  1. Whatever you decide to do please fill in your Seabourn questionaire when you return home.  Its really important to praise those crew members who have gone the extra mile.  I always write down their names and the reasons why I think they are so special so I don't forget.

I have lost count of the number of times a favourite crew member has thanked me for comments I made on a previous cruise, and have been promoted with the help of positive feedback.  I'm sure this is more important than a few extra dollars on departure.

  2. Please don’t judge everyone who is reading a printed newspaper as “a poacher”. It is one of the benefits of a diamond club member to receive a copy of their preferred newspaper daily. Just sayin.... if you want to check, sneak a peek at their newspaper. It will have their name and suite number printed at the top.

  3. Hi there, We stayed in this suite for 32 nights last year and had no noise issues. Its not above the bridge but on the same level. There is little passing traffic apart from officers coming and going, who were always very courteous and considerate.

There was no noise from the anchor as we were too high up to be affected. Maybe the only down side was that you could be seen on the veranda by the crew when they went out onto the overhang of the bridge. We would always wave back. There is also no bathtub, but a huge walk in/sit in shower. hope this helps.

  4. If you make it clear you are willing to pay for an upgrade, they may accommodate you if there is an available cabin. I feel sorry for the staff who get inundated with requests and excuses for complimentary upgrades. If you are willing to pay, give it a try and good luck, I hope it works out. If not, you may be pleasantly surprised, the inside cabin may not be as bad as you feared. Try closing the curtains, it's all the same in the dark, and you may enjoy spending the money you would have spent on something nice!!

  5. Whenever I book a seabourn cruise I ask my travel agent for a cruise only price and a flight/transfer package, then I can do my research and make an informed decision. Sometimes the seabourn air package includes a pre voyage hotel and private transfers which is great value. If I am travelling independently I find out which flight Seabourn will be using and book myself on that for that little bit of extra security.

  6. On a recent 25 day cruise on the Quest, we had no prior reservations for the TK Grill. On embarkation day the Grill was accepting 2 bookings per suite for the duration. We managed to arrange another later in the cruise. So, all in all, we dined there 3 times in 25 days. Each time was super. We loved it.

  7. We just got on the tender, then took the shuttle to the resort. It was quick and we found it a lovely way to spend a few hours. The resort was right on a lovely sandy beach. there were Seabourn crew there with the complimentary towels, sun cream etc, but they were not allowed to serve drinks. you could purchase soft drinks, but when we went there was no alcohol allowed as there was a religious festival I believe. The beach was great, long and sandy and the water warm and safe for swimming. I would definitely go again. The shuttle to the resort was free.

  8. Another vote for the Sofitel. If you are flying in or out of Terminal 5, there is a covered walkway. It will only take 2 minutes, and there are luggage trolleys at the reception area.

It's restaurants are good, service too, and it was so quiet. The best airport hotel I have ever stayed in.

  9. I agree with TV24, the laundry bag is great value, and I always use my club benefits for the free laundry bag per person per week. However, I think it is a mistake to do away with the laundry room. Laundry is a very personal thing and I can understand that some people would not wish someone else sorting their smalls!! Besides, I remember on my first Seabourn cruise doing some laundry, and chatting to a couple of ladies whilst we were washing, sorting, etc, and I complained how my husband was probably up on deck with a large cocktail in hand. One lady said," Right, two can play that game," and promptly ordered room service to bring us 3 glasses of champagne, and some caviar!! Priceless!!

  10. It means you will be guaranteed a suite with a balcony. You could be anywhere from a V1 upwards, although you are more likely to be given a V1 to V6. If you really don't mind where you are situated it's a good gamble and a good way to save money, but if you really want to be mid-ships for a possibly smoother ride, if the se becomes choppy, you may be wise to pay more and opt for a suite number. All A and V suites are the same size, just different locations, and the A suites have a large picture window instead of a balcony.

I hope I haven't confused you further. CurlyWurly.

  11. My husband loves a single malt and I love a brandy and in the past I have requested it on the form, and not received it. The stewardess has always provided it on request on embarkation day. It is not a problem so just ask.:
