  1. So as we were about .....

Oh, just in case someone reading this is thinking of getting greedy and think you can double dip and get 2 presents by doing both lines, nope. RCI is way ahead of you. Each kid has to bring his/her sea pass to get a present and they mark up your sea pass to note that you got a gift as well as checking a master roaster sheet printout with every kids’ name/cabin number on it. So you can only get one.

Gives a new meaning to Santa Claus is coming to town and checking his list twice…

I get the stickers to show they have gotten a gift. Maybe the list is for all the kids that didn't go, they will send the gift to their room? [emoji6]

    Just hopeful thinking!

Thanks for sharing what the gift was.... ah to be a kid again.....

  2. Symphony is just a pipe dream cruise. In reality, it’ll be more like the Ovation first as Symphony has a higher price premium as it’ll be the newest ship. Cheapo dad will look at the price premium and opt for something else when it comes to final selection time. We also haven’t tried the Quantum class ship yet so it would be a good experience to sail on something new.

Indy is a great ship. Some people have complained about not 100% perfect shape the ship is in. I don’t vacation by looking down on the ground on what carpet stains they have at each area. I look up to take pictures of the surroundings and people so my preferences are different.

You will be fine. Have a great cruise.

The freedom class ships are actually my favorites right now. I know they are older ships but I really like the layouts. I also like that I don't have to make reservations for shows and they don't feel crowded even at full capacity. Some day we will try the larger RCCI ships, but I feel like I will need a week to explore the ship alone! So will have to find a long itinerary with lots of sea days [emoji4]

Thanks for humoring all the questions and I will continue to live vicariously through you until I get to go next month!

    Happy memory reliving!

  3. Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response on this thread as you know I was busy with my other trip report. Starting to get confused on which thread I need to respond to.

Alaska typically has the older crowd. More cerebral with the naturalists on board to explain nature. Fewer sun worshipers. Probably not going to find too many people walking around after 11 PM.

    Thanks,

    Harry

Totally makes sense, and I would be totally okay with that. Now I just have to convince others that it's not cold in the summer and it's absolutely worth it. Might be a large task but I'm determined to do it some day even if it means dragging others kicking and screaming lol [emoji6]

  4. Glad to hear the cold is almost gone, now to kick the rest of it out. I get it cause the last couple of times I catch a cold on the way back home.

Jewel of the seas this September had the same thing with the glasses half "full". I don't mind it though.

I love the last pic of the PR with the dark lightning. Also loved the tree pics.

San Juan is awesome. I hope you got a chance to try the mofongo.... oh my, so yummy.

  5. Hi,

Thanks for the kind words and following along another trip report. Glad I am able to help again.

The cold is getting better slowly. Hoping to kick all the symptoms by Monday but you know sometimes these things just lingers. Thanks for caring.

The cruise director's name is Mark. Don't know his last name but I am sure someone will chime in soon enough. Think I heard him saying on the morning TV that he will leave for the Symphony?

They have that list where they tell you all the important people's name in the daily compass but I tossed mine before coming home. Only brought home the daily compass as typically people ask about those but since our cruise is a super special cruise, it's an unicorn cruise for the Indy and nobody that will sail on Indy cares about it.

    enhance

Have a great cruise next month.

Thanks for the downlow.... according to another poster he seems to be leaving at the end of January. I'll have to see if I can find the website that lists which director is on what ship. We had a really good one one the Freedom last January so I'm hoping my luck holds out on this class of ship!

Also, it's Monday so I hope the cold is mostly gone now [emoji106]

  6. Hi Harry, glad to see you are back with another review! I feel like I'm following in your foot steps because I read your Freedom review right before I went on it. Now I just found this after we decided to book the Indy for February earlier this week....very happy to be caught up and gearing up for for trip! Getting me pumped! I actually have been on the Indy before and really enjoyed it. I don't think you mentioned yet (or I'm hard of reading lol) but can I ask who the cruise director was? When we were on it was a great director that was originally from Jamaica (sorry, can't remember his name). He was funny and very engaging. I hope this trip will be someone just as good as they set the feel for the cruise. Looking forward to reading more and glad to hear that your cold seems to be getting better. Cheers

  7. I usually find it cool and the difference between inside and outside can be jarring when coming in and out. I usually have a light wrap I can throw on when I come in from the outside and tanks or thin shirts for outside. I have found it nice on deck and if it's super hot the shade is nice. Temperature is subjective but I find the same problem with figuring out what to wear when going to work.... hot outside, freezing air conditioning inside lol I will say it's more flexible to choose what to wear on a ship. Happy travels :)

  8. Macy's frequently has Effy at 50-60% off. Just checked. Lots of Effy on big sale today, June 13th. Not sure how long but as I said, Effy sales are frequent.

We have a store up here, The Bay, that has really good deals on effy once and a while. I know they say it's cheaper in port but I have not found that to be the case. Being Canadian I also have to factor in exchange while travelling. .... so usually I don't find good deals when travelling. That being said if I have money left to spend with my obc, that's a different story [emoji12]

  9. We were on the Royal 2 weeks ago and the jewelry store was Effy

Do they have a bug selection?

On Royal Princess out of Port Everglades, April 2017, struggled to find anything to purchase.

Do they still sell the Tortuga rum cakes? That's always worth a purchase [emoji6]

  10. It's been over 2 years since sailing on the Regal but other Princess ships we've sailed since then (Crown & Star) had an Effy store. Although after reading their catalogue sent to our cabin, the cheapest item was over $400 so never wasted our time going there. ;)

Love effy but usually have the same reaction as you lol

  11. It doesn't work, or at least it didn't when I tried a few months ago.

Edited: I just tried and it won't send the message.

Sorry, never tried it myself but thought it would be a good thing..... if it worked of course. Apparently they need to do some usability on their app lol

  12. Unfortunately it doesn't work to just post here since we have no way to contact you. If you want someone to refer you, you need to send them a direct e-mail and give them your full name and e-mail address. It's worth trying even if you've already booked. Often it works but sometimes it doesn't - but it doesn't cost anything to try!

If you're on the cruise critic app if you click on the posters username it takes you to another page that says something like "message user" I don't know how private it is but I think it might be another option to contact people.
