  1. Hi all,

We are cruising next month with a couple of different cabins. My immediate family is arriving ahead of time, staying near Port Everglades, and have an early check in time.

However, my oldest is staying in a room with my grandparents. He is assigned the earlier check in time, and has his own SetSail Pass. My grandparents will not be arriving to the port until several hours later.

Will they allow my son to check in with us, even if the adults in his room are not yet there?

    I'm leaving on Harmony today.

    To prepare,

ALL ON MY OWN... WITHOUT ANYONE SPOON-FEEDING ME,

I did my own research because I didn't want to be lazy.

Specifically answering your question:  Harmony of the Seas May 2022 was good on YouTube.

I viewed many YouTube reviews looked at some reviews on this board.

It wasn't hard to do and allowed me to decern for myself what I liked and didn't like.

Here's to being a self-starter and taking initiative!

Cool bro. I too have watched multiple YouTube videos and read reviews of the ship and venues here and elsewhere. I specifically was looking for live reviews on this site that people put much work into, as it is personally satisfying for me to read the dialogue of those following along. This site doesnt have a robust search function, so asking for some help from others. Thanks to the others who provided those links!

Hope you enjoyed your cruise and will look forward to reading your review as well.

  3. Taking our kids on their first cruise this weekend!  It’s crazy that it is finally happening after such a long wait.

Our boarding time is 12 pm in Fort Lauderdale. Any recent updates on how strictly they are enforcing boarding times?

With the first boarding time, hopefully the lines are not too long. How long is the wait after the PCR test is done before you get the results?  Are we able to board right after that if they are negative?

Any other tips for a smooth and early boarding?

  4. On our last Royal cruise, I remember the drinks menu being very limited at each individual bar. We are not creative with drinks, so just stuck to a few favorites.

Since we have the drinks package, we would like to be more adventurous. Has anyone made a full drink menu, or a checklist of things to try over the course of a week?  I have seen it on the NCL boards, but not over here so far.

I did just take a screenshot of the non-alcoholic ones as well!

  5. Public service announcement.

Royal accepts both PCR and Rapid (antigen test) for kids that need tested three days before the cruise.

Royal accepts telehealth/proctored home rapid test.

HOWEVER, this home test is only acceptable for vaccinated folks.

I don’t know who else needs to hear this, but I’m so glad I triple checked everything in enough time to schedule some rapid tests at the pharmacy for my kiddos!

  6. I just made it through this whole thread to prepare for our first haven experience. We are quite excited!

I know that the premium plus beverage package would get us the specialty coffees, but what about the haven restaurant or room service? Are there any lattes with flavoring included in these venues? And what about “boozy” coffees as she would describe them? We are unlikely to upgrade from the standard beverage package but are weighing our options.
    thanks in advance

  7. Hi all,

I have tried my best to search for trip reports on here (the good kinds—with pictures that make you really want to go.) I have come up short when it comes to New England and Bermuda cruises. We are specifically looking to book with NCL on either of these itineraries for next fall. We have only done Caribbean cruises so far, and I have a feeling these would be much different!  Please let me know if you have any links for good options. I’m looking forward to at least daydreaming!

  8. If cruise lines are going to block off some cabins to use for medical use as surge/ICU beds, they will likely set aside some of the Inside cabins nearest to the medical center, but not necessary just those. It is much more difficult to get medical equipments AND personnel into smaller cabins used for quarantine, isolation and ICU level of care.

What about crew quarters, depending on the specific/class of ship - some of them share cabins - whether it's double or triple occupancy.  Although, I would expect a reduction in overall # of crew.

I am sure some might've seen/read this article about where the first "trial" of shorter cruises are most likely to sail from (on CR - predicted to be either Asia or Europe) - and where "smaller" mid-sized ships might be preferred, JMHO.

It’s hard to imagine a dramatic increase in cleaning responsibilities, increased level of service at the buffet, etc. corresponding with a decrease in number of crew on board.

  9. You can also put that money aside and on the chance that things are looking better, the cruise sails, and flight prices are reasonable, you can rebook for less money!
I’m with you though. We have had to cancel our big Europe trip we had planned in May. I keep watching the boards hoping you guys will start seeing some price drops...

  10. Hi all,

I just got off the phone with NCL. We had to cancel a cruise we had reserved for the beginning of next year (work reasons, not COVID-19!). Just wanted to pass on a positive experience. I had no wait time to speak with a representative, and my cruise next certificates are being extended to Oct 2022 instead of expiring next year! Grateful that I had great service from a courteous rep, and will be much more likely to be booking with NCL (as soon as we can find a good deal).

  11. In Chops (lunch, 12:30 pm reservation), we each ordered a filet. Mine was MR and my wife’s was medium. The steak was 6/10, but the sides were really bad. We had the tots, the wedges, the asparagus, and the macaroni and cheese. We ate none of them. We found the MDR food to have much more flavor.

Now, everything was definitely not a “hit” in the MDR either. However, our servers always brought us extra things without us asking and we always found something we loved each night.

  12. We had the same impression of both specialty restaurants last week! We ate at 150 CP on the first night and Chops lunch later in the cruise. We actually liked our food and the servers so much better in the MDR. It was actually one of the very bright spots of the whole vacation! Even if the specialties were free, we would choose MDR over them. We planned to try 150 CP and MDR on the first two nights, and buy a dining package if we thought it would help us enjoy the cruise more. I am so happy we didn’t prepay!
