In fairness, the Apple was served to her by a U.S. airline and it was sealed/wrapped by the airline. The intent of the U.S. Customs rule is to avoid smugling agricultural products from another country due to risk of disease, harmful bacteria, contaminants, etc. I can understand her thinking that since she did not acquire the apple in a foreign country that it need not be declared. Maybe Delta actually loaded the apples onto the plane in the U.S.? In any event, she did not bring it from another country. I think she has a strong legal argument.

What do you need for a CPAP machine besides an electric outlet? I'm not being a wiseguy. This is a serious question. Thanks.

When does the ship set sail? If 5 pm you'll have plenty of time. Don't worry. Be happy.

While you certainly CAN do Athens on your own, I highly recommend a tour for your first visit. You can spend (waste) a lot of your valuable and limited time just figuring out how to get from point A to point B, and once you're there how to buy tickets, which line to stand in, etc etc. Athens is a HUGE city and the ships dock quite a bit distant. We did a private full day tour that toured Athens and the Poseidon Temple (miles away). It was a fantastic way to see the city for a first timer. Our second time we did on our own, having gained familiarity from our previous tour. Good luck!

If she had been released from the hospital, and then readmitted months later, that would likely NOT be a pre-existing condition, but without knowing specifics it's impossible to tell. I suggest you purchase insurance with waiver of pre-existing conditions. It costs moee, and you must usually purchase within a few days of paying your first cruise deposit. Some insurance companies waive pre-existing if you purchase within 14 days of booking the cruise. Good luck.

Yes. Absolutely. I had the exact same circumstances. I had to cancel when my mother was admitted to hospital a week before our cruise. As long as a Doctor certifies a serious condition you should be covered.

$4,000 is still too high. I went on Insuremytrip and ran a few hypothetical cruises to Canada for 87 year olds. Insurance quotes ranged from $539 to about $1,200 pp.

I can't imagine a travel insurance policy to the Carribean would cost $4,000. Are there an awfully lot of people in the group, or perhaps you are basing your quote on the wrong amount of coverage needed (ie, reimbursable value of your trip)?

I've not done it, nor would I because we have a lot of classic car events here. I'd prefer to spend my time absorbing local scenery and culture. But that's just me.

None of us know what was actually said. All we know is what the OP told us was said.

No offense to the OP, but before concluding NCL was rude I'd have to listen to the actual message. Our own filters and interpretations can influence how we perceive messaging, and the story we tell others.

Many people don't understand travel insurance as its a bit complicated. I advise you to research various policy terms b4 purchasing.

You should call your cruise line for their shuttle policy. That's the most reliable, and up to date, source for that information.

I rode the public bus. It was scary and crowded with standees jamming the aisle.

What's a pajama and what isn't? Hard to tell anymore. Lots of people wear flannel pants everywhere...ship, plane. Etc. As long as nothing inappropriate is showing you can wear them all day long.

I think there are water and ice tea dispensers available 24/7. Not sure about lemonade but I doubt it.

The concern with those saying "it's enough time" is that no allowance is made for unexpected delay, etc. It might be enough time in an ideal world, if everything goes perfectly, but who lives in THAT world?

I would want to be in Singapore the night before sailing. Your same day window is tight and, as noted, doesn't allow for any sort of delay. My understanding of US law entitles you to full refund airline cancels a flight. Although it's an international flight your contract was entered into in USA and United is an American carrier, so you should be fine. Then buy those 2135 tickets. Good luck. Please keep us posted.

I don't drink enough drinks in a day to make those packages valuable to me. Not knocking those that do, but I travel with our daughter and have to limit intake. Some of those specials and packages are limited to "bottom shelf" brands, aren't they?

Gratuities, how to pre pay?
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
Just put aside the money on your own. That way you can tip at the end of your cruise based on the level of service you actually experienced. While unlikely, you might be disappointed in service and want to deviate from the suggested tip amounts. You lose that flexibility if you prepay.
