We may even miss dinners in the dining room on this cruise if the weather is nice sailing out of the fjords!

I agree with Norris about going to the buffet for dinner if you're in an especially scenic area at dinner time. The buffet usually isn't as crowded for dinner and finding a window table is easy.  And it's very convenient to quickly pop out and take a few outdoor pictures when something catches your eye. My wife and I discovered this when we went to Alaska and didn't want to miss out on the scenery. It works well for us.

  2. Glad to hear I'm not the only one having problem with Princess.com. I haven't been able to get pricing on any cruise for nearly a week now. I get the Pricing Not Available error code every time, even on my saved cruises. I've cleared my cache and cookies and it's still not working. Very frustrating!

  3. Norris,

Thanks again for another fabulous review. And as always, your photos are spectacular. Never been to Norway, and I doubt we ever will. But you brought me there. And your London photos brought back fond memories of the 2 visits we had to that incredible city.

Your Sky Princess review reminder is already on my 2020 calendar. See you there.

We recently did a 2 day trip down Route 66 for 200 miles and I lovingly photographed it on my Flickr page. Saw some little towns I would never have seen before and met a lot of nice people. (click the link below where the ? is)

Thanks for the link. Great photos. I've driven large chunks of The Mother Road, mostly in the West. Although I did do a bit of it in Springfield, Illinois. Here's a link to my Flickr album about Route 66:

    Route 66

(BTW, I noticed that you have two different Flickr profiles. I've been following your other one for quite awhile now. Didn't know about the one with the Route 66 link, though. I'm now following that one as well. I need to go back and check out some of your other albums. Lots of good stuff there!)

Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon? Yup! All aboard!

The Grand Canyon Railway actually goes from Williams to the Grand Canyon. The geography geek in me had to point that out🙂. It's a great ride. I've done it too.

I'm very excited to see your photos from this train ride. My father worked for the Long Island Railroad and we had free passes to ride all the trains east of the Mississippi. (This was in the days before Amtrak.) This was how we did a lot of our trips when I was growing up. I'm still fascinated by trains, and I've gotten my grandson hooked on them as well.

Not the iconic harbor and mountain view but there's more to Bergen than that (dedicated to Jasperdo)

Thanks for the shout out. Those are terrific photos of the residential part of town from the top of the funicular. It looks like many of those homes would have a great view of the harbor. (I also like your strategy of letting the masses off first. That's what we always do as well. And I watch which way they're all headed and go the other way. That way, when we get to the classic viewpoint area, most everyone else has dispersed to other areas.)

That's how I handled the "signature situation" and it seems to be working well.  I still think it's very annoying that we are so restricted in our signatures as there are many of us who like to keep the links to our old reviews accessible and conveniently located, but such is life!

Thanks for that tip. I haven't been able to include the photos from my most recent cruise because of the new signature restriction. I'll have to try your solution. And I also need to go and read your latest review. They are always terrific.

  8. I checked my calendar this morning and it said "Norris Celebrity Norwegian Cruise". So I mosey on over to the Celebrity board, and lo and behold, there it is. I've pulled a deck chair up to the railing and I'm ready to sail the Fjords. ( I hope you found Polly Parrot while you were there. I heard she was pinning for them.)

We're on the Eurodam in early Sept but I dont see Music Trivia listed on the 'daily schedule. Anyone know if they still do that? Was so popular on my last HAL cruise.

I don't recall a Music Trivia on our sailing. We only went to one trivia on this cruise. It was just general trivia and was held at Billboard Onboard. It seemed to me that there were very few trivia sessions held. That may be because this cruise was port and scenery intensive.

Hi there..thought of another question...Do the cabins now have the flat screen tvs and no more dvd players?  Movies on the tv now instead of having to rent them.

Also, did you happen to use the Relaxation room/saunas/hydrotherapy pool?

    Thanks again so much.

    Teri

We had a 32 inch TV in our inside cabin. There was no DVD player. We didn't watch any movies, but I did browse through the On Demand catalog and it was quite extensive. Sorry, we didn't use the sauna facilities.

@Jasperdo Thank you SO MUCH for posting these!! We are going on this cruise in a few days (our first cruise ever!) and seeing all this info is super exciting for someone like me who likes to know what to expect ahead of time. Thank you!!

First cruise, how exciting! I've been on 18 now, and each one still feels special. I highly recommend you go see "Humanity", which is a production show in the main showroom. It's held on the second day of your cruise and is very good. We also really enjoyed Billboard Onboard. We don't normally like piano bars, but this was different. We listened to them almost every night. The BB King Blues Club was very good as well. Have a great cruise!

    Thanks! 23 days to go!

You're quite welcome. I always search out recent dailies for the cruises I go on, and I like helping out others who are looking for the same. Hope you all have a great cruise. We had a wonderful time on the Eurodam.

    HI there,

Just wondering...did you guys play bingo? And if so how much was it and was it the old fashioned cards or all electronic? Thank you in advance. Love the scans you did!

    Teri

Sorry, we didn't play bingo, so I can't help you much. I did walk by Billboard Onboard once while bingo was in session. The numbers board was shown on all the TV screens scattered around the lounge. But as for prices and cards vs electronic I can't help you there.

Thank you for sharing! Did you experience any mechanical problems? OR feel stronger than usual shaking?

Someone on a Eurodam cruise before you mentioned these issues in their Alaska Eurodam review a few days ago.  Thank you!

There were no mechanical problems on our cruise. We arrived at every port on time, with no issues at all. I did feel a bit of a vibration when standing all the way aft by the Sea View Pool when the ship was sailing at full speed. But I didn't feel it was anything particularly unusual. Our cabin, 4170, was almost at the rear of the ship, and I never felt any strong vibration there. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the information. I’m on her next week.

Just curious if you were told before sailing about the Orange Party ?

This was my first cruise on HAL, and I knew nothing about the Orange Party until I saw it listed in the When & Where. I didn't go to it, but I did see them placing orange balloons all around the BB King Blues Club as we walked by. Enjoy your cruise. We had a great time on the Eurodam.
