  1. We are in Aft cabin 10280 on the EDGE. Is it possible we might have an Infinite veranda? If so is there are way to be sure?

You will find a link to Edge deck plans at the bottom of the following web page...

    https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-ships/celebrity-edge

Cabin 10280 does not feature an infinite veranda... You will note that staterooms which do feature an infinite veranda--such as nearby 10265 or 10272 [neither aft]--are noted differently in the drawings [for any given cabin, look carefully at the "line" between its interior area and its balcony area (straight line = no infinite veranda)]]...

  2. Most airlines are waiving change fees!

Your return flight on JB should not be cancelled unless you cancel it. Each way is a separate item on JB. Good luck....let us know what happens.

JetBlue implemented change fee waivers on Tuesday for those who had flights booked from the Northeast today... Early on the process was fast, easy, and hassle-free with good flight availability (I’m now returning to FLL from EWR on Sunday morning)...

Unfortunately once the flights cancel (over 850 at Newark alone today; all three New York area airports were closed much of the day) and realities set in with passengers, reschedule can become extremely challenging for those with a limited time frame for travel after so significant a disruption to the national air grid...

Best wishes to the TS in getting to San Juan on time! Lots of options to explore but do so quickly! The issue won’t be resolved here...

  3. Wow, so Allure of the Seas is also there that day! Where does that huge ship go?!!

With joint funding from Royal Caribbean International and Broward County, Terminal 18 at Port Everglades was renovated and expanded some years ago to accommodate the Oasis-Class megaships... At present Harmony Of The Seas uses that terminal on Saturdays, Allure Of The Seas uses that terminal on Sundays, and other Royal Caribbean or Celebrity ships use that terminal for weekday arrivals/departures...

During high season, it's not uncommon for there to be five/six/seven cruise ships using Port Everglades on each weekend day...

  4. I doubt they offer luggage valet in BCN.

Ostensibly because of Immigration/Customs considerations, Luggage Valet is never offered on international flights other than for a selected few routes originating and ending within North America [united States and Canada]...

  5. According to Arno's last Whos on board (1st Dec) John was Suite manager and Jole was MCC

I was aboard Equinox from December 2 until December 9...

During that sailing, John served as Michael's Club Concierge [unless his contract has since been extended, he was then expecting to go on home leave as of 17 January (as was also true of Captain's Club Hostess, Elaine)]... Roxie [Roxanna] served as Suite Manager during that trip...

  6. Medicare Supplement insurance is Standardized. Foreign coverage on seven of the common plans is 80% of reasonable charges with a $50,000 lifetime benefit. It's good for trips - not moving out of the country.

I am a retired Benefits Director for a major corporation and you are--best I know--correct about the foreign travel provisions of Medicare Supplements....

That said, some choose to augment Medicare via a Medicare Advantage Plan... Benefits can be superior in terms of inclusions/cost sharing to those provided [some even include pharmacy benefits] through a Medicare Supplement but, in turn, they tend to be offered on a geographically localized basis with a very narrow array of participating physicians, hospitals, and ancillary medical service providers--think of a strictly controlled HMO--with little [if any] coverage for services provided outside the residence-based service area network...

For that reason, Medicare Advantage Plans don't tend to be particularly favorable selections for those with multiple residences in the United States [ie; I spend part of the year in Florida and part of the year in New Jersey] let alone when traveling outside the country...

It is essential that one carefully/thoroughly know the related out-of-area service provisions--if they exist-- associated with the plan in which one is personally enrolled... The semantics--Supplement versus Advantage--can be tricky/confusing--and broad-based comments, however well intended here--can lead to inappropriate decisions...

  7. Not quite...AFAIK celebrity allows two bottles per stateroom. A single occupancy gets two bottles allowance. A triple occupancy also is allowed two bottles.

    You are certainly correct, cruisestitch...

As we’ve both noted, guests traveling solo on Celebrity get the same two bottle maximum allowance (it’s per stateroom and not per adult guest) as do those occupying a cabin with two or more guests...

    PERIOD...

    Happy Holidays!

