Loved your review! Thanks again. We will be on the Getaway next month for a transatlantic from Copenhagen to Miami. I learned a lot about our ship and cannot wait to experience it all.

There are so many choices. I am a gym "nut" so I spend time lifting weights. Then I can eat what I want. I love the hot tub, a specialty coffee, watching the waves, movies, etc.

The new price may not include any perks that you already have.

Did you bring swimsuits or just go wading at the beach?

Thanks for a fabulous review.

Thank you for your detailed review. We will be on the Getaway in October for a TA. We are looking forward to it and are glad to hear that it is a wonderful ship.

In addition to doing the RS walking tour, we did the Copenhagen Free Walking Tour, which was EXCELLENT! It begins from in front of City Hall (Radhus) at 10am, 11am and 3pm. You just show up--no reservation required. See: http://www.copenhagenfreewalkingtours.dk/index.html
You can make reservations, though. We made reservations for the 10am tour on Oct. 14th.

Its that time of the year again when I go to Roskilde Festival do I probably won't be a leg to reply for the next week or so.
Now your sharp mind thinks, hey isn't it first tomorrow that the festival starts, and yes you are correct.
But I'm going to a friends house one hour or so away from here to celebrate Sankt Hans tonight.
Technically its Midsummer celebration even thought Midsummer was Wednesday, why its celebrated today there is probably a good explanation for but I don't know it.
So those of you that are in Copenhagen tonight I suggest that you go to Tivoli or one of the many other places in Copenhagen that has Bonfires tonight.
It's very cosy.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the video. We will be on the Getaway in October for a TA from Copenhagen to Miami. Cannot wait!

I am sure your hotel will be able to store your luggage, even though they can't check you in at that early hour. Perhaps check with the hotel directly.
At the central station, you can store luggage at the following prices:
Small BoxKr. 65,- pr. 24 hoursLarge boxKr. 75,- pr. 24 hours
Thanks is for the information. We are staying at the Wakeup Bogergade. They have storage lockers but I have been told that they are not very large. We have large suitcases. We will probably try the large boxes at the station.

We took a taxi to the train station and stored our luggage. We then walked around and took in a museum before heading to the airport around 1pm. The train is nonstop to the airport once you collect bags. A 630p flight would give you almost a full day if you disembarked early

How much does it cost to store luggage? We,will be arriving in Copenhagen too early to check-in at our hotel. It would be nice to store our luggage while we find a place for lunch.

Your group may have picked up something on the plane and not the ship. When I get on a plane I use medicated wipes to wipe down my seat area including the seat belt and the tray table.

I'm going on my first RCI cruise in June and I'm a pretty new cruiser. I've only been on two short cruises before - on Carnival and Norwegian. I am reading everything I can on these boards to learn what I can about how to do this upcoming 7-day on the Harmony right, but I'm surprised at how much money everyone seems to spend!!
Are we the only cheap cruisers out there?
The price for 7 days for 4 people was a ton - granted we had to book when the kids were out of school, so the prices were up but I expected that. So we don't intend on eating at any of the on-board restaurants that cost money when we can eat for free in the main dining room or buffets. We aren't foodies at all, so I don't want to pay for food when our ticket price includes food. We have 3 ports on our cruise and we only intend on doing an excursion at one of them and walking around on the other two (for free). I doubt we'll purchase any drinks packages since you get free juice on board, from what I read and my hubby and I aren't big drinkers at all and rarely drink soda.
I really feel like we're the only ones on these boards who are trying to keep the budget down on the cruise. Are there any other budget cruisers out there who have tips and ideas for saving money? I just feel like these pricey summer cruises are "all inclusive" but by the time you add wifi, drinks, alcohol, excursions, restaurants, etc. it's not so "all inclusive" after all.
You are not the only ones. My husband and I rarely buy any of the extras and we still have fantastic vacations. I occasionally buy a drink or two during a 7 day cruise. Do not give in to those who say negative things about the free venues. Take a vacation from WiFi. You will not regret it. I know you will have a lovely vacation.

