  1. Hi everyone -

I'm a long-time lurker and lost my former account, but finally felt I had something to contribute that was worthwhile so I decided to jump in. I recently returned from a March break cruise on Anthem of the Seas and have begun creating some video reviews. I was pretty shy to take video on the trip during the first few days and slowly warmed up to it a bit more. I don't know why I was so self-conscious - in retrospect, I wish I had captured more moments.

The first one was my absolute favourite part of the whole trip - trying out Ripcord by iFLY. I was scared & secretly hoping out reservations would get cancelled.. ha... but my mom agreed to do it and if she was going through with it, so was I!

Have a look at how it turned out:

Editing these takes some time so I hope to post a new one once a week or so.

Looks like a riot, We have those locally here, maybe I'll check it out. Thanks of the encouragement.

  2. I worked out I'd smash the break even barrier at approximately 3:16pm on day 3 of a 7 day cruise.

I look to smash the break even barrier by 8:30pm day 1 before I stroll (or get carried) into the MDR for dinner. Hope someone tells me how dinner is. Good chance I won't remember it. :D

  3. Apparently solo travelers don't qualify for the Suite Guarantee rates. Since I've considered sailing by myself at some point, I sat down and did some price comparison on an upcoming (August 2017) sailing on Oasis. I tried it for both 2 passengers and 1 passenger, and both signed into my C&A account and not signed in. The short answer is, with the current sale the C&A discount is worthless, and a solo passenger would be Royally screwed if they wanted a Junior Suite.

When logged into my C&A account:

2 passengers, Suite Gty, $2539 total, including C&A discount of $76 and BOGO

1 passenger, no Suite Gty available, JS is $4136 total, including C&A discount of $100 and BOGO50

When NOT logged into my C&A account:

2 passengers, Suite Gty, $2596 total plus $100 OBC, including BOGO

1 passenger, no Suite Gty available, JS is $4210 plus $100 OBC, including BOGO50

So I have to wonder, if I book a Suite Gty for 2 passengers and only 1 passenger shows up, would they reprice the whole thing without the Gty?

Have no clue if this would work... but what if you booked for two, and on the cruise the other passenger suddenly got "sick" and you just went alone?

  4. Song of Norway, Sun Viking and Nordic Prince sailed for many years under different names but are all out of service now.

Song of Norway was the first ship I ever cruised. Was supposed to be on Monarch, but under construction - it burned 12 desks and Norway was pulled into service until Monarch could launch. I liked that ship, albeit small and older. It was fun, and small enough to meet most people on the ship.

  5. Been on the Allure and Oasis a number of times (Going on Allure again in Sept), but also booked the Seaside next June. Like others have noted, looking for a different experience and let's face facts... 2 YC suites for the 5 of us for less than the cost of one GS on RCCL. It's worth a gamble. Plus their Match Status offer (we are Diamond so we automatically become Black Card members is a nice perk.

  6. you are not doing your homework--MSC will match you loyalty for any line. fillin the form and show proof-

we became Black after being on NCL platinum and RCCL Diamond, you don't need both just one

Good to know, we are Diamond so will look into it. Thx

  7. We are Diamond + on RCCL. Just went on our first MSC cruise 2 weeks ago on Meravigilia. We will be back on Seaside in Jan 2018. DH and I liked MSC. We will cruise again with RCCL ONLY to keep our status (I believe we have to do one cruise with them every 36 months).

Beautiful ship. Can' beat the price. We like that we can pick the type of cabin and experience we want, and pay for what we want.

We typically travel with my mother and our young daughter.

What do your teens/college age children on RCCL that maybe unique to RCCL?

Don't forget to get your status matched!

I thinks the kids will do fine on MSC.

What do you mean "Status Match"?

  8. I have been on 12 cruises but all on RCCL. Seen much of MSC recently (they are really pushing to grow market share) Looking to maybe try the Seaside in 6/18. For those who have sailed both lines, what are the pros and cons of each? Most likely book a YC suite as we enjoy the perks. I kinda like the idea of what appears to be a separate deck for suites which is not really how RCCl does it.

Have 3 late teen/college age kids that will be joining us.

    Thoughts?

  9. If you post your question on the FLORIDA departure boards you will get some excellent advice and the mods won't move your thread.

That being said love to sail from Ft. L and there are tons of things to do based on your interests and time in town. Great restaurants too.

Please, go to FLORIDA area as many locals post there. Happy Sails

    Thx I'll check it out

  10. What browser are you using for site?

I have a Mac but use Chrome for my main browser and Safari as a back-up. If one is acting up or not displaying correctly, I'll use the other as a test. That usually fixes it or confirms it's me and not them. For PC users, you can use Chrome or IE (internet explorer). If things are broken on both, time to make a phone call to RCCL or whoever you are surfing cause maybe their tech support can help.

    Hope it helps.

  11. I have had issues on the site, but it usually is my Cache or browser and not RCCL's technology. It is tough to manage a very complicated process on the web with so many browsers (outdated and poorly maintained on the users side-not saying this is the case-just had a lot of experience with it). But when I had an issue, using a different browser taught me quickly who had the problem. In reality, I'm with most of the respondents. I haven't had an issue that was on their side. Remember, if their site isn't working, they are making any money. I'm pretty sure they'd be all over it.
