  1. We did 119 day 2010 world cruise in suite 671, a Cat H at very back. Only thing that bothered me was speakers in ceiling of Horizon Lounge directly below us. Complained several times and Jamie, CD, would turn volume down but next night band would turn it back up. Franck, GM, finally took care of it in a meeting with us and Jamie. He told Jamie to "fix it" in no uncertain terms! This should not be issue further forward in Penthouse suites. We were not bothered by vibrations on Voyager. (Navigator is a BAD though) I think you will be very pleased with Deck 6 Penthouse B's.

  2. Thanks for the great review drcandon. Even though we have 304 nights on RSSC, this will be our first cruise on the Navigator. Have not been avoiding it but just prefer the longer cruises. I feel better about Navigator after reading your nice review. Will be on both Voyager and Mariner later this year. Anxious to see their "makeover".

  3. We are booked on Mariner from Miami to Papeete and paid for the business air upgrade ($2500pp) for flights home. Just got our proposed air routing home (Dallas) from Regent today. Ship docks in Papeete at 6:00am and they have us on an Air Tahiti Nui 8:40am flight to LA in business class where we arrive at 7:00pm. We then connect 5 hours later to an American Airlines flight departing shortly after midnight to DFW. THE PROBLEM IS THE AAL FLIGHT IS IN COACH NOT FIRST CLASS. I know it says intercontinental flights in business but in past years the whole trip was in BC or FC. I'm growing weary of the new regime running RSSC and their cost cutting. Think we will just cancel this cruise and make a new home with Seabourn. Have seen most of the ports in the world after 880 days of cruising so the "excursions included" hook Regent has, no longer is big deal to us. BTW, we have been to all the ports on this cruise and most more than once. Why did I book this? We like long cruises and know many of Regent's crew members.

  4. We were on the Caribbean Princess from Jan 25th to Feb 8th in a Dolphin deck mini suite mid ship. Loved every thing about the two cruises EXCEPT the sound proofing of the staterooms. Slamming doors from surrounding staterooms, talking passengers passing by in hallway, and early rising neighbors could be heard through walls. There is no soundproofing especially from entry doors. Doors slam closed unless you make effort to stop them and others did not. These were our 75th and 76th cruises on many different ships and had never had problem like this. Before someone tells me to wear ear plugs, I cannot for medical reason. We loved the rest of our cruise experience on Princess (we are elite) especially the great food served hot, great dining room service, and very friendly crew members. Will not return to the Caribbean Princess because of the noise issue. Can someone recommend another class of ship that has quiet staterooms.

What is your suite number, or better yet, what area of ship is affected by the smell of sewage?? We will be on Voyager for 26 days this summer.

We were on Voyager Beijing to London last spring and one of our friends had same problem with foul smell. They complained to GM but nothing got done until their travel agent intervened with Regent and they moved them.

  6. Regent went into crapper when Mark Conroy got "let out to pasture". His non-compete clause is expiring soon and I expect he will be grabbed by another luxury line. Where ever he goes, I will go. As Platinum level on Regent I hate to start over at bottom but... Regent is "giving" everyone all the "perks" I have earned over the years. Not fair to me but good deal for newbies. I have two Regent cruises booked for next year already. Probably last ones.

  7. Rates on Princess seem pretty high. Grand voyages on Regent Seven Seas about same but Regent is all-inclusive. If you are considering a long voyage I would go to a travel agent and get Regent's "Grand Voyages" brocheur. All rooms are suites with balconies. Airfare, booze, tips, excursions included and on some of the grand voyages, laundry, door-to-door luggage, and visas included. It is a "luxury" cruise line and not in same league as Princess. We are Elite with Princess, Diamond Plus with RCL, Platinum with Regent, and have cruised on six other cruise lines for total of 80 cruises.
  8. We were on Liberty Oct 20th to Nov 9th (7 day Med b2b with 13 day crossing). Our first and LAST time on Freedom Class! With 350 cruise credits on RCL I think we can make a few judgements. Here were our main concerns with Liberty: 1) food in main dining room (late seating) was mediocre at best and rarely hot. 2) we had grand suites for both cruises and both located under solarium. Noise day AND from 2:30 am to 5:00 am with moving of carts and lounge chairs on tile floor above. I brought it to concierge's attention and he tried to resolve problem. I think deck supervisors were trying but ..... Hotel Director did send us two $500 certificates to be used on next cruise but I would have rather had good nights sleep. AVOID BEING UNDER SOLARIUM!

We are going to try Princess again in January. Have 21 cruises with Princess but none since 2006 as have been doing RCL and Regent Seven Seas.

  9. We just got off Liberty on Nov 9th after crossing cruise. Weather was great for the 13 days. Smooth sailing except for a couple days but even they were not bad for Atlantic. We did southern route across which is better. We did have a big problem with dining room food. Mediocre at best and seldom hot when delivered to table. I am comparing the Liberty to Oasis food wise. We found food great and hot when on Oasis. This was our first and last cruise on "freedom class". We were in a grand suite that was under solarium and had to listen to lounge chairs being drug across tile floor all day and then at 3 to 5 am when deck hands were cleaning up there. Bars on Liberty had a wine by glass list but did not have the wines that were listed on it. By the way, this was our 74th cruise with 31 on them on RCCL and this was not a good experience. It was the ship and not the crossing. We love crossings and this was our 5th.
