The zoo is just down the street from the port.

I've read several places that the port location for Alamo is an absolute mad house on ship turn around days. I was considering renting at FLL and returning to the port location before boarding the ship, but based on the info. above I'm sticking with FLL for pickup and return.

I saw on the carnival web site that I can pre order parking for the Jacksonville port. Has any one done this and are you emailed a copy of the parking pass? Or do you just purchase when you get there?
The pre-pay parking is front row in Jacksonville, however the parking lot is directly beside the terminal. Prepay isn't necessary unless you just want to do it.

Which out you suggest?
BW Plus - Can get free room with expiring points, but would have to Uber there and out to dinner night before
Hyatt Place - $109.00 Value Trip Rate, $2.00 shuttle and could walk to Gilberts or Outback for dinner
Which would you choose?

Leaving in a few weeks on a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. We're staying at the Best Western Plus Oceanside on Seabreeze Avenue on the night before (will be a Saturday night). We'd like to have a nice meal that night to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We won't have a car, but plan to Uber/Lyft where we need to go.
We both are meat and potato eaters so we'd prefer a good steak. Any recommendations in the area or a reasonable car ride away? It doesn't have to be formal, just a good atmosphere and enjoyable meal.

Uber pickup at the airport is on level 1 where baggage claim is located. You head out to the commercial vehicle pickup area. I think for Terminal 4 the pickup is in the corner between Terminal 3 & 4.

You can't find easier port parking than Jacksonville. You pull in, park, there are usually porters in the parking lot to take your bags, and the parking lot is literally a couple hundred yards away from the terminal building. We were parked and in the security line in under 10 minutes.

I've returned a rental at the Eller Drive location and it was a mad house on that day. It might be different on other days, but in February we almost had to fight to get a spot on the shuttle.
I will be renting from Alamo again in October and I chose the airport location so I can just take a taxi and start my cruise vacation stress-free.
Thanks that's what I was afraid of. We'll just stick with Fll return and the taxi. It will be $15-$20 well spent I think.

We're currently booked to return our rental to FLL and then taxi to the Port. I've read there is a location on Eller Drive that we could return the car to and take the free Alamo shuttle to the Port. Is that location extremely busy on turnaround days? I want a stress free return of the car and ride to the ship, and don't want to be in a cluster on boarding day.

We have booked the Best Western Oceanside Inn for our upcoming cruise in December. Have not actually stayed there before but it gets very good reviews. It's very close to the beach without being beachfront and has breakfast included. No shuttles though.
We're booked here as well for our Sept. cruise. All reviews I've seen have been positive and I had some expiring airline points I used to book the room so finger crossed.

If I remember from two years ago it was around 1 hour from the port to open water. I would suggest going to the highest deck of the ship when you go under the bridge, because the ship doesn't clear by a huge amount.

SAS or QLS Shuttle Services - around $15.00 per person
-
Taxi - $13 - $15
Hotel Shuttle $7 or $8 I can't remember
Uber - around $6 - $8
We're staying in Sept. again and will use Uber no questions. Much cheaper and can leave when you want vs. waiting on shuttle.

Hyatt Place 17th street is our favorite. It's next door to the Embassy Suites. Shopping area next door and short uber ride to other Ft. Lauderdale sites. Book thru value trips for the best rate.

Just checked and booking direct is more for my date, but I still haven't heard back from ValueTrips... how long does it usually take to know if your request went through? Is there someone I can contact to check the status? I'd like to know if my date is available thru them, because if not, I need to book one of my backups before they fill up.
I booked last Tuesday at the Hyatt thru ValueTrips for my pre-cruise night in Sept. I still haven't head anything back from them regarding confirmation. I think the only way to see if it was booked is to call the hotel and ask for a confirmation.

I will be staying at Hyatt on 17th Street. My two grandchildren ages 1 and 3 will be with me. Any recommendations for child friendly restaurant we can walk?
There is an Outback Steakhouse one building away from the Hyatt. We walked thru the parking lot of the building between to Outback. A minute or two and your there.

First time Royal Caribbean cruiser and had a quick soda package question. We've got a Boardwalk Balcony cabin booked so we get the free soda package. I know the tumblers are chipped for the Coke Freestyle Machines, but how does it work going up to a bar for a soda. Does our sea card print with a package indicator on it or do we need to go "somewhere" to get a sticker on the card as we have did on Carnival in the past?
Thanks in advance for the info!

We enjoyed Junkanoo Beach club on Tiano Beach. Couple bucks to get in, couple dollars to rent chairs, but bathrooms are clean and acceptable. Kids enjoyed playing in the surf and there were jet skis, banana boat, etc... down the beach if you can handle the prices

We went in March this year and if I remember correctly the CD (which is simply a CD of pictures burnt on a PC) was $50.00. They basically rip you a new one, but if you want pics that's your only option.

The wife and I did a ship sponsored dune buggy tour a few years back. Not sure if its the same company, but was my favorite excursion we've ever taken. One word of warning you come back dirty and I mean jump in the show and the water is brown dirty.
-
We got .09 per refill charge out of Jacksonville last month until we hit the open ocean.
-
Only 5 ships last week, but our excursion got back about 4:30 and the line to get back thru the customs house was out to the gate you come into from the street. We waited 20+minutes just to get access to the pier and then had to speed walk it back to the ship.

On this sailing as well and with the damage being sustained I fear all 3 stops will not be able to handle the ship. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm betting on a complete itinerary change.
