No sorry not the TA Win will not do any TAs again, doesn't like the Hassle of Flts and Immigration.

We are on Indy 31st Aug 8 Day Fjords Cruise, the Party was great we had 2 in 2 Days for her, one on the Thurs where we go dancing, then a Family one on Sat Eve:wine-glass::cocktail::bottle-pop::whiskey-glass:

  2. Tom, your keyboard must be playing up, in your first post you said it was the INDEPENDENCE not Navigator, not sure about the Navigator and suite lounge[emoji18]

Also didn’t think there was a cabin 1700 on Navigator [emoji15]

John you are correct it is Indy, had a hard night with a party for Wins 80th cannot blame the keyboard this time;).

  3. Hi Tom, Have sold the Villa after 22years so just doing the TA followed by 4 nights in Vegas, still love the Indy TA for meeting up with fellow cruises that have done it for many years like ourselves.

At least we should be doing immigration whilst on the ship in St Thomas.

Last time we did Immigration in St Thomas it Took Forever, last ones did not get cleared until 2-30pm queues were right down the Royal Promenade, it was a Shambles by US Immigration, RCL offered to Pay for extra Staff but they were turned Down.

  4. Will miss you Tom on the TA[emoji23][emoji23]

Also showing the Fish & Ships as A La Carte pricing and classed as Fast casual Food American [emoji848][emoji23]

Same here John, we used to love the TAs on Indy but the hassle with US Immigration and Customs has put Win off flying or going to the USA.

Are you still going out to Florida for the Winter or are you just doing the TA?.

  5. Thanks for the update and information, not sure it will make us Rush back to Indy, most of the New Bits seem to be aimed at attracting the Younger Generation so we may have to move on to another Ship. We may give it a chance but not holding out much hope.

Are they adding a Crystal Canopy to the Solarium anyone know?.

  6. Hi Tom, we loved NCL Escape, hope you feel the same about Epic, we are on Indy 30th June taking Son,DIL and grandchildren, then B2B on the Adventure in September for our 50th, then the Indy again for the TA end of October followed by 3 nights in Vegas but think that will be it on Royal until we hear they are being more Loyal. Have a 24 night Princess cruise booked from Southampton for September 19.

Going on Spirit not Epic, but we did Epic 2yr ago and loved it, we did Spirit last year it is a smaller ship but its the only decent one doing the Canaries at this time of year.

  7. Totally agree Tom, if Pinnacle members like yourself feel this way it doesn’t bode well for us D+ members, come try Princess with us[emoji1303][emoji1303]

Hi John, Trying NCL again on Sat for 10 days on the Spirit, then looking at either Princess in June or MSC with the Loyalty match.

Royal also tending to lean more towards a Family/Younger Experience than us Older ones, especially with the refurbishments on Indy, more Staterooms less Space and the themed Laser Park etc.

  8. Mostly Loyal to Royal but will use other Lines depending on the Destination and Deal, However the way Royal is Starting to Double the Charges for Speciality Restaurants and Nickel and Diming, plus the loss of Loyalty Benefits we will start looking more Closely at other Lines and what they have to offer.

The way they are trying to cut back on Courses in the MDR are a Classic example of what they are trying to do, they state they are a High Class Line but do not live up to the Hype anymore.

Yes its Good to be Rewarded? for loyalty with Royal, however it would seem that Royal are leaning/encouraging New Cruisers rather than the customers who helped them get where they are now IMHO.

Loyalty goes both ways and they should Remember we can Vote with our Feet.

  9. My personal feeling is that if you want things to feel more like "the good ol days" service, food quality, space ratio's wise, you need to up your game going on Azamara, Oceania, Seabourne, Silverseas, Crystal or Regent.

Keeping in mind that these upgraded experiences will also be reflected in much higher per passenger prices that surprise surprise, are similar (after accounting for inflation) to what folks were paying 25 years ago on Royal Caribbean.

It's just the reality of the world, you get what you pay for. Mainstream/Contemporary/Premium Cruise lines are dirt cheap nowadays and still offer great value for the money. The cruises in these segments include:

RCCL, Carnival, Norwegian, MSC, Princess, Celebrity, Holland America, P&O and Costa -- Princess, Celebrity and HAL are the slightly upgraded experiences being adult oriented ships in the premium segment.

OP, if I might suggest, an alternate solution would be to try MSC's Yacht Club or Norwegian's Haven. They both offer a "luxury ship within a ship" product that might appeal to you while still allowing for that big mainstream ship experience. MSC's Yacht Club in particular I've heard nothing but amazing things.

Alternately it may be time for you to upgrade to Oceania or Azamara (Deluxe cruise category) to get that upgraded experience you are looking for.

Its not always true that the 6*? lines are that much Better, we sailed with Oceania last Year and we had similar problems, yes the Rooms were Better with Finer Linens etc, however the Staff were not very Communicative, the Food was Sometimes Just Warm, one of our Party had a Steak in the Grill Speciality and it was way under cooked when he tried it, it was taken away to be Changed and the SAME ONE came back Re-heated, Entertainment was Poor, so it depends what you are looking for, someone who does everything reasonably well or High Quality Cuisine and Service(sometimes).

  10. Total con! Don't fall for it. The "free" drinks have simply been added on to last weeks price.... The same as NCL now offering a drinks package for everyone, but upped their prices accordingly, so you are paying for your drinks upfront, not matter how little you drink.

Also when you look at T&Cs it is any Drink up to $12 so not all Cocktails etc included.

  11. Email from M Bayley States Dining Room Policy is that Shorts ARE Not allowed in the DR and that is NOT Changing.

    .

    Hi

Our Dining room policy does not allow shorts in the dining room for dinner and that is not changing. I think you may be a victim of "Fake News".

    Thanks for reaching out.

  12. I don't understand why adults say they follow a rule only if someone enforces it. I would be totally embarrassed if stopped at the entrance of a restaurant and requested to go back and hange. For me it is a question of decent education to follow some basic rules.

I do understand that many people don't like suits and ties while on vacation. But shorts in the evening and even on formal nights? It is cold enough in the dining room and an adult should be able to bring along one long trousers. It is not a Taco Bell or McDonalds. Everyone on this forum expects high quality food and kind of luxury atmosphere from the restaurants on Royal ships. Does this match with shorts, flip flops and tank tops in the evening? Would you do this in an upscale restaurant at home?

Great comment, guess the Rule Breakers are the ones that Break the Driving Laws/Speed limits then complain when they get a Ticket, but then again you get the I'm on Vacation mentality and I will do what I want to, probably don't like queueing either so jump the line.

  13. Sorry for the confusion. I meant up to 60% on selected wines in dining room. However I have later seen discounts on bottles of wine, sparkling wine as well of spirits in bars. Only for consumption on the ship. I have not noticed discounted duty free so far.

Quantum TA was a great cruise. Internet is much better here on Legend than those days on Quantum!

Thanks for all the updates etc, have you had any Theme Nights or do you know if any are Planned.

    Thanks

  14. In Mumbai right now - nice weather. So far all in working order. Told that there will be additional sanitation of the ship in Dubai due to many sea days. Onboard Dubai information meeting march 11 for consecutive cruisers. Really enjoying the cruise and looking forward Suez Canal part of the cruise.

I'm amazed with the quality of internet. Same level as for Quantum Class ships.

Thanks for the information and hope the Party is getting ready for us getting on in Dubai:cool:.
