7. Be prepared to be wow'd by the service. Be prepared to relax and enjoy!

Il Palazzetto is part of the Hotel Hassler and the Wine Academy - they have a few rooms located directly on the Spanish Steps. The rooms are gorgeous and less expensive than the rooms at the Hassler, but you have access to all the hotel amenities!
-
There are also port lectures, Trivia, cooking demos and on longer cruises, Galley Market Lunch, which is not to be missed!

You will see several posts comparing the two lines if you do a search - just for fun, I pulled up my old post regarding the food on Seabourn vs. SilverSea -
Echoing everyone else on this thread -- SB food was far superior to the food on SS. We did enjoy La Terrazza at night on SS -- the Captain was Italian so I think they make a special effort to have excellent Italian food. However, the service on SS didn't come close to SB -- no one even made an effort to call us by name, even though our names were clearly right next to our suite number for all reservations! And we had a major beef with having to wait on line to shake the Captain's hand at the Welcome and Farewell receptions. Honestly, we didn't really care to shake his hand - just wanted to sit and have some champagne, but you couldn't get into the Venetian Room without going through this receiving line. We actually walked off the line after waiting 15 minutes at the Farewell reception and just went back the Bar for our champagne. SS made us feel like the Captain was the most important person on the ship -- SB makes us feel like WE are the most important. No more SS for us -- just booked SB Amazon River cruise in March 2013 -- can't wait!

My guess is that Seabourn knows they already have our loyalty, and are looking to turn newbies into loyal Seabourn-ites as well. I'll let you know if we get offered a free upgrade on our 3rd Seabourn cruise next year.

If you have 3 days before your cruise, I would spend it in Quebec City rather than Montreal - it is a couple of hours drive north but a beautiful walled city - Paris of the North America!

Just to clarify, there are 5 sea days on this cruise - June 14, June 17, June 21 -22, and June 26, and it's a 14 day cruise. I don't want my DH to see 50% sea days as he might divorce me! 😃

I am booked on that cruise and am counting the days! We will enjoy the views, spa, lectures, Galley Market lunch, etc. on sea days. I'm 51 and very active but love the true down time of a sea day!

I couldn't agree more about your comparison of Seabourn and SS! We wanted to try SS and were very disappointed in the service. I must say the Italian restaurant on SS was excellent, but other than that, Seabourn out ranked SS at every turn. We will not cruise SS again, but are looking forward to a 2 week Norway cruise on Seabourn in June 2015! Thanks for taking the time to write your review and get us all excited about our next Seabourn cruise!

When we were on our Amazon cruise, the Galley Market lunch featured tiny soft shell crabs - I've never seen them this small. Does anyone know if Seabourn will do a special request for these crabs or were we just really lucky?
