  1. We have done the Alaska cruises with our whole family on Princess including

two children age 8 & 10. Everyone had a great time. Many Activities for all ages. If your kids love Disney, then I would take them on a Disney cruise. We had a great time on both lines. Whatever you decide, enjoy your cruise.

  2. I second this!
I agree also, it would be easy enough to check cruise cards at the entrance to the DR as there are

always MANY staff lined up there...... why have 2 options id they are not utilized as designed!!!:)

  3. We sailed out of the new terminal on the Oct 18 - 7 day coastal. We arrived at 1:30pm thinking we might avoid the single line that wrapped around the building and down the front of the terminal. Stood for 40 minutes to pass through security (not Princess). Once inside, we had no wait to check in. (5min process We are Platinum.) Cab driver wasn't sure how to access the terminal, police seemed confused. We were glad that the weather was nice as there is no shelter, if it is rainy windy or cold and not many places to sit. We saw some handicapped people struggling to get on line and also find a place to sit outside the terminal. Inside there is plenty of seating and minimal confusion.

I guess it is going to take some time to iron out all the wrinkles.;)

  4. We are just off the Star Princess 7 day California Coastal. We also sailed on

the Star in 2002 when she was brand new. Twelve years later, she is beautiful, well maintained and upgraded with all the Princess signature features.

IMHO the best thing about the Star is Captain Todd and his excellent crew.

They make it their business to provide a wonderful cruise vacation.

We have experienced great times on several other Princess ships, but the Star

is at the top of our list!

    Enjoy

    Dot & Paul:)

  5. Can you tell us where you saw this? I've looked but can find nothing that talks about A/C problems on the Star caused by "mussels in the intake filters". On the Golden' date=' yes, but nothing about the Star.[/quote']

Found a post #501 on this thread Star out of SF (10days) Roll Call Board

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1999078&page=26

Dh saw it somewhere else but he's out right now, won't be back until later tonight.

  6. We read on the boards that because of mussels clogging the intake filters of the ships both the Star and the Golden had intermittent or no A/C on their last

cruises. Both had come off Alaskan itineraries where the problem had started because of unusually warm waters. Anyone know of any status updates from some currently on the Oct 11th sailing of the Star?

My DH says that cleaning these filters is a long process.

  7. We did this on the Golden to Alaska for our 40th anniversary in 2007. It wasn't really about the package (we did the standard). That day was so special because we had our family (adult children and grandkids and members of our wedding party (our best friends) with us). Princess did a great job of making us feel very special. That was a special cruise and we have memories for a lifetime!
