  1. We did 72 day Circle South America cruises in 2012 & 2017 and was in Fjords same time on both that you will be there in mid February. Temperature was 45 to 55 during day but also very windy especially in Ushuaia. Was looking back at my blog photos and most were wearing mid weight coats. Be sure to also take gloves. I remember in 2012 we froze our butts off on a penguin excursion in Punta Arenas. Highly recommend the "Otway Sound & Penguin Reserve" excursion if offered. It was in 2012 but not in 2017. We will be joining the Explorer in Santiago, Feb 17th.

  2. We were invited to dine with Jason Montague in April after Mariner came out of its dry dock. I asked if 2021 WC would be going around Africa as that is what we wanted to do. Tired of going through Suez!! Our 2010 WC on Voyager went around Africa and we left ship for 4 days to do a safari on our own. Perfect time to do safari! Jason said, no not in 2021 as Mariner was due back in dry dock (every three years) so had to end in Barcelona. Maybe this will explain why it ends in Europe and not in US.

  3. For our two Regent world cruises the shipping of 200 lbs on Luggage Free was included (notice I did not say free) in the price of cruises. On both FedEx was shipper. We had no problems with LF either time but when Fed Ex delivered our luggage back to house after cruises it appeared they drug the bags through dirt. Filthy!! LF was suppose to have bags wrapped second time but that did not happen.

  4. Have had this problem for two weeks now. I have called Regent 2 times and had TA call also. NO HELP so far. Just having problem with our Explorer cruise next Feb. No problem with Splendor cruise in 2020. Cannot understand why it is taking Regent this long to address the issue. Do you think they would let a ship sit in a port for weeks waiting to be fixed??? Did not want to message Jason Montague about this but guess I may have to if underlings will not fix it.

  5. First let me say that almost every travel industry company, ie cruise lines, airlines, etc, have a loyalty program. They spend millions of dollars to attract and keep valued customers. It works! Like Travelcat2, once we started cruising on Regent in 2009 our goal became to be "Titanium". We now have 573 nights on RSSC and are Titanium and have two more cruises booked for total of another 69 nights. At Platinum level (200+ nights) you get free laundry. We paid over $200,000 to obtain that level. Yes, I would be offended if Regent just gave that benefit to everyone much as they have done with the free wifi benefit on many cruises. Prior to 2009 we obtained the top level on Princess (Elite) and Royal Caribbean (Diamond Plus) so as to enjoy the associated benefits there. We fly only American Airlines due to AAdvantage Program benefits. Just trying to say this sort of marketing works. I guess if Regent gave free laundry then you would want free private car to and from ship as we get now after spending over $600,00 on Regent cruises. BTW, you can get free laundry AND NOW MEDICAL on World Cruises! Let me dispel another myth, NOTHING is free on Regent. It's all factored into fares.

  6. Woogie, we were in suite 619 on Navigator for 2017 world cruise. You will love 623. Perfect location and much smoother ride down on lower deck. That's why dining room is down there. Basically same crew will be back for your 2018 WC. We booked the 10 day LA to LA just prior to 2018 WC just so we could visit with the crew. They will be on board to prep ship for WC.

  7. We were in 671 (last side facing suite) on Voyager for our 119 day World Cruise back in 2010. We really did not have much of a vibration issue but big issue was from music in Horizon Lounge below us. Base speakers in ceiling of it was right below. After several complaints the GM made CD have them turned down. On other hand there is a huge vibration problem in aft on Navigator.

  8. You will see much more than water - we did this trip in 2013 and specified a port side cabin because it is better in my opinion for this program as you're travelling anticlockwise. But through the fjords - and there's a few days of this - there's no such thing as a bad view. Many people converge in the Lounges to drink in the whole view if the weather's too inclement to be outside which rather renders this discussion a bit redundant:o.

    Enjoy!

You mostly see water on port side too as ship cruises too far out to see land most of the time. We were on 2012 Circle SA. Doing full Circle SA again in January. Loved it!!