The wife and I will be doing a Pre-cruise stay through Princess at the Scandic Copenhagen hotel. Does this stay at the hotel include Copenhagen card for each person? On -line cost is about $57.00/person and admits you to ~73 different attractions for free for 24 hrs.?! Anyone done this through Princess ??
The card is also good for transportation, however, I heard that Copenhagen is a very walkable city. Unless you plan to go to places that are further out or are not able to do much walking, this option will not be worthwhile.

C332 is located at Oceankaj.
Even if there are accommodations near Oceankaj, you don't want to stay there. The port is in an industrial area at some distance from the city center. We stayed in the area near the Kongens Nytorv station giving us easy access from the airport via the M2 Metro line. We also used public transportation (two buses) to get from our hotel to Oceankaj. Our hotel, the Wakeup Hotel Borgegade, was within walking distance of the station, Nyhavn, the Stroget, Rosenborg Castle, and Tivoli Gardens. The room was small and basic, but it was clean, comfortable and quiet--all I need in a room. The staff was great and they offer an extensive breakfast buffet for an additional charge (which is well worth the money).
I know nothing about taking cabs or ride-shares in Copenhagen. We used the excellent public transportation system to get around.
Many have written about using public transportation. Is this really feasible with very large suitcases?

I think it is about 240 days until our TA on the Getaway leaving Copenhagen on October 15th.

We did the 3-hour Grand Tour with Copenhagen Free Walking Tours (with the green umbrellas). Our tour was one of the highlights of our entire cruise and our guide, Magnus, was both fun and informative.
The tours are free. The guides won't hunt you down like a dog for a tip. But, I have found that guides on "free" walking tours work hard--don't stiff them.
We were planning on $25-$30

I see wake up on google maps. and the price with the reviews looks inviting. which location is more convinient, or would you choose (since they are basically same $) Bethel hotel on Nyhan or wake up borgergade? is it quaint being by the boats on Nyhavn, or is it just loud? Do they offer walking tours that locals give to teach us about the city? thank you for your help. We are looking forward to getting to know Copenhagen.
If you Google free Copenhagen tours you will find there are a couple which are highly praised. The people reviewing said they gave a nice tip but you do not have to pay. We plan to do the 3 hour tour when we are in Copenhagen in October.

Thanks for the info. I think we will take a cab.

We also stayed at the Wakeup Hotel Borgegade. The location is great--walking distance to Nyhavn, the Stroget, Rosenberg Castle and even Tivoli. The rooms are compact, but clean, quiet and comfortable. They also offer a great breakfast buffet for an extra fee--more than worth the cost.
We easily got from the airport to the hotel using public transportation (train). We also used public transportation (buses) to get from the hotel to the port (Oceankaj)where our HAL ship docked
Did you have much luggage? We will have large suitcases. Can we fit on public transportation? We will be staying at Wakeup Bogergade in mid-October.

I would NEVER give anyone here my real name, or give them my CC name at a meet and greet. Way too many crazies!
What you think is crazy, I might call enthusiastic. We really love going to the meet and great. It is best if it is early in the cruise. Even if we don't become "pals" with anyone. We enjoy seeing fellow cruise critic people as we pass on the ship. Sometimes with get together with some during the cruise but mostly it is just nice seeing a familiar face.

We have booked inside cabins on all but one cruise. We never mind it. On the one cruise when we had a balcony, my husband rarely used it because then he would have to put on sunscreen. He previously had skin cancer and is not supposed to go outside without it. It was nice for me but I really, would rather spend the extra money on something else. We did book a balcony for our TA cruise next year so we could get an extra perk.

I'm going to be on the Ruby Princess on Halloween day. I've never been on a ship for this occasion before, and I was wondering what Princess usually has planned. Has anyone gone on a Halloween cruise?
I'm sure a lot has to do with whether it is a sea day or a port day. We're going to be in San Francisco until 11pm, so a lot of people will be off the ship. I really want to partake in Halloween festivities. Should I bring a costume? What's going to happen?
Carole
We will be on the same cruise. I may bring some sort of costume but do,not want it to take up,too much room in my suitcase. I was on the Coral last year for Halloween. There was a fun party on deck. I wonder if many will be on shore late and if this will affect the on-board celebration.
Have you joined the roll-call?

You are entitled to your opinion but it does not matter to me if NCL profits from this. What matters is that more people will be able to enjoy their cruise by eating at times they prefer.
