  1. In fairness, the Apple was served to her by a U.S. airline and it was sealed/wrapped by the airline. The intent of the U.S. Customs rule is to avoid smugling agricultural products from another country due to risk of disease, harmful bacteria, contaminants, etc. I can understand her thinking that since she did not acquire the apple in a foreign country that it need not be declared. Maybe Delta actually loaded the apples onto the plane in the U.S.? In any event, she did not bring it from another country. I think she has a strong legal argument.

  2. While you certainly CAN do Athens on your own, I highly recommend a tour for your first visit. You can spend (waste) a lot of your valuable and limited time just figuring out how to get from point A to point B, and once you're there how to buy tickets, which line to stand in, etc etc. Athens is a HUGE city and the ships dock quite a bit distant. We did a private full day tour that toured Athens and the Poseidon Temple (miles away). It was a fantastic way to see the city for a first timer. Our second time we did on our own, having gained familiarity from our previous tour. Good luck!

  3. If she had been released from the hospital, and then readmitted months later, that would likely NOT be a pre-existing condition, but without knowing specifics it's impossible to tell. I suggest you purchase insurance with waiver of pre-existing conditions. It costs moee, and you must usually purchase within a few days of paying your first cruise deposit. Some insurance companies waive pre-existing if you purchase within 14 days of booking the cruise. Good luck.

  4. I would want to be in Singapore the night before sailing. Your same day window is tight and, as noted, doesn't allow for any sort of delay. My understanding of US law entitles you to full refund airline cancels a flight. Although it's an international flight your contract was entered into in USA and United is an American carrier, so you should be fine. Then buy those 2135 tickets. Good luck. Please keep us posted.
