I second the recommendation to park at the port in Jacksonville. Your steps from the terminal and lots of porters around to help with luggage.

Pirate museum was pretty cool. Kid was bored but I really enjoyed it.

Few quick questions for our upcoming cruise out of Charleston:
Parking for the week at the Hilton Garden Inn just across the bridge and taking Uber to the Port/Back.
Does Uber dropoff in the normal car line, and just get to skip the line and head to the Luggage tent or do they dropoff where the Taxis/Buses do?
I'm assuming it easier to walk out the gate and get picked up on the street a block or so away from the port on the return trip?
Any other hints or suggestions would be appreciated.

If your speaking of the location in FLL, it’s a recently renovated, good breakfast, and restaurants within walking distance. No reason not to book.
-
Park at the port. You’re a couple hundred yards away from the ship and it’s extremely easy in and out.

Definitely 10:00 am vs. 3-5 pm. I travel to Jacksonville on business regularly and the rush hour traffic am and pm can be rough.

Used Lyft plus from Fll to hotel on Seabreeze last month was around $12.00. Used Luft plus to the port and was around $18. Uber Xl back to the airport was $20.00. We need the larger vehicles due to luggage.
Zero issues with either Uber or Lyft in Ft. Lauderdale.

We use National and have been very happy with their free shuttle. Very quick from the time we drop off the car at the airport in Ft. Lauderdale to the time the shuttle arrives at Port Everglades. Same thing driving to Miami from FLL. Their shuttle from MIA to POM is very timely, even though it's further away from the port than in Ft. L.
Free car rental shuttles no longer run from FLL to the port. All the rental companies opened branches near the port and most shuttle from there.

I filed my claim with Narionwide last week for our itinerary change on the Harmony two weeks ago. We had to provide final folio or card to prove we took the cruise. Aka file after you get back from the cruise. Our coverage paid $750 per person, so I expect a check for $1500 within the next two weeks.

Stayed two Fridays ago before our cruise. Excellent location, newly remodeled rooms, excellent breakfast. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Beat Western was great. Recent renovation was excellent. Good location, great breakfast, easy walk to the beach. I'd definitely stay there again.

Stayed at the Beat Western just down the street last Friday. There was heavy equipment on the beach pushing sand back to the beach and lots of debris. I would think by mid-Oct it's going to be in much better shape.

Really? Have you seen San Juan and St. Thomas lately?
Sure haven't. Never been to either place.

That's a horrible downgrade in my opinion.

I called the Best Western Plus Oceanside Inn yesterday to confirm my booking for next Friday and they were open with minimal damage.

I have some friends that sail Harmony on September 23rd and I believe they said they won't be going to St. Thomas.
I'm on this same cruise. No official word yet, but with the destruction shown in the surrounding islands I see no way that St. Thomas could receive cruise passengers after only two weeks.
-
I'm scheduled to port in St. Thomas, San Juan, and Labadee in two weeks. I wish we'd get some clarity on the damage so I can cancel and work on planning something else. I know these islands depend on tourism money for everything, but I hope the cruise lines give their employees and residents time to attempt to put their lives back together before thousands of tourists arrive again.

As long as we are still going to be at sea on Day 2, I won't be too upset if our itinerary changes. Just slightly sad because I was hoping to have a private Cabana on Barefoot Beach the day after the wedding in Haiti. Do you have excursions booked?

Yep in all 3 ports. Luckily they the ship so will get refunded if itinerary changes.

On this sailing as well and I'm betting on a complete itinerary change due to the damage being suffered in our ports of call.

Stay, Park, and cruise hotels around Jacksonville?
in Florida Departures

Very few hotels around the terminal. We stay up by the airport and park at the terminal. Easiest in and out of any terminal I’ve ever used.
