  1. I really appreciate everyone on Cruise Critic, and I learn something new every time I read these boards.  I have been on several Princess Cruises and never knew about the magic email address for upgrades.

Thanks to you kind folks I sent an upgrade request to the magic email address.  I received a response within 30 minutes.  I was offered an upgrade for my upcoming cruise on the 26th from my larger balcony cabin to a Penthouse suite.  There was a cost of $799 per person but it was worth the price to us.  I never would have known!

Thank you  all for being such a wealth of knowledge for the rest of us!

    Happy Cruising!

    Check this thread out:

That's pretty much all they're talking about.

I appreciate the information, but I was looking to hear from specific cruisers, on a specific cruise line, going to a specific place.  I have been reading other boards, and they are as varied with information as they are with cruisers.

We took the rapid antigen test through CVS Minute Clinic, they took a picture of our insurance card. We didn’t pay anything at the time although it wouldn’t surprise me if they bill our insurance. We were called approx 40 minutes after the test with the result. It was also available on CVS My Chart. A text was also received with a link to a pdf which I printed and showed at check-in.

Thank you for the information.  I really appreciate the response.

  4. Bon Voyage! Happy Boarding Day!

I am sailing in September on this cruise.  Being a self-diagnosed over planner, over worrier, and over thinker, I was wondering if after you have successfully boarded today could post about your Covid Test?  Where & When did you go? How long did it take to get your results? What test was it, and how much did it cost?

I really need to get a grip on this before my cruise.

Thank you so much, and have a wonderful voyage.

We are booked on the Ruby departing Sept. 12th to Alaska.  I haven't heard anything yet from Princess.  I am being optimistic.  We will safely sail and enjoy every moment!

Well, so much for being optimistic!  Got the dreaded email yesterday.  Cruise is officially cancelled.  Sad day for sure!

  6. We used You First Limo from Galveston to IAH. I would highly recommended them. The driver stayed in constant contact with us from early morning until we finally disembarked 6 hours later due to a fog delay. Their price was also less than many others I called. We were picked up in a large SUV that was stocked with water and magazines. I would certainly use them again.

  7. We used you first limo for our 2/11 cruise out of Galveston. The rates were less than any other private transportation, but more importantly they waited in Galveston for us during the 6 hour fog delay. I had heard other shuttles left their fares waiting at the pier with no transportation. I don’t know if You First Limo has shared rides, but I HIGHLY recommend them.

  8. Just a quick note. After contacting American Airlines on Twitter concerning the ticket change fee we were charged, we were responded to quickly. American was very sympathetic to our situation and refunded our change fee promptly. Thank you American Airlines!

    Lesson learned.

Proggieus, we were on the same cruise. I contacted American Airlines when I returned and they graciously refunded our ticket change fees, I have also read on these boards that United airlines did the same. It might be worth a phone call. We are now only out the hotel stay. I was super lucky that the driver at You First Limo stayed around for the extra 6 hours at no additional cost. Still missed a day of work.

  10. Thanks for this I also was charged the $200CAD pp for this. After reading this I called and submitted a refund request and I'm getting the entire $400.00 back.

Congrats Canada Rob. Were you also flying United? I have reached out to American Airlines and am still waiting to hear back from them.

  11. We had fog in New Orleans also, but they were able to maneuver the ship up the river. Blowing the fog horn every 2-3 minutes, changing pilots often. It was so eerie. I did not particularly care for the river part of the cruise. But, I didn't particularly care for the way the port was handled yesterday either.

  12. yes we still had to pay the change fee, they wanted $200 per ticket, i pulled up their site and it said it should have been $75 since it was within 24 hour of departure and the new flight was within 24 hours of the request. had to get a supervisoer involved and he finally said they would do it for $100.00 per ticket, i agreed because i needed to get the flight changed, they called back 5 minutes later and said they would do the $75.

What airlines were you flying on?

  13. I agree the port and disembarkation was a mess. I spoke with a few people that we met at the Hotel we had to stay at in Houston because we had missed our flight. We were the lucky ones compared to the stories I heard. Our driver from You first limo stayed in the area for the 6 hours and was there to meet us when we finally got off the ship. I heard one couple say their ride had just cancelled their pick up. Another couple had missed their flight both ways. They were on the plane headed to Galveston when they closed the airport. The couple had to fly to Houston, stay 2 nights then flew to Roatan to catch the ship. They also missed their return flight for home. Another couple was telling us about a group that was trying desperately to make their flight, and when they got to the airport, they realized they had the wrong luggage! Can you imagine? They sent the driver back to the port to return the luggage. But, I guess they were going to fly home without their own luggage.

  14. Yeah that was a fun conversation with the airline when i had to try and explain their own change fee policies to them.

Got a flight out tomorrow morning. And a hotel for tonight.

It’s going to be a zoo to disembark:eek:

Did you still have to pay the change fee? I was told I needed to contact American Airlines to try and get a refund for the fee, and I was wondering if it was worth a try. (Please no flaming here, I know if I booked travel with RC, there would not be a fee, but I used my points for my flights)
