  1. be watchful of the tide! it got soooooo shallow when we were out, we had trouble getting back to the shore! they dont want you touching the seagrass and coral.

it was good snorkelling...we saw turtles, stingrays, various fish.

tip: wear the lifebelt!!!!! we had a man die on our excursion. not 100% sure of the details....but he had been drinking, was not a strong swimmer and did not wear his belt. it was very sad:(

also watch out for bugs! not sure if mine were from in the water or out...but a few days after we got home I was covered in bites that were itchy as heck!!!

  2. have been on both and honestly...BOTH are fantastic ships!! good food, clean, great staff! entertainment is always subjective...although I LOVED how the NCL staff danced on the pier in St Thomas (as everyone was coming back). seeing Sinan in a crazy wig dancing...great memories!!

I loved the spa on both ships.

I love that NCL has the Blue Lagoon for 24 hour food.

decor?? who cares?? IMO both ships were tasteful and inviting!

Pools/hot tubs-both ships were clean and busy. NCL is warmer though!!

layout-we had no issues with splendor! maybe because we read CC beforehand and we were prepared!

dont stress...both are great and nomatter which you pick you will have a great time!!

  3. we always open our accounts in cash. we prepay our tips before the cruise. kids bring whatever they have saved up, and generally we divide it up into 2 batches....an initial deposit and then more can be added if/when needed. works well for us!! we also go over with the kids what they *might* find onboard to spend their money on! there are always surprises, but generally they want some for arcade, some for smoothies, some for a souvenir. hth!

  4. I dont understand all the complaining about this? As with everything else, if it works for you then get it...if not, then dont! lol

For us, it will be a HUGE amount of savings as we prefer the specialty restaurants and the price for the package cant be beat.

  5. i'm taking my first solo trip this coming Sept. I cant wait!!! I LOVE my alone time....so for me this is perfect!!

I'm ok with a small cabin...not there much anyway.

Dining is not an issue...I dont mind eating alone.

I will be getting off and exploring Bermuda...Cant wait!!

  6. Our cruise is affected by this dry dock. it is scheduled for 11/9/2014 in Bahamas. Not sure what they will be doing to it.

Our cruise was changed from a 9 day to an 11 day, added a sea day and St. Kitts, changed San Juan from 3-9pm to 8-6pm, gave us a $75 OBC and didn't change our price or charge for St. Kitts port fees. All we had to do was rebook our rooms and that was even a plus because we now have adjoining rooms!! Big + for us!!! :D

nice! I had a cruise booked with carnival, and without contacting me at all...they cancelled it and revamped the itinerary. I only found out from my visa bill! I would have loved for them to have done something good like they for you!

shame on carnival for not even letting us know! lol

oh well, worked out better for us as we got a better deal with NCL on a better ship:)

  7. WE LOVED OUR CRUISE!!!!

We had FTTF...well worth it!! this helped us to have a pleasant embarkation/debarkation process. we used separate line at guest services which saved a lot of time.

Cabin (balcony deck 6 mid ship)-clean, spacious, good location.

Staff- AMAZING!! always met with a smile, good morning etc... Our anytime dining staff (Leslie and crew) were fantastic and we miss them terribly:(

Food- excellent! we did not get gourmet, nor did we expect that. But food was cold or hot as it should be, very flavorful, good variety of choices. we *loved* the shows in the dining room! added a little extra "something" for us.

Steakhouse- incredible! what a meal! we went first night and got the free wine which was ok. but the food...omg!! well worth the price.

activities-we always found something to do!! the shows were great, casino was good to my hubby and although my kids chose to stay away from carnival camp...the other kids looked to be having fun.

Spa- sigh. sadly I have been unable to find a magic elevator in my house to take me back to deck 11. I loved the spa!! I had the weekly pass and made good use of it! the staff were excellent and the facilities were well kept.

Behind the Fun- I enjoyed this tour! despite nobody telling me I would need a sweater/jacket (we went out to the front of the ship and it was COLD!!)...it was a good tour, very informative. I was disappointed to not see crew cabins. they showed us pictures?? a steakhouse lunch at the end would have been more fitting than just a glass of champagne.

    Ports-

Port Canaveral: we went to Cocoa Beach and my daughter took surfing lessons! what a great day!!

Nassau: we stayed on the ship. too expensive and too crowded.

Freeport: we booked privately and went to Deadmans Reef (Paradise Cove). the snorkelling was just ok. we've seen better. we did see a stingray and sea turtle though. just not as colorful as we were expecting. A man died on the beach this day. it was very sad. apparently had no floatation device on.

I managed to find my way into the Senor Frogs on our way back to the ship:) FUN TIMES:)

Ship- we didnt mind the decor. in fact the kids loved the "pink donuts"! the holiday decorations were a nice touch as well. we figured out the layout within a day. our cabin was great location for us for everything. Everything was clean, in good condition. They were even replacing carpeting in the hallways!

Pools- COLD! lol never got to try the waterslide, but others seemed to be enjoying it. the hottubs were nice...not as hot as expected though. overall they were clean and useable though!

Photos- turned out gorgeous...too bad they are so darn expensive! Carnival should really think about offering packages!!

Fellow passengers- honestly...no complaints. we interacted with several people and everyone was pleasant, polite and we had no issues with line jumping. I didnt really notice chair hogs...but I was too busy enjoying myself to care, lol.

We truly enjoyed our time on the Splendor and we are having serious withdrawals!! lol We have booked the Pride for March 2015 and i'm thinking about the Victory for November.

I never thought I would cruise on Carnival...ever....but the pricing was too good to pass up. We are so glad we gave them a chance and we cant wait until our next sailing!!!
