  1. Yes and No, you have to have an entry card for the terrace that passes by the cabins, from coming from the front. We had a cabin in Havana Club (5210) and the doors at the entry to the Havana cabin area require a separate key card to open. However coming from the Havana pool area you can walk by the cabins. I never noticed anyone coming from the pool to the cabins however. Strange set up. You will get a Havana Club bracelet, and staff does watch for them. No worries I would say.

Thank you so much for that info - I'm getting closer to the answers I'm looking for. We will be in Cabin 5210 on January 8, 2017 (so excited). Could I just ask a couple of questions, please?

If you are coming from the Plaza area, do you have to walk out to the pool area and around to the cabin? Or is there a "short cut?"

Is the sliding door only lockable from the inside or can a keycard be used from the outside?

    Thanks again.

  2. Just off Pride cruise of July 24th. We are Platinum (and DH is handicapped).

When we cruised out of Baltimore in January, Diamond/Platinum were off to the side, nothing special, but they did call us up fairly quickly.

July 24th we were in a back hallway lined with folding chairs. It was okay until they called for the wedding parties -- half the people stood up (no they weren't part of those groups). Port employees then called for Diamond/Platinum by rows -- people were jumping over chairs to change rows, knocking chairs into the aisles, etc.

Perhaps I was just hot, tired, and hoping for so much more (it was 103 degrees on the way into Baltimore that day). I'm sure the next embarkation will be much better. :)

  3. I believe we were on the same B2B with you. I went down to the Butterfly Lounge because my DH uses a walker and it was just too far. We knew about the policy ahead of time, but he purchased 2 bottles from ship's store and one bottle at a port. It's always enjoyable to find something as a gift that people may have never seen before. When I returned to the cabin, I told him "NEVER, NEVER buy liquor again." That was not worth the hassle. We were driving to port, so my sympathies were definitely with people that had to worry about getting the bottles into checked luggage at the airport. Traveling is hard enough without extra stress being added to the mix.

Will we cruise Carnival again? - Yes

Will we buy liquor again? - NEVER, NEVER EVER AGAIN

  4. Lucky enough to have rated a free cruise from our last sailing. But now I'm sitting here in the snow and my brain is doing nothing but thinking of cruises.

Let me ask you all this --

We just did a B2B on the Pride. At the completion of the first cruise, I asked about perks for the second cruise and was told Players Club considers the B2B as "one" cruise. Okay, I accept that. If for my free cruise I booked a B2B, would they consider that as "one" free cruise????

I'm just curious if anybody has ever asked.

  5. Thanks so much for starting this conversation, I'm sure there are a number of us that were on the cruise that will jump in and contribute.

I was amazed that we also received the free cruise offer on the last night. I've been waiting for that for what seems like years. Now I'm disappointed because I have to book by 2/21 and cruise has to be before August. After 21 days and finally paying the bill, we're not ready for a cruise that soon (free or not).

So I'll just sit here in the snowbanks and dream of the time we were in sunshine. Hey, did you notice how cold it was when they were doing the ice carving?

  6. Hi, Jane

Thank you so much for a great review. For me it was like "deja vu" of our June cruise for Rest and Relaxation. It was a doctor approved form of therapy for my husband who had a stroke. We had the cabin directly above you on Deck 8 for our cruise. I can remember my husband practicing his walking (with walker) on the "bowling alley" balcony.

He's doing well and has made such a great recovery that we are leaving in 18 days for our cruise of a lifetime, B2B on Pride, 21 days on two Journeys cruises.

It would be great to meet you one day, perhaps on another of your cruises. Stay healthy and don't let the Winter get you down. :D

  7. For months, I have been complaining that the first cruise of our back2back never shows in Manage My Cruise. No matter how many times i try to enter it, the next time I look its gone. Our PVP tried to help us and then gave us a number to call. After a number of calls, the ultimate response translated to "Oh, well." Doesn't sound like a big problem, but it makes trying to make a payment difficult and trying to look at/book excursions hard.

Wonder how much the IT people get paid?

  8. I was looking at your Funtimes copies and I don't see where the brunch and breakfast times are  Am I missing them or not looking in the right place?

I was wondering how long they serve breakfast in the dining room on port days. Would you know?

    PS Enjoyed your review! :)

I never thought about that when I was scanning them. At the moment, it just seemed like something you'd only need on the ship to stick in your pocket but now it makes sense that it could be useful here.

I've scanned the pull out section of the Fun Times with the hours of operation (I didn't copy the flip side). Hopefully you'll find the info that you're looking for. Each one is marked with the day and port/sea.

Go back into the web address I gave and you'll see its been added.

    Thanks for reading! ;)

    Peg

  9. Thank you so much! I am so happy that you and John were able to cruise. I hope you both had a wonderful time and hope that is recovery is going well!!

