  1. Ahhhh . . . a pre-Cagney's story needed:

Also a part of my onboard list o' things to get arranged was checking on availability of a Posh Pass for the week. I got in line at Guest Services to inquire, and there was a line of about a dozen people or so. While in line, one of their crew members went to everyone in the line to see if there was any general info she could offer, and possibly direct them to another location if this wasn't the right one. Very nice! Disney Cruise Lines does that as well, but some cruise lines just let you fend for yourself, and "it sucks to be you", if you're in the wrong place. Five minutes later a separate person came by with the same offer.

I got to the desk and didn't even have to use my practiced sad face to see if they'd offer just one more pass for a solo passenger. He merely asked how I'd heard about that arrangement being available, and I easily told him Cruise Critic. He filled out a form, then he walked over to the cashier to process, and then asked for my keycard to set it up for access. Cool!!

    .

T-n-C, and I later went to check the place out, and my card worked (thankfully) but one of theirs didn't get the Green light. No big deal, and easily overcome, but a bit ironic since their beautiful villa has that already in the total package. Really liked the Posh area, and knew it would be a perfect location several times during the week when I fell into iPod/book mode.

Another irony was that I had easy access to this somewhat exclusive area, but now could no longer get back to my own cabin. My keycard would get me into the studio, but not into the hallway door to get to my studio. Twice during that afternoon I had to wait for someone to either enter or exit and slip in with them. Figured it was because of the new card, but still odd that the hallway would give me Red light.

A visit to the nice folks at Guest Services came to full conclusion (and they said it was new for them as well). Your keycard can have access to your cabin and ONE zone, and most on the ship don't require any zones at all. Villas/Studios do (and perhaps even more).

It seems (to me) very unlikely that I was the first person ever in a Studio to take advance of the Posh Pass arrangement during the months of sailing, but they seemed to think it was a unique situation. They easily found a solution by putting my original card back to the way it was, and creating a separate card for the Post access. Win/Win :)

While at Guest Services for those needed visits, I asked several of the crew members what they personally preferred at Cagney's. They were more than pleased to offer opinions, and two were very quick to say, "Definitely get the ribeye". So that was my plan, and I stuck with it.

    What is a poch pass?

  2. Did you arrange for a $20.00 rate through Jaital? The only thing I see on their website is an excursion for sightseeing and Doctor's Cave?

If you look further down there page u will see the option for just a shuttle. The cost to Doctor Cave is 20 pp

  3. I need help, I booked FOT for August 17th 2014 about 10 months ago. I now show the price for the same cabin type ( D1) is now about $300 lower then what i paid (cabin is PIF). I tryied to send the prices reduction form but the system will not allow. How do i procesed? Will they honor the lower rate?

  4. When we were boarding the taxi in the Falmouth cruise ship port, an attendant filling up the cars stated that we must pay full fair of $20. However, when we arrived at the Dr.Cove beach, my husband asked the driver if it's o.k. to give him half the fair. The driver took 1/2 with no problems. (As I wrote above he failed to pick up , so it worked out better that way.)

So am I looking at $20 per person? That's 80 bucks for a group of 4.wow thats a lot for cab ride.

  5. Long time lurker here who just registered with CC today and so here it is...my FIRST CC POST. So many helpful posters on this site and I hope I can be one in the future although we have only cruised once before in 2012 on RCCL's Allure of the Seas.

We will be on Oasis in July and visiting Falmouth. My wife and I are looking hard at Dr C's in Montego Bay but have questions regarding transportation to and from the beach. It seems from everything I've been reading on here that the $20 roundtrip p/p seems to be the going rate. However, unless you KNOW it's the same driver returning you to the pier, how does this work exactly? Is it easier to simply pay one way fares? I mean is the fare set in stone to be the same each way? I know other islands have regulated fares for taxis but it bothers me to feel I'm paying a roundtrip fare without a guarantee that my return trip is guaranteed. Anyone have any thoughts or advice about this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Great question, me and my family are on the Freedom OTS in AUgust 2014 and would like to know more about transpertation also.

  6. Just visited Doctor's Cave last week (6/1-8/2014). Cost was $6 pp for entry. They did not give out wrist bands but I would guess that re-entry could be arranged with the person collecting the entry fees.

We took the shuttle bus service (JUTA) from the port. Cost was $10 pp each way ($20 pp R/T). They will drop off and pick up right outside the beach entrance. Our driver was supposed to pick us up at 4:00 but did not arrive until 4:20. We still had adequate time to get back to the ship but it gave our group a little scare wondering if we had been ditched. Make sure you get a business card from the driver with his name and contact information as a back up. Our situation was probably an isolated event attributed to our driver. It all worked out fine in the end but just take the precaution of getting the driver's and company contact information.

What port was your ship in?

  7. I just transferred my booking to my TA yesterday. Prior to the transfer I spoke to her about what perks we would get. I gave her my cruise information and she confirmed the perks. After that I faxed the transfer to RC. She said she usually gets the transfers within 2 days and the perks would be applied immediately. I would not transfer to a TA without knowing exactly what perks they are offering first.

SO do you have to transfer to a TA before final payments are made?

  8. We have cruised for many years with RCI and have always done Traditional MDR...but on our most recent Oasis cruise we opted for MTD.....We just easily showed up each night at various times..depending on what we were doing..and didn't mind having different waitstaff and table locations..The flexibility worked out great and have actually chosen MTD on our next three cruises we have booked.

I have chosen the MTD option on the FOS and would like to know if we have set up a resveration time do i have to keep it? I am sure there are some days we will want early times or maybe later times.

  9. Now if someone will tell us how to book our drink packages and excursions on the RCI website I would be one happy camper!!

Tried again this morning and it will not take my credit card......!!!

Come on RCI.....this is bordering on ridiculous!!!

I had the same problem, and i know there was plenty of funds available. What i found out was that my credit union was blocking the pymts because they were being processed by a canadian company.