  8. Has this ever happened to anyone one else? We've only taken 1 other Celebrity cruise' date=' and are anxiously awaiting the 2nd. While we enjoyed it very much, when we got to the dock, with two bottles of wine, we were sent to a table to have our corkage fees accessed. I've seen many postings here where you'all have indicated you have brought wine, in the proper amount, straight on board without additional fees.[/quote']

Have cruised with Celebrity often and have never seen corkage assessed at boarding... I believe that some of the Carnival lines (or perhaps just one; I seem to recall reading that Princess and/or HAL has such a practice; I can’t recall for certain) does some sort of corkage review and, if applicable, fee assessment before boarding...

Carnival brands also tend to express their carry-on wine allowance (if there is one) on a per adult guest basis... Celebrity expresses their allowance on a per cabin (maximum two bottles for an adult guest traveling solo) basis with corkage assessed if opened outside one’s stateroom...

Unless things have changed in the less than two weeks since I last sailed Celebrity, something seems awry...

  9. One must contact Celebrity or—if used, one’s Travel Agent—to prepay gratuities...

For what it’s worth and just as a matter of personal preference, I always have my Travel Agent add prepaid gratuities to my invoice upon booking a cruise... In one case, gratuity rates increased prior to final payment and Celebrity honored the amount that had been added to the invoice at booking... Didn’t much matter as I topped up my gratuities on a discretionary basis at cruise conclusion—as I always seem to do—to the wonderful staff (in cash) at a rate well in excess of the published increase...

  10. New reservations—whether made directly with Celebrity (while aboard or by internet or phone) or through a Travel Agent—are not automatically added to your online My Celebrity profile...

With your booking number, you can easily add them to your profile; it’s a straightforward process after logging in to your My Celebrity account...

  11. Lunch at Luminae is from 12:00 to 1:30. Is it the same on embarkation day?

Traveling at the moment without access to the dailies but my recollection is that Luminae serves lunch on embarkation days during the same Noon to 1:30 PM time period...

  12. That's because people have realised that Luminae is a shining beacon of tranquility on embarkation day and head straight there. So my advice to the OP is to do the same if possible.

I've dined in Luminae on several trips and--after my initial experience--still haven't warmed to it/come to love it as you do... During my first cruise providing suite guests with access to Luminae, I went there for lunch upon embarkation, asked the Maitre 'D to set up a standing reservation for dinner, and was told that one would not be necessary... When I showed up at the time I'd requested, I was told that there would be a forty minute wait and--when I questioned that given that tables were empty--was further told that they had been reserved... Difficult to rationalize given the response I'd gotten to my reservation request more than six hours earlier when Luminae was virtually empty... For medical reasons, I went to The Oceanview--it was fine--but couldn't get over the unusual lack of professionalism exhibited by that Maitre 'D [initially and when I showed up for dinner; he exhibited no sign of recognizing the disconnect between his advice and reality] and it left a lasting impression...

And to be candid, I'm not particularly fond of some of the rather limited Luminae-specific dinner menu offerings [i am allergic to all fin fish and most seafood; there is a heavy emphasis on both] and don't need to pay suite prices--the additional space is nice/not essential and in any case I am accorded all of the "Go Best" suite perks [plus some] by virtue of my loyalty regardless of stateroom category--to mostly dine from the very nice but somewhat less distinctive MDR menu...

While I don't preclude booking a suite/dining in Luminae in the future [i know many--but not all--love it; one size doesn't fit all] in the future, my upcoming cruises are all booked in AquaClass with dining in Blu; that's where I first became addicted to sailing with Celebrity [enjoy the food and atmosphere more than that offered in the MDR; have never had a service lapse] and that's where I'm personally happiest...

    Fortunately, we all have options...

  13. Do you need a reservation for Luminae if your in a sky suite? And is it open for breakfast?

Luminae is open daily for breakfast and dinner with lunch served on embarkation day and sea days... Open seating with no reservations needed; I've had only one instance in which I wasn't seated immediately [it was an embarkation day dinner] upon arrival at Luminae...

  14. What is a 2b2? We are doing aqua class for jazz festival April 23

B2B is a shortcut denoting "back to back" [consecutive] cruises... If you were doing the cruise prior or after your 23 April cruise aboard Equinox, you would be doing a B2B... If you were doing all three, you would be doing a B2B2B...

If you were doing consecutive cruises on different ships and/or different cruise lines, some refer to such a sequence as a "side by side"...

  15. i am anxious to play either game please let me know if you are available

With all due respect, one would need to be psychic to know which of Celebrity's nine ships [not including those that sail the Galapagos] you are sailing and when you will be aboard...