Thanks so much, Barb & Jeff, for your kind comments. We had a great time on one of our favorite class (Spirit class) ships.

Before our cruise, we had a very close friend send us copies of the FunTimes from the Pride. That's part of the fun of planning for the trip -- to read all the happenings for each day. To me that's almost as important as excursions.

  10. Have been waiting for this since I watched you sail out on the webcam on Easter Sunday! :D Only thing better than this review was if we had sailed with you, Patti and Ryan. SOMEDAY! ;) One question since we are driving to Baltimore on 5/9 for our 5/10 cruise: what is the Maryland House?

When we sailed out of Port Canaveral, we had someone take screen shots of us pulling out. They were so great to see later, I even found us on the deck waving away like two crazy people.

This will be our first time out of Baltimore and I couldn't find a port camera. I was so disappointed....is there a camera? Where did you find it???

P.S. Maryland House is synonymous with "bathroom after a very long bridge (heaven forbid you have a traffic jam) and possibly a nibble if you need it.

  11. Let's try this again and use the right fingers this time - Sigh!! :o

Absolutely love all the comments and the reviews. We have been on ships with 2.0, but never on the Pride. First Pride trip is coming up the end of May and it's getting harder and harder to wait that long.

2.0 "things" are great and add so much to the fun. Our favorite spot besides the Serenity is the Alchemy Bar - it's our last stop of the day for that "one more for the road" drink. We're still working on going through the complete apothacary menu!!! :D

  12. Wrote to Michael Bayona about casino perks for our upcoming cruise. I got two surprises - it's now called Global Casino Services and we can forget about perks!! In the past, the lowest amount we've ever received was $25. Our casino spending is fairly consistent on each cruise and our last cruise was in September. Such is life - I guess I'll go to Vegas or else save my casino money for casinos that are in each port.

Thank you for contacting Global Casino Services!

Unfortunately, you do not qualify for any pre-boarding comps on this cruise. Please ensure you check-in with the casino host once on board as they will provide you with on-board comps based on your level of play.

We look forward to welcoming you on board.

  13. Jamman54, we will also be doing the Pride in May so I agree with Jamscckmc -- can't wait for your review. Legend has been a favorite of ours, so when the Pride comes back to Baltimore, it will be a "must do."

Also dreaming, planning and saving for the cruise of my dreams next January. Back-2-Back on Pride for 21 days!!!!!

  14. It would appear your concerns start in Atlanta, but in reality you should be nervous starting with Buffalo. We usually fly out of Syracuse or Rochester, but have done Buffalo on occasion. February is a touchy time of year around here, so bad I think Santa gets lost on his way home and thinks Syracuse is the North Pole.

But as others have said, if you can change it to the day before, all the better. If not, you still have guarantees that will get you onto the ship that day or at the worst, fly you to the first port. Not an ideal solution, but not a totally wasted vacation either.

P.S. Maybe they'll throw in some OBC?? or a basket of fruit????

  15. When I was searching for images on Google (for Curacao), I found one guide map. It doesn't have all the shops but it does show you some areas on both sides of the bridge.

If you look at the blog below, it will be page 3 on the "11th Cruise." Hope it helps even if just pointing you in the right direction.

  16. What an absolutely great thread, to read and read and then read again -- so many wonderful ideas. I especially like the couple who do the journals of their travels. I like the DVD idea, I like the scrapbooking, and all the others - such creative people.

We have done a blog online that we work on after each cruise. Each night during the cruise we compare notes and share things that happened that day. Once we're home, we begin working on the story of our travels. Having the photos, maps, and such help us to feel that special "I'm on a CRUISE" feeling. Although my husband can look at the website, he insists that we create a printed booklet and he keeps them by his chair. Whatever makes him happy in this dreary snow covered land we call Central New York.:(

    Happy cruising everyone.

  17. Hi, Mike. I hope you peek in here every now and then because I have a question for you.

Next January, we are scheduled for a B2B out of Baltimore on the Pride (21...count them...21 days!!!!) I've just been going over some of your previous posts and looking at the photos of the Port of Baltimore. You were not able to do the review for the next cruise and I can appreciate how much work is involved. I am so curious about the ports you visited -- do you have anywhere public where a person could see the photos?

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my ramblings.:)

  18. The walk from the main cruise pier to the CG station is about 3000 feet on level terrain, so, hopefully, your husband should be able to walk it. Unless you have a military sticker, you are no longer allowed on base with a vehicle to keep folks from parking for free and touring Old San Juan. There is a small shoppette with a great variety of booze if interested.

    Enjoy your cruise.

    Z and TB

Thanks so much, Zqueeze1, that info is very helpful. Like your suggest about the booze!!!!:p:p
