I'm currently on Orion. I brought a small digital thermometer with me for the ship and for the hotels ( we were traveling 3 days before). Our fridge on Orion wasn't working at all. The temp was 65 degrees when we arrived. But they fixed it it early the first night (we couldn't board until 6pm so that was really fast). The temp has been a constant 41 degrees for almost 2 weeks now. My meds need to be between 36 and 46. I was prepared to take them to the medical center but the fridge has worked great for me. This is a 93 days cruise so keeping them close makes me feel more secure.

Hi Mia,
When do you cruise to Alaska? We board the Orion in Seward on 9/7 and when we get to Vancouver on 9/17 we are disembarking by tender. Viking told us about it a week ago via email. They outlined that we will have to leave our luggage out the night before and then we will pick it up at a hotel that we will be shuttled to once leaving the Orion.
The Orion is leaving (after your cruise) on 9/17 and heading to Asia and Australia/New Zealand. So it's the last embarkation of the 2023 Alaska season.

Who refills the fridge -- cabin steward or room service?
-
Were there any free shuttle buses in the Alaska ports? I understand most of these ports are close to areas of interest. But is there maybe a bus to areas a little further away (like Exit glacier) offered.

Can I get these teas anywhere/anytime or just at "Tea Time" in WIntergarden? TIA

An option might be to give Steve a call at his office and see if he can sell you a minimal policy that offers the insurance that would take away any questions or anxiety. I purchase a policy for under $100 that gives me $100K in primary medical. Then again, my state of residence allows this. Not sure what FL regs are. Steve can be reached at 888-407-3854
Yes, he said to contact the Consulate for my answer. Depending on what they say, I'll get insurance thru him. Thanks.

Thank you. Our insurance has the same - reimbursement only.
At this point I'm more concerned that I won't be allowed to board the ship or enter Vietnam. The cruise line says the insurance is required but everything I read says that this requirement was removed in May 2022.
-
Thank you. I'll contact them.
-
I am getting conflicting info about needing Travel/Medical Insurance to enter Vietnam (min coverage $10,000).
Is this still required? Our medical insurance covers us outside the US and we have Medjet for evacuation.
If it is required, do you sell this low of coverage?
Thanks for your help.

While you were onboard, did you notice whether or not the laundry rooms required tokens?
Thanks in advance!👍
Yes, they were required. But when the token dispenser was empty, we went to guest services to buy them and they just gave us tokens for free.

Here's the current list.

In the past, they have upgraded people at the end of each segment.

There was accident on the freeway getting and the coaches arrived into Southampton late that morning. All the LHR groups left at 09:50. There was a scramble to get the groups with flights at the Princess recommended 14:00 to their flights. Luckily it was a Saturday and the coaches made it LHR at a little past noon. Not sure if everyone made their flights.
So the 7:45 people had to wait. Thanks for posting this. We're planning to use Princess' transfer to Heathrow. Our flight is at 3pm. Hopefully no repeat problems.

Very helpful, thanks.
Interesting that you are asked to meet at 7:45 but the bus didn't leave until 9:50. It seems
like the usual "hurry up & wait".
That's not how I read this schedule. 4 groups left at 7:45 and 4 groups left at 9:50.

Do you realize what a fortune that Princess could make by selling Princess logo Reidel wine glasses on board??????? Truly, this is a no brainer.
We did a Riedel glass wine tasting on Celebrity a while ago. You got a certificate for 4 glasses to be mailed to your home after the cruise.

1) If I don't have a walking stick, would the Viking room umbrella fit through the closet handles ?
2) I am trying to visualize how you are using the room slippers to keep the coffee shelf from opening. Are you referring to the drawer beneath the shelf or the shelf itself?
1. There weren't any handles on our closet that you could put something through. We put the walking stick in the track that they slide on. An umbrella might work if it was long enough. Others said they put the slippers in between the doors to keep them from moving.
2. The coffee is in a drawer that you can pull out. I understand some ship don't have the drawer. We shoved the slipper in between the wall and the drawer. I'll add a picture. If you pull on that white trim at the front, the shelf (drawer) pulls out.

Luckily we aren't bothered by seasickness. But what we did have to contend with was things in the cabin. The closet doors slam open and then slam closed. It's really scary in the middle of the night. We used walking sticks to block the doors closed. Also the shelf with the coffee maker slides open dumping items onto the floor. We used slippers to keep this shelf from opening. Put the water bottle in the fridge and check your bathroom for items that may fall.

Riedel glasses still being used on Sky - but I will double check tonight to be sure !
We have been taking glasses away every night with no issue. If Vines is full, which it has been every night this cruise, you have no option but to take the glass away when you try and find a seat.
Thank you. We'll be on Sky in May/June.
-
Are Vines glasses special? Can I leave with the glass and take it to dinner? Or can I tell them I need a glass to go? TIA

We try to never plan a cruise or 2 before dry dock - especially a longer dry dock. I always wonder if they are trying to "use up" what ever food they have in stock. I could be totally wrong but ...

Thanks for the help. Where do you find "On board reservations" ? I asked under Help and no results came up.
After you log on, click on "Rewards & Benefits Center" under where it shows your # of points. Then click on "Redeem my points" on the right side of the screen. Then you'll see the picture I posted above. Click on "Onboard Gifts" in the blue line at the top of the screen. Then click on "Spa Visits and Onboard Credits". You'll see 4 OBC amounts to choose from: $50 for 5,000 points, $100 for 10,000 points, $250 for 25,000 points and $500 for 50,00 points.
Have a good cruise!

My credit shows up under the tab "Onboard Reservations" (at the very bottom).
Thanks, It's been years since I've done it. It's good to know you can see it. I know the share holders credit shows there, too.

I cashed in points last May for $1000 worth of gift cards to use for our Alaskan cruise &land cruise. I could not get them to apply. I called Barclays several times and no one could help me. I am out $1000 and getting very upset. There is no record of them being in my account. ANy suggestions.
I haven't done this in quite a while but ... If you did an on board credit, it doesn't show anywhere. But it showed up onboard in our account. I took a copy of the redemption email just in case.