  9. Petlover, looks like we will be your neighbors on the 2017 WC. Rebecca and I are in 619. We have only done one WC and that was in 2010 (last one). One our recent grand cruises they did provided booklets with excursion detailed info. We have received "Guest Directories" on 2010 WC, 2012 Circle South America, and 2013 Bejing to London cruises. It was explained to me by a Regent exec that they were no longer doing them due to privacy issues. We LOVE them. Will be on 2016 Circle SA cruise again in January so will see if the directories have indeed been discontinued. See ya on WC.

  10. The US Health Dept did inspection of Navigator while we were on our San Fran to Vancouver Alaska cruise, May 1st. They received a near perfect score. With nearly 400 nights on Regent, we have never had food problem. Not saying it never happens though.

  11. Agree with all about Cosmos on Regent. I asked and bartender says they use simple syrup in it. YUK! I plan to take bottles of Cranberry Cocktail on Mariner for our 72 day South America cruise so they can make a "proper" Cosmo. I also like lime juice in mine. I promise this is ONLY thing I can find to bitch about on Regent so had to dig deep.

  12. Having logged a few nights sitting at the Stars bar (aft on deck 6) it seems vibration is sometimes worse than others. The bottles on shelves behind the bar really rattle at times. I would avoid aft suites if possible. If you are susceptible to "motion in the ocean", I would definitely stay on lower decks. Was on deck 10 forward for Alaska and could really feel movement of ship. Just booked 2017 world cruise and am in 712 as deck 6 was already booked on first day.

  13. We did Regent's last world cruise in 2010. It was on Voyager which is great ship for that. We have been looking forward to doing another world cruise ever since then but with today's email from Regent saying the 2017 WC would be on the Navigator, that ended our dream. Navigator is too small a ship to be cooped up on for 4 months. Sorry Regent, guess we will check out other luxury lines for their WC. Hate to give up Titanium benefits but as much as we cruise won't take long to achieve benes on Seabourn.

  14. Computerworks--Really enjoyed your photos of Navigator or another thread even though we have been on Navigator previously. Hope to run into you as we are on this cruise also. Did Alaska on Mariner in 2009 and loved the Regent experience. Now have 364 nights on RSSC ships. Neatest thing now is crew members are like our family. On our 2009 cruise Regent arranged some outstanding (for Alaska) weather. Hopefully same on this cruise. See ya aboard.

  15. Totally agree with Catpow about internet on Mariner. Back in 2010 on our World Cruise internet was much slower and not that good but Regent has upgraded it and MUCH better now. I have not worried about doing personal business on board but never do it off the ship. I also do not do personal business while in port even on board. I write a blog on my RSSC cruises so spend several hours every day with writing and uploading photos on it. Best to upload photos early or late in day however. We did not get yellow fever shots. Don't recall any mosquito problems even when in Amazon. Take good repellent however.

  16. Crooz N, We did the Circle SA cruise in 2012 and loved it so much we are doing it again in 2016. Also doing Barcelona to Sydney with you apparently. As a retired airline Captain I flew for 8 years to either Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, or Santiago. I love SA. I used bank ATMs to exchange what money I needed down there. Some cruise lines used the same layover hotel as us and I constantly had to go tell the ladies to take their jewelry off and leave it in hotel safe. When you walk in these SA towns keep your head turning to observe what is going on around you. Take only what money you may need. Leave passport on ship with your jewelry. Watch out for their counterfit money. Taxi drivers will pass funny money. Hold it up to light and you can tell difference. Others previous to me on this thread have given good advice. We have done world cruise on Regent in 2010 and other long cruises. I do not take a lot of cash. I use ATM's or ship for money. BTW, I was mugged once in BA.

  17. Rebecca and I had the pleasure of doing the 2010 World Cruise, our first but hopefully not last one. We met so many super interesting people during that 119 day cruise including Larry and Karen (Larry1365). Ever since I have put on every post cruise critique that we want them to do world cruises again (starting and ending in the US). I was hoping with NCL taking over that they might. Frank Del Rio was NOT a fan of world cruises when with Regent and now here he is head of NCL. I'll have to wait to see WC on skd before I believe it. Voyager was a great WC ship.
