  1. My first cruise for our family is coming get up...Thanksgiving week on the Miracle, and I'm trying to budget and plan for expenses that I may not be aware of (or even optional, but decide I want when I'm on the ship). I've prepaid tips already. Here are some of the items I'm thinking...what am I missing?

Hotel w/cruise park n stay for the night before

    Porter tip/luggage $10- $20

Case of water for room $5

    Steakhouse for 1 night - $100

Room service if we ever want to order

Drinks (still deciding whether to Cheers or not)

    Bubbles package for the kids

Off shore excursions (if we decide)

Casino...thinking $100 per day at most...we go to Vegas frequently so casino not a priority

Bingo - how much is bingo usually? Do I bring my own dauber?

Arcade for kids - is the arcade free, or cost typical to a usual arcade?

Any unexpected expenses with the kids programs?

Souvenir for kids - $20 each

What other potential expenses? I'm expecting a few "little" expenses, which I know will add up, but I have no idea what they would be...so I'm trying to plan for those. Depending on the added expenses, I may be at the point of choosing between Cheers and an excursion - La Caletas or Rhythm of the Night...not sure if I can swing both.

What other items were you charged for or spent money on...and how much were they?

Arcade is NOT free :( Just put a limit on the kids sail and sign card each day.

Bingo is not cheap but fun :)

I always get $100 in singles and $200 in fives before a cruise for the unexpected tips and things... Have FUN! :D

  2. lol yup that's it. it just killed this thread for me too, i can't see past your last post kcpumkin. you have a deadly signature lol. at least i know what does it now.

I think I may just create a new profile... Sorry Gang :(

  3. while i think they oughta figure out how whatever you did in your signature causes this problem, why not just delete it? and maybe copy / paste to a text document for future reference.

i'm glad that now there is an explanation though. i started noticing it shortly after a chrome upgrade, and while that made no sense to me, the timing was coincidental enough i wondered.

    .

The problem is the box doesn't even show up anymore to remove it as it once did

  4. When it happens to me, your post is the last one I see in a particular thread. And what's really weird is that for the first time in over a week, I can see beyond your post in this thread. Yet I can't see beyond your post in the insurance thread.

When I post I learned to uncheck the box "show your signature".

When I made that thread I forgot to uncheck it... ;)

  5. I have been trying to read the posts on OK Insurance Strategy, but all I can see is the original post, no subsequents posts. It appears that 13 people have responded, and more than 1,000 have viewed this thread.

Any idea whatis going on? Am I the only one who can't scroll down and see what else is there?

I posted that thread and it probably has to do with my signature... I contacted cruise critic and let them know that I can't even edit my signature since I tried to post a cruise clock on it. Code is probably messed up but they never responded...

  6. Leave it to someone to turn an innocent insurance question negative. You PAY for a travel insurance policy. A situation arises that ALLOWS you to use the policy and you should feel guilty using it? A cruise line is giving you different OPTIONS and you must compare those OPTIONS with what your policy PROVIDES. So lighten up

  7. If the cruise line cancels your cruise, you should receive a full refund. Same for cruise interruption.

Hopefully you're not talking about getting a refund from the cruise line and the insurance company. I believe they call that insurance fraud.

No, not double dipping... A policy is more complex than that

  8. To any insurance guru that has an opinion!

The scenario is that you have Travel Insurance (not a Carnival Policy but a decent one) and the cruise company has canceled/interrupted your cruise. You have "cancel for any reason" and "trip interruption" coverage. What would be the best strategy to maximize your policy. Do you take the refund from the cruise or do you cancel through the policy holder and so on. Yes, many variables are into play; but those whom have had travel insurance know the basics of the majority of policies available... Put your thinking caps on ?

  9. trip cancellation and medical insurance are two different products. You can buy medical coverage without trip cancellation insurance.

Very True! I think passengers know what's best for themselves. I have medical problems that may cause problems before, during or after my cruise. I choose not to risk it. This issue comes up so much on this board and their is never a winner or loser. It is a choice by the individual :)
