the Sapphire Princess and I only sent one bag of clothes to be washed. It cost $20. to be washed and the amount showed up on my account. BUT.... I was not charged for the washed clothes.

I wonder if that is how Princess now presently keeps tabs on how much clothes is being washed by an Elite customer and will be able to see the

    abusers who take advantage.

I plan to ask my cabin steward when I cruise again if they can just iron some of my clothes since I do hand wash for my delicate glitter clothing.

Does anybody know if they just iron the clothes without washing it?