This Cruise Critic sub-forum is intended to discuss issues/answer questions relative to sailing with Celebrity in general... Discussions related to a specific cruise [such as yours]--by ship and date--are best addressed via the Roll Call sub-forums; that's where you will be able to communicate with those who will be aboard your specific sailing...

Your Cruise Critic posting history suggests that you are sailing Celebrity Silhouette on 17 December and that you have already joined that Roll Call... If true, that's where you should post this request so that others who will be aboard your specific sailing might respond to your inquiry...

  16. I'm enjoying your commentary!

After nearly forty ocean cruises, I completed my first two river cruises this summer--also with AMA; first was aboard AmaStella from Vilshofen to Budapest on the Danube; second was aboard AmaSonata from Basel to Amsterdam on the Rhine--and am enjoying the opportunity to relive my AMA and Danube experiences through your eyes... Uwe was Cruise Manager while I was aboard AmaStella too; I found him to be personable, professional, and knowledgeable with strong commitment to guest satisfaction and excellent cruise orchestration skills [as was true of his colleague, Agnes; Cruise Manager while I was aboard AmaSonata]...

I was thoroughly impressed by AMA--they were a perfect choice for me--and am currently considering future itineraries with them... Despite my aversion to cold weather, your comments--along with those of another recent AMA Christmas Markets cruiser--might just influence my decision...

    Many thanks!

  17. Good question. This has been a long debated topic with no clear answer. It seems suite guests often/ regularly get an invite to at least one sail away. Other cabin guests are invited due to loyalty status with celebrity or special occasion.

Anyone else have input on the topic?

Unusually, there were actually two helipad sail-aways on this trip...

I was told that the first--out of Key West--was for first time Celebrity cruisers; I've never seen that before... The second--out of Cozumel--was, as if most often the case, for high loyalty guests [i was "Top Cruiser" this trip and celebrating my induction as a Zenith member of Captain's Club; start to finish, I was treated royally (as were five friends who were aboard)], suite guests [sometimes all; sometimes those occupying only the topmost suite categories] and--on occasion--by invitation from The Master/a Senior Officer, the Captain's Club Host(ess) [currently Elaine; until 17 January], the Suite Manager [currently Roxie], and/or the Michael's Club Concierge [currently John; also until 17 January based upon current schedule]...

We too had dinner in Murano on Thursday evening; the experience was exceptional!

  18. Cozumel question - did the ships time match Cozumel time? I'm looking at the schedule and it says docked at 7 am. Was that 7 am ships time only, or was that Cozumel time?

I was aboard this cruise too...

At present, the time in Cozumel is the same as US Eastern Standard Time... There were no adjustments to ship time during this cruise [itinerary = Key West, Puerto Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman]...

  19. Anyone know if this is true? And if so when?

Aboard Equinox now; have it on very good authority from multiple members of Senior Staff that there is substance to the rumor you have heard...

Won't happen immediately--there are duty schedules and vacations to coordinate; Captain Kate will apparently be aboard to do some understudy with Captains Dimitrios and Costas as she transitions from Millennium-Class to Solstice-Class just as she will seemingly provide transitional guidance to her replacement [seemingly there has been a very recent promotion to Captain and there may be a few other rotation changes] on Summit--but will be complete before Costas goes on assignment at the shipyard [reportedly sometime in June] preparatory to bringing out Edge in December...

  20. We're staying in room 2124 on the reflection which is right below the sundries shop. Is it quiet? Did you like the room?

Thanks, Christina for YOUR review. I apologize for others who feel the need to hijack this thread with their own personal vendettas that are usually all negative...yes, this is CC, but I really want to hear about your cruise from you. We all have negative experiences at one time or another, but it is how we handle them that is important. You are being very tactful IMHO. So please continue! I have been on the Reflection for a TA to Rome, along with being in a suite, so I appreciate knowing your experiences.

Anything is possible but I question whether Christina will be responding to questions or continuing her review... This thread is now a year old with Christina's last post on 24 November 2016!

  21. I really hate to bother my TA because she's a good friend and my questions are things I should be able to get answered without an intermediary.

Kind thought but your Travel Agent is receiving a commission from the cruise line for providing such services and--in exchange for that financial consideration--is expected to serve as your intermediary...
