195 days to go until my 14 day Escape from NY (Southern Caribbean) cruise.

I am kind of in the same dilemma for a 14 day cruise aboard the Escape (Southern Caribbean) regarding the spa. My plan is to bid on an upgrade to Spa Minisuite if that becomes available.

I booked through the cruise line and good thing because there was an issue with the ferry on our return trip. The good news is that we had an extra hour or so on the island and received complimentary beverages all while the ship awaited for our late return.

Hampton Inn Ybor City. About a mile or so away and hotel has a free shuttle to the port.

I booked the Hampton Inn Ybor City. I will have to take a cab from the airport which is $25 flat fee. Free shuttle to the cruise port. The hotel has free wifi and breakfast as well as a pool. Great location with many dining options within walking distance.

I have booked inside cabins, porthole cabins, and balcony cabins on the 10 cruises that we have previously sailed. I even got an upgrade once from aft balcony to forward penthouse suite. The suite was the real deal, but all things considered when money is an issue, and in my case it usually is... I try and book a balcony. Aft balconies are highly desired and often have larger balconies. We have a spa balcony booked aboard the Breakaway cruising to Bermuda in June.

I was 48 y.o. when we booked an upper/lower inside cabin. I took the upper and my wifey bunked in the lower bed. At first it was no problem, but I probably would not do it again. LOL

The baths at Virgin Gorda is a beautiful beach excursion. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I picked up two of those hotel gift cards and I'm sorry to say that they are not a good deal. I gave them away. You could do much better with an AARP discount or even booking direct or through just about any other internet booking site.

We book on CCL website. Where do you book? I don't see any cruises that far in advance. (2017)
I did a mock booking on Carnival's website, but I had my travel agent do the actual booking for this cruise. This particular cruise on the Pride is right before the ship cruises changes ports from Tampa back to Baltimore.
