  1. It's my understanding from reading other threads on here about the cabins on the slant of the hump that all of them have balconies that are larger than the balconies of non-hump cabins. However, according to these threads, the balconies of the cabins that are the first and third off the straight part of the hump are the largest. See the discussion and cabin list on this thread, for example:

Based on my stay in Cabin 1231 on the Eclipse, I think that Cabin 1106 is in a great location. Based on these other threads about hump cabins (not my personal knowledge), the balcony of 1106 should be large, but not as large as the balcony of Cabin 1108 next to it.

Also, doing a search on the sticky in the Celeb forum on the S-class cabins for "1106" (which I highly recommend as a resource for anyone before booking a cabin on one of these ships) produced these two summaries of Cabin 1106 on S-class ships, which you should read.

If you do a search in this forum for hump cabins, you should find even more info ...

I hope this is helpful in making your decision. Have a great trip!

    Thank you!

  2. What did you do there? That is one of our ports on our upcoming Jewel of the Seas crews. Thanks for sharing.

We did something we don't normally do, because we didn't find out about La Harve being canceled until we arrived to check in. We booked a ship excursion. I don't know the name of the excursion but it took us to the Normandy Invasion beaches (Omaha and another I can't remember now), The Normandy American Military Cemetery (breath taking), to Bayeaux (to see the cathedral, one of the most beautiful cathedrals I've been to and the Bayeaux Tapestry) and we ate lunch at a French farm (awesome food). It was all amazing. Even the bus ride through the French countryside was so lovely.

I don't normally tell people to book ship excursions but this one was exceptional.

  3. ....Id like to know why I should be denied because Im a adult somethign that Oasis provides that I looked forward to with great excitement for 18 months in advance. If you object .. .. write RCL dont whine here.....

Seriously? You would feel "denied" if you missed out on a character breakfast with children's movie characters? If anyone is sounding whiny it would seem to me that it's the adults who are saying they made the reservations first , so, suck it up kids, we paid and we get to do what we want. Geez Louise, get a grip.

  4. In my most humble opinion, I am surprised that adults want to go to these kiddie functions. As a mother of 4 I accompanied my children over the years to so many Breakfasts with Santa, character breakfasts at Disney, and a load of other places that required a parent to accompany a child and I am so over all that. :) The little kids actually think those characters are REAL but we parents (adults) know they are NOT. Being at these functions with a child, so you can see it through their eye makes it tolerable...but without a child you love with you, it would seem like torture. :D

    To each his own!

  5. ....I also agree with a previous poster who said that we are comparing two completely different things. Exposing Children to an adults lounge with alchohol is not something I would think any cruise line would allow.

Alcohol is available ALL over the ship, pretty much everywhere but the spa and the children's club. Should people keep their children (18 years and younger) away from the pool, dining room, Windjammer, show room, etc.? There's serious drinking going on in all those venues.

  6. We will be cruising on the Jewel in June and I can't wait! We have never cruised on a Radiance Class ship before, but I have seen them in ports we have been to on other cruise ships and I have always thought that they were the most beautiful looking ships ever. I have always thought on those occasions that someday I will sail on one of those ships....and now I am.

I would love to hear what others have to say about the Jewel.

  7. I have two favorites.

The first was when we were cruising Hawaii on Legend of the Seas. This is a picture of Legend from our table at the Feast at Lele luau in Maui.

The second one is of our grandson, Tommy, on Dawn Princess last Thanksgiving. It was the last day of the cruise and Papa and Tommy were playing in the hall while Mommy and Daddy were packing up. Tommy got into on of the cages that they crew moves the luggage around in and I snapped this shot. I always tell people our kids don't give us any problems on cruises because we keep them locked up!! :D
